Nintendo Gaming / RE: Nintendo on Life Support?
« on: July 16, 2003, 06:08:17 AM »
The GBA is indeed Nintendo's cash cow and the main reason why they are still making a lot of money. If Nintendo fail to succeed against newcomers in the upcoming handheld war (wich is possible ... remember, Sony was a newcomer once ...) and still remain 3rd in the console market, then it might be a problem ...

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Cube to be Number 1 at Summer
« on: June 30, 2003, 10:01:02 AM »
I can't believe some people really think that Mario Golf and Mario Tennis will sell systems ... the only people who care about those games are Nintendo and Mario loyalist, period.

Mario Kart might sell a couple systems, though.

I'm very afraid about this one ... because it has tremendous chances of terribly sucking.

They will for sure put in some love affair ... I can easily imagine Samus  freeing some space soldier from the pirates and falling in love with him (but she'll be in denial of it, of course ... she's proud an a lone gun) ... add some cooperation between them to fight the pirates with a growing sexual tension between both ... and, at the end, the guy will be knocked off almost dead, then Samus will remove her helmet and kiss him until he regains consciousness ...

AAARRGHHHH !!! Damn you Hollywood !

I know I'm only dreaming out loud, but i'd like them to do as they did when lunching the NES and the SNES : a include two controllers and a new Mario game.

I remember when I bought my SNES not long after launch and started playing Super Mario World with my brother right away ...

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo To Make Big Announcements?
« on: May 11, 2003, 05:54:32 AM »
Wow a new pacman game would surely get those Cubes flyin from the store's shelves ...

I'm not hoping for some big announcement from Nintendo at E3, and I think those who are still hoping will be disappointed ...

Nintendo Gaming / FF:CC needs more than one GBA?
« on: May 11, 2003, 05:45:45 AM »
I'm sure the lucky few (or rich, or spoiled) who'll get to play coop with 4 GBAs will have a blast ...

But to me this game only looks like another attempt to force a GBA down my throat.

Again nothing against the GBA. It sure is a nice handheld system, but I bought a home console and even though I could afford a GBA I won't invest more money into gaming. It is expensive enough as it is.

Nintendo Gaming / Chance for punchout GC
« on: May 02, 2003, 09:01:12 AM »
I can say it wasn't a very good game because I, like everybody here, have something called "an opinion".

Taste differs Joeamis ... I didn't like it, you did. We're talking about videogames here, a subjective matter, so whether we like them or not is a matter of taste.

Nintendo Gaming / Chance for punchout GC
« on: May 01, 2003, 05:31:35 AM »
Remember the Punch Out game on SNES ? Wasn't a very good game ...

The original Punch Out was a excellent game, and I have great memories of it. But some classic games, IMHO, shoudn't be updated to the next-gen systems, and Punch Out is one of them.

Even if a GC Punch Out is made, it'll never have the same magic it had at that time ... I don't see how a 3D one would recreate the Punch Out feel.

Ahh nostalgia ...

Think of the Star Wars movies before Episode 1, and how we felt a new one would be so nice ... and then the result.

Nintendo Gaming / OFFICIAL Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes Discussion
« on: May 01, 2003, 05:21:16 AM »
From the very first moment I heard about MG on the Cube, I thought of a port or remake. After that, the recent news and the title "Twin Snakes" actually made me believe the impossible : could it be a new game ????

A now the sad truth : another remake, and not even made by Konami.

I'm sure SK will do a great job, but it ends the hope of Konami putting more effort on the Cube. Basically they just sold the right to remake the game, and hopefully Kojima will get to make his input on it as part of the deal.

It'll be cool to see MGS in full graphical glory, but I would have prefered a multi-platform MGS new game on the Cube than a remake exclusive. Many people won't agree with me on this one, but still it's my opinion. I've played MGS on PSX, so I will probably only rent it on the Cube, as a lot of people will probably do.

Nintendo Gaming / I just rented Eternal Darkness
« on: April 15, 2003, 04:55:44 AM »
Your damn right pal, it's a good game worth your playing time, but not the game of the decade as some people tend to call it.

Anyway it's a matter of opinion, so I don't even know why am I writing this. Oh yeah, I remember, I'm losing some time here instead of doing some important work.

Hmmmm.... procrastination !

Since my self esteem or my overall pleasure in life is not related to the position of my video game console in the so called "console war", it wouldn't change much, other than the fact i'd have the chance to play more 3rd party games (there sure are a couple I'd like to see on the Cube) and that I could be assured that my console would stand long enough to have a proper return on my investment (i.e.: not another Jaguar, 3DO or Dreamcast).

I don't want to be rude, but when I read a thread like this it takes me 18 years behind, when I was arguing in the schoolyard that the NES was better than the SMS, and I really wanted to have the best console. It seemed like at that age I needed to be conforted and approoved in my choices, needed to be in the winner camp, like all those kids who root for a sport team only because they are the champions.

Again I guess I'm probably one of the older user here even though I'm not that old, the majority of you looking to be around 15 (just guessing). I guess some things change with age, since nobody at work will tease me on having a "kiddy console" like it could happen in the schoolyard or hanging out between classes in highschool, and since teenagers just have this terrible need to be cool.

No offence meant, just my two cents.

Nintendo Gaming / the gameboy to gamecube scam
« on: April 04, 2003, 08:20:42 AM »
I agree with thecubecanuck.

I mean I'm sure the GBA is a nice console with a buttload of good games, but I'm not into handheld and I also barely have the time to play my cube. I don't care that much for little extras like that tingle tuner thing (actually I don't even know what it is, haven't started WW yet) or the AC island, but I must admit that I'd like to unlock the original Metroid without renting a GBA and a link cable (none of my friends got either). I mean I payed FULL PRICE for that gamedisc, so I should be allowed access to everything on it without any additional cost or purchase or renting. I mean even if dated it's a entire, stand alone and classic game I cannot access !

Anyway ... the moment they don't issue a game that will require the connectivity I don't bother that much ...

Nintendo Gaming / Video Game Music
« on: April 04, 2003, 08:10:42 AM »
I agree for Mega Man 2 ... I love the Bubbleman stage musid and the ending music was one of the best ending songs IMHO.

I'd also put the intro song of "The Guardian Legend" that continues into the music for the initial intro stage ...
