Wii prototype drawings, charger/endcap/wirelesstranceiver?
« on: June 03, 2006, 11:05:14 AM »
Just bumped into these.

What is this mysterious image they link from that page?

Also, see the Wiimote with an analog stick?

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

It looks like a charging dock for the Wii Remote.  2005 was such a long time ago.

Nintendo sez: Wiimote uses AA batteries. Why would they lie about something like that?

I'm inclined to agree with the peoples on the other forum who say it looks like the GBA wirelessamajiggy.

I would have preferred if they would have used Ion batteries for the Wiimotes and made them dock with the Wii.  Batteries are a pain.

Yes! Controller chargers PLEASE exist! This doesn't really confirm anything since most of the stuff there never ended up existing, and obviously they had to have considered the charging station thingy.

Someone pointed that out, now I remember it from Pikmin. What is it in real life?

I remember reading an interview somewhere with Miyamoto and he was saying the the battery situation was not finalized and that they were still looking into using rechargeable batteries. If you ask me Nintendo would be very foolish not to have rechargeable batteries. Buying batteries all the time is costly and annoying. Most people will go out and buy rechargeable AA batteries anyway so why not provide it out of the box with Lithium Ion ones.

Exactly.

The only downside is that Ion batteries eventually die (in several years). I'm sure Nintendo will let you replace them so it's moot point.

If you scroll down you will read "EN - Wireless transceivers". What that means, I don't know, so don't ask me, you guys can continue with your usual jibba jabba.
