Nintendo Gaming / Zelda: OoT:Master Quest Help Thread
« on: March 20, 2003, 02:02:55 PM »
boss key for fire temple is where the hammer originally was.. way at the top of the level i believe.  either that its on the way down.

for those kinds of hints.. use the map and compass and figure out which rooms have chests and try to go where you think you can get to.  that is what really bothered me in the spirit temple.  I think this temple takes the cake for the hardest dungeon in master quest.  i must have played that level for at least 12+ hours trying to get that damn mirror shield.  also the gauntlets were tough to get also.

anyone else need help?  I am finishing up shadow temple and all i have to do is beat the boss.  i can do that then ready to finish up ganondorf and ganon.  i wanted to share some thoughts i had about the game tho.

dungeons are much more time consuming.. for those stuck as a kid, you basically get the new weapon last in the 3 levels.  people that are stuck in the caverns, use a bomb flower to nail the door on the right side after you allowed to go up in the main room.  you can make it, cause thats what i did.  you eventually follow that to the bomb bag.  as for the adult, the bow, hammer, longshot, gaunlets, hover boots are towards the beginning and need to be used basically for the rest of the dungeon.  my main piece of advice is to follow the map and compass to help you get from 1 room to the next.  another helpful hint for puzzles.  if you are stuck from climbing up, or crossing a gap, play that song of time, they really added that into the game more with random puzzles.  when i'm stuck i look around for crystals to shoot, then check walls for broken walls (bombs), play song of time, use eye of truth.. i basically scroll through the weapons you have for that puzzle because something must be used to solve it.

-interesting fact for me in the water temple.. i found the longshot and compass before i found the map somehow.. it really bothered me, but it looked weird without the map, yet i saw the marker moving on nothing.  lol.

as far as the fire/water temples are concerned they really removed a lot of keys from the original, and you just basically have to defeat enemies or find crystals or use fire arrows (original bow behind a flame).  i've noticed so many more torches that had to be lit in this game and din's fire/deku sticks/fire arrows are a neccessity to win this game.  i also picked up the ice arrow, but wonder why its even in the game.  haven't found a use for it yet.

also they removed basically every key from the training grounds too.. that bothered me, it was a lot easier the second time through.

i'm going for full completation of the game and wondering where that last bottle was (i got the ocean one with note, rescue the cuccos in the village, and the one from lon lon ranch with find the cuccos.

double hands - kirby.. its easy to stay on with.. use the shield for basic attacks from either hand.

giga bowser - kirby also... giga bowser will push ganondorf/mewtwo off or they will push giga bowser off.. so as long as you hold that edge you are good.  also you have to watch out for when they hit you, you don't want to lose a life before 1 whole player is gone.

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid Prime (Omega Pirate)
« on: February 24, 2003, 11:31:42 AM »
I couldn't get that one to work.  i had to destroy the pirates before he was able to be seen with the visor...

anyways, use plasma on the ice caps of the pirate (1 charge shot destorys 1).  then after all 4 are gone, pirates will be summoned.  usually multiple of the same color.  destory them with easy 1 hit combo shots (super missile, wavebuster, ice spreader, flame thrower)  then switch to power beam (if there is at least 1 of these guys, save him for last) then charge that weapon up turn on that x ray visor spot him, and nail with a super missile.  the time i beat him was about a 1/2 hour.. it takes work to destory the extra pirates and be able to find the big dude.  usually you can get 2-3 super missiles off and leaving him with 1 or 2 hits left.  then just repeat.  if he summons the ice dudes, you may not beable to defeat them in time.  usually if you just dodge the attacks then you shouldn't be taking lots of damage.  hope that helps you out.

mrbojangos... half pipe takes practice, but i succeeded to figure out how that works exactly.

first start in the center of half pipe and charge a full boost (either side doesn't matter) then while in mid air, hold the b button (or whatever to charge another boost) then when in the center of the the half pipe, RELEASE.  it doesn't matter if its weak or full, but you need to release here.  then at while going up the side and coming back down, charge another one.  release this on in the center of the half pipe also.  by continuing to do this, you will go higher and higher, till you have enough time to charge a full one in mid air.

as far as metriod prime goes.. his first form beats the heck out of me, and i get really low on energy for the second form.

his first form shoots these weird bubbles that explode on me, even after shooting them.  then he charges and runs me over without warning.  his ice attack also almost always hits me too.

for his second form.. i dodge most of the attacks, but while i search for him, he gives me a beating off the hyper mode circle area.  then i jump to dodge that simple attack, and *puff* the circle is gone.  the metriod aren't a problem.. i knew to powerbomb them, i also found a safe spot by the body of the first form.. his ground pound can't hurt you there unless from a certain angle.  but when i come out he hits me cause he is above me and i can't see him, or i can't get a chance to stand in the circle long enough to deal him damage.  like towards his lower part of the bar those circles don't seem to last very long at all.  usually i see it, reach it while getting hit with the attack (cause i can't see him and know when/where its coming from) which knocks me off the circle.. then i put on the other 2 visors find him.. then before i know it the circle spot is gone.  i'll just have to keep at it.

How do you beat the 2nd form of metriod prime?  i go into the hyper spots and shoot him.. but then they never appear again.  i know no weapons work on him cept the phazon beam.. but i don't see any of those 'hyper mode' areas appearing..

thanks buddy.  that site you found helped out.

now i have to start a 3rd game... err this makes me so mad!@

first game -> got an artifact before the "newborn" on at the phendrena's edge, and the game said i didn't have it when i did
i was 72% done too!

2nd game -> at the boss ready to win, while picking up rest of the energy tanks/missiles on my own.. up to 225 now out of 250.  but i somehow didn't scan one of the first few bosses.. the "hive that you have to burn" and also that machine that spits out the wasps.. i somehow didn't scan that either... err!  also for the research, i missed the "ultra" energy, cause i never noticed it.. well i might be able to get that after i defeat metriod prime, but i don't know for sure.  are you able to go and defeat him again if you want, or is the game at an infinate continuation after he is beaten?  i heard from someone else you can go back and find stuff.. but are you still able to fight him again?

after aquiring the space jump, go back to the drifts, and you need to head for the wave beam.  i believe that is the area off to the right from when you come from magmoor.  if thats where the boost ball was, then its striaght ahead and you need to work towards the research core.

mike-opn2000 --- do you have the hint system on?  it always tells you where you need to go...

now i propose my own question.. anyone ever scan in everything?  I am missing about 8 creatures and 1 research thing in my book.  the research one comes after planet zebes, and i know 2 of the creatures i am missing because taht is where i'm at.  i know i scanned everything that i fought so far.. but are their hidden enemies?  i got all the bosses too.

any tips on the final boss also?  he's been kicking my butt around

does anyone know where the last 2 energy tanks and 55 missiles are.. like tricky ones, or harder ones anyways?
