Nintendo Gaming / RE:Wii, Wal*Mart, December 6th at 8AM.
« on: December 06, 2006, 12:58:32 PM »
Drove to my local Walmart and arrived at 3 am on the 6th.  Luckily I was the first, and a line had not started yet.  The line did not form until around 5 am, and the nine Wiis were accounted for by 5:05 am.  That said, there were about another 20-25 people that showed up before the time tickets were handed out, 7:50 am.

All I have to say is that it was really cold, and I lost my voice since I got home from Walmart.  That said, the Wii was worth the wait.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:The biggest disaster in Nintendo history?

I could be wrong, but I am hearing that BestBuy is holding units to be distributed every Sunday.  So in other words they are being savvy and getting people into their stores every week, or maybe this shipment to BestBuy was a one time occurance.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Help: Where to find Zelda?

In my area at least, Sears, Target, Walmart all had copies of Zelda.  Target had the most per store, like 9 in each.

Now if I could only find a Wii console =P

Nintendo Gaming / Quick Question
« on: November 21, 2006, 05:22:06 AM »
I drove by an EB games earlier that had a sign in the window that roughly stated "Wiis are for preorders only."

My question is that was the sign because a few people did not pick up their Wiis yet, or did that store over book preorders, therefore having to reserve shipments until they get all their preorders filled?  From my understanding, and I most defintely can be wrong, but stores generally do not take preorders for shipments after the inital launch day.

Most of me is glad that Nintendo is making its way back into the spotlight, the rest of me(the part that still wants a Wii) is wishing for the Nintendo the flew under the radar in the Gamecube launch.  I am probably not the only one, but Nintendo deserves a congrats on the success of the Wii in the first few days.

Not that it would have made a sales difference, but what is the possibility that distrubition centers withheld consoles for Black Friday?  My assumption is that the answer is slim to none, but I was wondering if anyone had another opinion.  The Wii would have sold on any day of the year, but I have a fool's hope that I might be able to purchase a console in the upcoming week/weeks.
