Oh yeah, on this note, Mega Tanks have a secondary weapon, but it's weak sauce (and they always use their main cannon first, except against air units).

Yeah, I expected that as it continues the tradition of the tanks using weak weapons on Air, otherwise they'd be too powerful.

Couple of Notes.

The Mega Tank does not use primary ammo on infantry.  So you couldn't run solders into it to run down it's ammo... only whittle away at it's health or block it's already short path.

Cloaked stealth can *only* be attacked by fighters - so Jets or other stealth units.  However.  They are not as potent as a bomber nor do they carry as much fuel or ammo.  While a bomber would be able to take out an AA unit when striking first, the stealth would have a harder time (unless it's cloaked and doesn't have to worry about retaliation).  I think the stealth is a nice addition that maintains balance with the other units.  Same for the Mega Tank - which despite having the biggest guns, would probably be more handy as a HQ defender than an offensive tool.

The AI logic in this game has been improved.  Likely one of the major advances that can often go un-noticed.  AW2 was better than AW1.  (AW2 got rid of the AW1 "APC's must die!" cpu attitude, in fact capturing infantry gets a pretty high priority).  In any case, the CPU in both AW1 and AW2 cheated in "Fog of War".  They could fire on units that they couldn't "see", with exception of trees and reefs which still hid units properly.  It made FoW matches against the AI pointless.  AW:DS rectifies the AI deficiency in FoW.  A huge plus for that mode of play.

To verify the FoW routines in AW2 or AW:DS start a vs map with FoW and 3 or more CO's, of which all but one are controlled by the AI, all on separate teams.  On your first turn, yield.  You will create a demonstration of sorts of the AI duking it out with itself.  The FoW cheating will be apparent in AW2.  You can power off to exit the match as you will not be able to control anything.

Edit: AW:DS does not contain a emoticon :/

Thanks for the insight Shecky.  I've picked up AW DS but haven't had the chance to play it yet.  I'm going on vacation on Thursday and am eagerly awaiting the flight.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

This game rawks.  It's the first of the series I've played, but I'm really enjoying it.
Unfortunately I have a crap-load of homework to do this weekend and have very little playtime.  Can anyone give me any info on the radio talk show host Larry Ryan?  No?  I GUESS THAT'S BECAUSE NONE EXISTS.
Two page paper my ass.

Haha, thanks for the effort, Viewt.
I already found that, as well as everything else I could (a cumulative three sentences, maybe one from a reliable source), but that's all.  Not near enough to make a paper on by any means.

In addition: By the way, this game freakin' rocks, I absolutely love it.  I might have to try the other Advance Wars games, even.  It's awesome.
Know what else rocks?  Combat mode.  It's hilarious, stupid fun.  Kinda hard, too.  I like it, but I'm glad there's a little more to the game than just that
Oh God, multiplayer combat mode?  I cannot wait to try that out.  Hella yes!
