A Very Random Nintendo/Ad Connection
« on: June 01, 2005, 07:31:17 PM »
I'm not sure where to put this, because as the title implies, this is just so random, but here goes:

As I've mentioned countless times before (and as you can see by my avatar and sig) I'm a big Garbage fan.
Supposedly, the new Garbage single "Sex is Not the Enemy" is going to be used in some kind of ad promotion in the UK.
The chorus to "SINTE" goes like this: "A revolution/ Is the solution"

So on this one Garbage MB I post on, some people are speculating that the song will be used to promote the new Nintendo system as seen in this thread: clicky

Now, I realize this is improbable for several reasons:
1. Revolution probably isn't the final name
2. The single is due out on June 13, and the Rev won't be in Europe till 2007
3. I can never imagine a Garbage song promoting anything other than a movie

But the thread is an interesting read, nonetheless.  Especially the post where someone says they can't imagine Garbage fitting in with the k!ddy image of Nintendo.

My 2 loves: Garbage and Nintendo, together in a MB thread.  Very strange.

There are plenty of songs with "Revolution" in the lyrics (or lyrics pertaining to revolutions).  Nintendo could go with any of 'em...or maybe even more than one of them.  Who knows?

lol i'm speculating that the song "Do You Want A Revolution?" by Kirk Franklin will be used to promote Nintendo's new console, as heard on this site.

I think some people need to get out more.

I'd rather catchy music than a reference to a 'revolution' - there was a RE4 preview a while ago that had this catchy guitar riff and thumping drum beat. I've searched high and low for the band who did that song, because it sounded totally awesome for the 60 seconds that you could hear above the various zombie moans and stuff and I'm rambling again...

Personally, the intro to a song like "Bulls on Parage" by Rage Against the Machine is what I'd like to hear. None of this 'underlying message' garbage - just a tune that demands attention. That and the vibe of RATM fits with the desires for a 'revolution' better than any single song.

You say you want a revolution
Well you know, we all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know, we all want to change the world
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

yeah i like the beatles...in fact the words to it fit so well with the idea that games systems evolve...but rarely evolve...and when there is a revfolution everything changes
