Wow--Rockstar/XBox 360 Deal

Not that I care about these games...but this fits well into the Nintendo strategy of Sony-Microsoft grinding each other into the ground, and then taking a completely different path.

Back when the Xbox 360 first launched, rumor had it that Microsoft was going to put out Halo 3 the day the PS3 was released to stifle sales of Sony's new console. Well, it turns out Microsoft now has a little something else up its deep pockets: a deal with Rockstar Games to bring out Grand Theft Auto for the Xbox 360 simultaneously with the PlayStation 3 version, along with episodic content on Xbox Live. Senior associate editor Dan Ackerman is at the press conference and will have full details shortly, but it looks like the Microsoft-Sony war is turning into a real bare-knuckle street fight.


This is BRUTAL for Sony in North America. The GTA, um, aficionados now no longer have to be solely in the Sony camp.

Oh yeah.  We all kinda forgot that there was a third console maker doing a pre-E3 presentation.  Heh.  Anything interesting happen?

It would have had a bigger impact if the series was moving exclusive to the Xbox 360, but multi is not really that good.  Most multi games suffer from being split.  Oh well, I never played a GTA game before, and I don't plan on doing so in the future either.  So, I REALLY DON'T CARE!

Yeah, Xbox was already getting the GTA games, just a little late.  This is nice, but I don't think it's going to have as big of an effect as Sony's own screw-ups (slow to launch, high price).

episodic content will mean that Rockstar will have no excuse for rehashing the GTA 4 engine!  [world implodes]
