I'm so gonna get the new Rampage

Forget Twilight Princess! this is the must have Gamecube game of 2006!

It looks like a lot of fun, I have found memories of the original arcade game. It's supposed to be only $20, right?

Rampage rocks.

Then there was World Tour, which had the uber-hot Dr. Betty Veronica.

Universal Tour looked like it sucked.  The new characters looked like crap.

It's not Rampage without George and Lizzie (and sometimes Ralph).  But even so, if the gameplay hasn't changed much at all, it better be inexpensive.

Rampage is a game I find to work incredibly well in the arcades and incredibly poorly on consoles.  It really needs the finite nature of having to spend money to continue.  Once you give it unlimited continues it gets boring because it never ends.  It just goes on forever.  It's clear that it was never originally designed to be beaten but rather just to suck quarters.  The gameplay benefits from being played in short doses.  If you play it for hours and hours it exposes how one-dimensional it really is.

Personally I don't see how they can expand on the formula in any significant way.  $20 would probably be better spent on Midway Arcade Treasures 1 or 2 which both contain Rampage games and also come with a bunch of other cool stuff.

I agree I have been wanting this game for along time being a huge Rampage fan. I also have the Midways arcade treasures but this game still looks good enough for me to want it.

If they just give you a fixed amount of credits, yes, that means it's going to get boring and un-arcadey. If they implemented a money system where you have to earn credits (through score or something) and could spend them on other things as well it'd be closer to the arcade feeling of limited money. But I suppose that'd only work properly in an entire arcade game collection. Or even worse, an online arcade that's fed with real money...

For $20, and since it's being developed by Pipeworks, I will be sure to pick this game up. Even if it doesn't have great replay value, at the price point I can't argue that much.

It looks interesting, for sure.  I agree that the formula gets stale after a while, but there's an easy solution... turn the game off and play something else.
That's my opinion, not yours.

I like having games that I can play with my friends. If we get a few hours out entertainment out of it, then I still think it was worth the money. It's a social purchase, not a game purchase.
