[QOUTE]What are you talking about? Show me some evidence that says Hunters will be a complete Metroid game. I am not being biased for or against Nintendo with my criticism. It is one of the few games that actually uses the touch screen well and I give it that, though tapping the screen to do anything in a game is just about clumsy. For me the game needs to do more than take advantage of the hardware's capabilities for gameplay. The game needs some kind of composition and unity, otherwise it is nothing more than a multiplayer game.[/QOUTE]

Even if Hunters was only essentially a multiplayer game, does it really matter? After all that's all Unreal Tournament has ever been and few people doubt the success and fun of those games. I think focusing on cornering the market for competitive multiplayer games is an excellant move by Nintendo to dissuade people from jumping on the PSP train. I only wish they'd perhaps tried it with a new franchise. But if a regular Metroid Single player game is added, I consider this a bonus.

Well he is, Thats who he was designed for. Doesn't mean adults such as myself can't enjoy playing his games though especially when the challenge of his most recent ones seems more aimed at adults.

Oh comon Mario is a character for kids he isn't supposed to have any inner-conflicts. Link is assumed to say stuff inbetween interactions with NPCs but again his games aren't to serious or real.

I'm up to Emperor Ing in MP2 and yes Samus appeared quite emotional about the dead federation troopers and that was all quite good but it really irked me when U-mos would give you some instructions and Samus didn't really respond in any manner verbal or non-verbal. U-mos himself was completely devoid of personality also. Still its a great game and I love it.

Almost as scarce as female gamers are legitimate female characters. Sure, you'll find at least one girl in every Nintendo game, but, like the girl who claims to be a gamer but really only plays PC puzzle games, they're usually pretty weak

How about Joanna Dark? She was certainly a strong, smart female lead. Her dress sense was generally appropriate to the situation as well; waiter discuises, combat fatigues, trench coats, scuba gear etc. She seemed to show genuine emotion complete with Bond style glib remarks. Though you could argue Dr Carrol acted more human. She didn't make sexual remarks nor overly flaunt her sexuality excusing of course the promotional material. Her hair was cut realistically short too. Joanna may be the most credible female lead in a game ever.

As for Samus, when I first heard about Metroid I thought the powersuit was Metroid which was a sort of robot/mech thing. I didn't realise untill I played the games that a human is inside the powersuit least of all a woman. Samus has no humanity at all, I'm sure any psciatrist who saw a woman blowing up entire space pirate bases without any emotion diagnose the patient was totally insane

Nintendo Gaming / RE:What is the best 2 player game?
« on: October 09, 2004, 12:25:42 AM »
To reiterate Soul Calibur 2 is an excellant game period and is great for 2 player. I'd suggest more but I havn't played any other multiplayer games yet. Smash Bros melee is a system favourite for many

The domain was completely 100% free. And a friend hosts it for me on his comp so it doesn't cost me a cent to run

Soul Calibur for DS I'd buy that in an instant. Hopefully I can still play as Seung Mina and Sophitia.

Hi everyone,
I was hoping to find some Aussie forums that assisted Nintendoists in meeting up with other gamers for multiplayer sessions but as no such forums existed I decided to create my own

anc.no-ip.info/

Your all welcome to signup and post, even if your not Australian or do not own a current Nintendo system. The forum caters for all Nintendo systems and offers a forum for Australian gamers to meet-up with others to arrange multiplayer sessions.  There's a GB, GC, N64, SNES, NES, general, off-topic and player-meetup forum. I also set some ranks, post count 1 people start off as Goomba

I've only just opened the forum to the public so thats why its a little empty. I've been posting in a few forums to try and attract some interest. If you know of any good places to inform, I'd much appreciate your ideas.
Have fun

Nintendo Gaming / RE:What old franchises should Nintendo bring back?

I wanna see a 2D Donkey Kong Country 4 more than anything else but perhaps Nintendo doesn't have the rights to using Country in the same sentence as Donkey Kong since Rare left.

Thanks for the warm welcome all, Gee I'm lucky I posted I was Australian or I never would have found this great forum. I'd hate to see other Australians pass by PGC not even knowing the Aussie discussion board exists.

Anyway so how long you guys been Nintendoists; I've been playing since 1996 when I got my Snes, I'm 20 now In fact I still buy games for my lowly old SNES today, just bought Killer Instinct last week. I've also got Super star wars, super mario kart, DKC2 & 3 on my SNES.

My N64 enjoyed many multiplayer sessions of PD, Mario Kart, Pokemon Stadium 2, 1080 and Goldeneye. I also have Rogue Squadron, Dk64, Lylat wars, F1 World Grand prix and top gear overdrive. The later 2 I'm planning to get rid of as I never much enjoyed them.

My biggest gripe with Nintendo is how they seem to have let the Donkey Kong franchise fall to games that I just could not enjoy. DKC2 was my favourite nintendo game of all time beside Goldeneye and PD. Dk64 while technically brilliant just lack the charm and fun of its Snes cousins and this recent trend to Donkey Kong games involving music sounds even worse. I'd love a 2D Donkey Kond Country 4. Not sure if Nintendo could retain the greatness of the original DKC games without Rare though.

Currently I'm trying to uncover the nuances of Soul Calibur 2 on my GC which is such a great a fighting game as I'm sure you all know. Sophitia is my favourite character atm. Trouble is its hard learning to play with little human competition, my brother plays but the only thing I learn from that is how to dodge a flying controller when he loses

Any of you guys live in the Illawarra or shoalhaven areas of NSW or know of any Nintendo player meets ups or something similar there? I live in Shellharbour myself.

Well I get all my games from Ebay.com.au ussually. Most gamecube games are still in good condition with manuals because the console isn't very old like snes where manuals are rare. There are some risk but being able to save over 50% on rrp on almost everything makes it worth it in my book. Plus visiting local retailers is a fair hassle for me and a bit of a gamble due to their lack of games on shelf.

I just bought myself a gamecube of ebay got it for $217 with res evil zero, soul calibur 2, super mario sunshine, a mem pack and a wave bird and am very happy with it. It's a pity so few people seem to appreciate the GC in Australia store shelves are relatively small and empty compared to  PS2 and XBOX. Suprisingly X-box actually has the largest market share in Australia which is not the case anywhere else it seems.

Anyway I was wondering if there were any Australian Nintendo sites other than nintendo.com.au which doesn't even have forums Planet Gamecube is great, I really enjoyed reading some of those insightful editorials, it's great to be able to join International Nintendo forums rather than be denied access to nintendo.com forums. I'd really like to find some Aussie forums though where Australian nintendo fans could meet players who live in their area and organise  some great multiplayer games whether it be on the classic SNES and N64 which I both own or even Gamecube or GBA. Are there many other Aussie members on these boards.
Anyway I hope to be a part of many fun discussions on Planet Gamecube.
