Play the Price is Right!
« on: December 08, 2005, 04:57:17 PM »
So how much do y'all think the price is gonna be? Because of the lack of high end graphics, I think that it might actually be lower than $200! MAybe $180 or something. That would be pretty darn attractive.

http://revolution.ign.com/articles/673/673799p1.html

Developers are speculating that based on tech alone, it could go $150 or less. Hmmmm...

Every Nintendo console has hit at $199, but I'll say $149.

Nintendo would have the proper caracters to plug in if it is the mountain climber guy. If they launched at 100$ they would definately capture a large market.

I'm saying 200.  Even without HD, I still don't see this being as cheap or cheaper than a DS at launch.

200 but they could get away with 229 with the outrageous prices of their competitors.

I think I've said before that they're going to aim for about half of whatever the ps3 is going to go for.

So, yeah, I'm thinking $199 at launch.

I'm desperately hoping for $179 at launch with one controller and SOME sort of gameplay, demo or otherwise...

$139 when its 6 months later to keep the hype rolling.

$99 a year after launch to just go all out for penetration.

Then after that we'll be seeing $99 bundled-with-game systems!

I wish I knew what the devs knew, lol.

$249

Will include the "Nunchuck" attachment and classic-style shell

I have a feeling that the SD card might come pre-loaded with the original "Super Mario Bros."

I also think that from launch through the end of 2006, there will be a special promotion: any "Player's Choice" title from the GameCube library free with each Revolution console purchase.

I'm actually not so sure that it'll be $200. Nintendo has to support its' WFC servers somehow, and we're not paying monthly. How do you expect them to pay for 'em? Easy. Make a profit on all systems sold.

What's the traditional launch price?  Isn't it like $199?

I think they could stand to charge more than that, honestly, because the competition does.  Even if they COULD sell it at $99 as some people have speculated, I don't see that happening right at launch.

If the technology is so cheap (probably leading towards the low-end estimates), they should include a game with it.  Games are so cheap but so marked up that people will think it's a deal while the increased cost of it to Nintendo will be small.

I'll play it safe and say $199.   There's a good chance it could come in at $149 if the specs are indeed in the 2-3x 'Cube range.

$149.95.  The more I watch Nintendo the more I'm convinced that the company is seriously going to go after "non-gamers", and the competition has little to do with how it's going to price the Revolution.  To capture non-gamers, the lowest possible price point will be key, and based on what IGN's sources have been saying, $150 would probably still be profitable.

Ha ha, I just wanted to be precise, because it bugs me when people put XX9 like the company isn't charging you the extra dollar (for all intents and purposes).  It's falling straight into the marketing trap they've set.
