I had to take apart my cube but didnt have the right screwdriver which really tics me off cause they can just put regular screws in there in the first place but they dont. So i didnt want to buy an expensive tool and I was going to repaint my cube anyway, so i took a steak knife, put it on the stove, got it hot, and burned off the 4 corners on top of my gamecube (where the screws are attached), I burned though all the plastic that held the screws together and then the cover came off with ease, there is no electrical stuff up in those corners that you need to worry about exept the power thing that you plug the power cord into, but it shoudnt get in your way. After repainting my purple cube red with gold and silver stripes and a picture of a skull and crossbones, I put the cover back on and filled in the holes with some putty and now it looks WICKED cool!

inside all disc drives are lasers that move inside grooves to read the discs, well there are little gears that spin that moves the laser, on these gears are some king of (white sticky substance) that act as a lubracant so the gears wont dry out and get stuck, at least all the cd and dvd players i'v taken apart, well anyway the laser on my gamecube seems kind of tight and I was wondering if the gears inside that moved the laser were off balance or got stuck, this happened to my ps1 and i took it apart and put cooking oil on the gears that moved the laser and it solved all my problems, does anyone know how to get inside the disc drive on a gamecube and reveal all the gears?
