There always seems to be some murmurs about a western release. I've also read in a couple places that the game didnt't go over in a test comprised of a western audience. And so it was canned. Considering how swamped Nintendo is with Cube and DS and GBA games, the odds seem pretty slim for a release 2 years later. You can still hold out for a Europe localization, but if you're eager to play it you might as well import.

Nintendo can always pull a Microsoft and Sony and hand it off to a localization friendly 3rd party (usually Ubisoft,Majesco or ATLUS) and let them publish it exclusively for cube but who knows?

Go go super bump!

So PlayAsia is clearing stock of this game for only 20 bucks...

1. Is it worth playing for 20 bucks?
2. Is it playable if I don't know a lick of Japanese?

Well, here's what PGC had to say: "As for importers, like most RPGs where the story is the heart of the game, I would recommend waiting for the English version."

But the game is just so crazy-looking, I'd go for it at that low price. (see the commercial here)

Actually, I think I will go for it. Thanks for pointing out that play-asia deal.

I'd say it's more likely to than Homeland.

Yeah, that's funny, I was going to mention Homeland as well.

But Homeland is an online GameCube game, isn't it?  Seeing as how people with a broadband adapter for their GameCube are the minority, and very much so, that's not coming out in North America for sure.  I don't even remember if it came out in Japan, there hasn't been much talk about that.

But Giftpia.  I remember seeing that on the Planet GameCube E3 2002 DVD.  Wacky stuff.

Just wanted to bump this thread to let everyone know GiFTPIA is on sale for like 15 bucks at play-asia.com. I picked it up even though I know absolutely no Japanese and there are no guides. At that price I couldn't say no, especially after waiting so long to play it. Guess I'll just have to mod my Cube and spend some time learning Japanese (something I've wanted to do for a long time) and slowly work my way through the game.

I forgot I said I was going to buy this. I probably should, now.

...although, the lack of a translation guide is making me hesitate. Even if I manage to get the game working (my GameCube doesn't work, and the last time I tried one of those ActionLoader things on the Wii it didn't work), I know I'll start playing, walk around for fifteen minutes listening to the music, quit, and then never touch the game again.
