Nintendo Gaming / RE:Is Twilight Princess too long?

I think long games have it place, but there are a lot of appeal to short games too.  Also short games tend to have higher replay value.   How many times can you play thru a 70 hr adventure?  Then compare how many times, someone can play thru resident evil 4 or even Gear of War.

yes, games in general I think are too long, but there are always room for exception.  I got Zelda but haven't play it yet, but I like to ask if the game have any time killer fluff added to it that is not necessary. Think Windwaker Triforce quest.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: If Far Cry is online...

Geez, I don't know if I should be happy with Online or not.  On one hand, I want to play my friends online, on another hand, I'm dreading the friends list system on the Wii.

They should have made the photo channel support all video formats without the need of a converter.  This would make Wii a better value.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Why I Plan on Re-Buying All My Old School Games on VC

They had to balence the price the customer is willing to pay with the money developers want to get back for their investment.

I pretty sure the developers has gotten their money back many times over.  These games are really old and the cost to develop them were pretty cheap relative to today.  They are absolutely not losing any money by re-releasing them on VC.

I know that I will only buy a handful of games on VC at the current price, but I would definitely have brought more on impulse at a lower price.

It would have helped if Nintendo allowed a time limit demo on these games. That way, I wouldn't mind investing $5 - $10 on games i have never played before.  Risking $5- $10 on a game that I might not enjoy, is kinda uncool.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:paying for VC games
« on: November 29, 2006, 05:45:28 AM »
I think VC games are generally overpriced.  Yes, I would pay more for the more popular fun games, but there are thousands of crap games out there too.  Unless Nintendo only releases the AAA games. Another problem with VC games is that you don't own the games.  Nintendo has said that you are not buying the game, but simply buying a license to play the game.  When you pay $5, $6, $8, or $10, you are only paying for the rights to play it on the Wii.  The ownership of the game is non-transferable.   So basically, you don't get a physical copy of the game, you don't own the game, and you can't sell it in the future.

Also, the development cost of these games are really cheap and have been paid for a long time ago.   They also don't need to make physical copies, so there are no fixed cost involved.  Maybe a few pennies for putting up on the Virtual Console site.   So, I'm not convinced that they can't offer these games at a lower price and still not stay hugely profitable.  If they want to make more money and get more people to buy the VC games, they need to lower the price.
