Current Games

I'm not sure if this should go in this section or the rev section but as it has to do with GC games I guess here's fine.

There are a few games that are being released for the GC in Japan that should be brought over to the U.S. My concern is that with the translating and production time it usually takes a game to be brought over is that the GC will be dead already. What's gonna happen to those games? The rev can play them so do they still release them? But they'd have to release them as GC games cuz the conversion to a rev game would require new programming making the game take longer to release, and would be slightly unfair to japanese gamers. My two main concerns are the Naruto RPG and Baten Kaitos 2. Baten Kaitos 2 is very likely going to be released or they will try their best to release before the rev launch as it was fairly popular over here, but Naruto was time released with the series in Japan, and the same would have to be true for the states. Both these games are heavy on speaking (i don't think that's the word i'm looking for) whether it be voice acting or text, but it adds time to the development, especially since a lot of things can't be directly translated and need to be "americanized". This is even more of a concern for europe, if the Rev is going to be released simultaneously world-wide. Anyone hear anything about Nintendo's plan for this, or feel free to speculate, cuz i have no idea.

I think there is a very good chance, given the backwards compatibility of the Rev, that we will continue to see Cube games get released well into 2007.  Most will be licensed games, and the fact that the Naruto RPG is just that, we may still see it.

I am not as optimistic about Baten Kaitos 2 though.  The fact that it is aimed at a different demographic worries me.  We'll just have to wait and see there.

I thought it was already confirmed that NOA is going to publish Baten Kaitos II this year.

I remember reading that there were "sources" saying it was going to be released and published by Nintendo.. I never found anything official though.  I could have just missed it...

Well, Nintendo is confirmed to be publishing the game in the Land of the Rising Sun, but I don't *think* it's been confirmed for the U.S. quite yet...I do think it's likely though...

Sorry to interrupt you guys but I think the latest NP said that the game will come out in June...let me check...on the previews section it has this "Release: June 2006".

Edit: I forgot to mention something. If it is as easy to develop for the NRS as it was for the GC, and it is so because the NRS is very similar (programming wise) to the GC, than it would be a smart move (for those developers that have GC games to be released after the NRS is out) to upgrade those games to be released for the NRS. Easy, cheap, lucrative(pending on sales of course)!

Thanks for the heads up Caliban...

I'll confirm that when I get home and update the game profile here when I see it.

i agree with u caliban, but if Twilight Princess really was delayed to add Rev controls to it, it might not be that simple. but hey who knows, i just really want BK2 and BK: DS although i'm not too worried about the latter since the DS is kicking a$$ left right and center. but thanks to everyone for answering my question.

Edit: BK: DS was changed into a smiley like so: BKS so i fixed it

Oh I didn't mean games like TP, my comment was towards 3rd-party devs (the ones making Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, etc...), for all I know Nintendo can do whatever the hell they want without harming us loyal fans of course.

At ign.com they did what they call a playtest(first impression) of BK:2 there were some disappointing tidbits they brought out, like some changes in the battle system, (like no defensive cards :'(, less depth). but they also said it was coming to america in June at the end of the report. So that's good news. the rev launch won't be for a good number of months after that. no news yet on other games. it'd be nice if the pgc mailbag was still a feature here, and we could ask them.

oh thanks for the info ice
