new gamecube owner
« on: November 29, 2003, 10:43:40 PM »
The Zelda bonus disc got me wanting a gamecube, and the 80 dollar price tag sweetened the deal.  (basically to buy the 4 games + systems would have cost me more then a GC)  I always liked nintendo products but a while back I switched to playstations.  Now I am looking for the old style that was more gameplay then flash.

My question is, what games are the new versions of the old favorites?  I really loved zelda and mario games of past but I am unsure of the name of the games I want.  What is the name for the "newest" mario 64 and the zelda games for GC?  Also do they make the classic NES games on GC disc? or is that just my misconception due to the zelda bonus disc?

Thanks

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is the name of the latest Zelda game, and it's fantastic, the best Zelda yet in my opinion. And Super Mario Sunshine is the latest Mario game. Also be sure to check out Metroid Prime, and the Gameboy Player. Super Smash Bros Melee and Mario Kart Double Dash are also must have games.

Enjoy your Nintendo GameCube.

Mario - Mario Sunshine
Zelda - Legend of Zelda : Wind Waker
Metroid - Metroid Prime.
Some games have the old NES games but there really isnt a disc with a bunch.  Animal crossing has 16 if you want to go through the hassel of getting them all in what is in my opinion a game that looses its appeal quickly.  Metroid Prime has the original NES metroid on it but you must beat fusion on the GBA and link the two games in orde to unlock it.

Thanks for the speedy responses

Luigi’s Mansion and Wario World are those based on mario games or are they more party games ala mario party series?

ExtremeGcube,
What do you mean by animal crossing has 16? as in 16 NES games that are unlocked over the course of the game?

Luigi's Mansion is based on the Mario universe, and i guess 'could' be considered a 'Mario' game, but the gameplay is very different, and really nothing like anything ive ever played. I find it a really great game, although its short, its really fun and doesnt get boring.

Wario World is more a... Wario game if you know what i mean, doesnt have Mario in it. It's classic platforming though, 3D and 2D mixed together, and also a very fun game, although short like Luigi's Mansion. They are both single player games, nothing like Mario Party.

You know, there's a "Which game should I get" sticky thread in this forum, why not ask there?
