Nintendo Gaming / RE:They should make a Zelda RPG.
« on: September 16, 2004, 11:06:49 PM »
Well, about storing stuff like bombs and your boomerang, does anybody remember the Zelda-cartoons? In there, Link had this sort-of-like magical purse at his waist in wich he could store spoils like bombs, bows and yes, even the boomerang. Maybe it would be a nice idea for Link to receive a magic purse as soon as he starts his quest, maybe a prize for completing his training or something? That would also be some nice old-school stuff, since it refers toward the Cartoon-series.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Zelda: Wind Waker was it a let down?

Well, i'd say the Wind Waker gives a deeper look in the how and why of the things that happened in OoT (i especially loved Ganondorf little talk about his past on top of Ganon's Tower), and yes, getting to kick Ganondorf's butt is lol. But what i missed whas a challenge, you had to do your best to beat the guy in all the other Zelda's he was in (still got nightmares form the final Battle in AlttP ). I mean, losing 1, count 'em, 1 heart when Ganondorf strikes a blow? No way, he's the biggest bad ass baddie of them all. i say 3 to 5 hearts with every blow! And how about using different items during the battle? You used the Light Arrows yourself in OoT, and had to do a part of the final battle without the Master Sword (damn! I though when i saw that).

Y'now, Forte is right. I only used the Hylian shield as adult Link for it's good looks with his green tunic after i got the mirror shield, wich in turn looks great with Link's red tunic. It would have been nice if you could use it more like you did in the battle against Twinrova, loved to shoot their own magic back at them

But, if i had to choose the most annoying Keese, i'd say the blue flame ones, the ones who can freeze you inside the Ice Cavern. If you're in bad luck, more of 'em will hit you without you being able to do anything. I spent quite a few fairies on those bastards...

Guess you didn't listen to what people where telling you about the Dodongo's Cavern then, Evil. I remember at least one person ( i believe it was the gate guard who wants you to get him a Keaton Mask)telling you you should get a better/stronger shield. When he told me that, i bought the Hylian Shield first on the Market Square. And about 3-4 games later, i found out you can find it inside the grave with the small treasure chest and the fairie fountain behind a wall you can destroy with a bomb.
So i guess you should listen to the NPC's more often, the're not always mindless idiots

Wow, Bill, this is like Mind-control or something, right?

You see, Bill and I talked about a new introduction of old items (especially from AlttP) last day, and now it's the number one talk on this topic. Talk about weird...
But, anyway, like i already told to Bill yesterday, i'd like to see a 3d version of the Magic Cape, maybe even a part of the game where you need it to advance in the main story, like the sneaking-in-a-barrel part in the Wind Waker. Try thinking of the stealth camo in Metal Gear Solid.
And yes, i'd say ditch the auto-jump and reintroduce the roc's feather as well, I always liked that in Link's Awakening (though there isn't anything i didn't like about that game) and like Bill told me, it should make you able to jump multiple holes.

Yup, I meant REAL remakes, like a 3d version of AlttP. I guess what you are referring to are games like Mario bros. 1,2&3 being brought to the GBA. If that is the case, that's not remaking a game, it's porting the game. Or you should call the added feature of Mario making comments a remake...
Not that I mind Nintendo porting old classics to a modern system, I like it, it gives new gamers a look at what old games where like (WAY better than most of the crap today...) and gives older gamers like Bill and me a chance to play old long-lost classics again. I'm thinking about buying Exitebike myself, can't remember where i put the NES-cartridge...

Yo Dizzy, guess you didn't read the previous posts? I really hated every F*cking time Moldorm (did i get it right now, Bill?) pushed you off the edge of his battleground and you had to do the whole d*mn thing over again. Sorry for being such a foul-mouth, but like I told before, I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate that boss!
And something else, those Wall/Floormasters aren't THAT bad. Sure it's annoying if you get put back right in front of the entrance of a temple/dungeon, but be glad your progress up to that point is saved. If i had to hit Moldorm 1 more time and i got pushed off, i'd love it if i just had to go back up and hit him 1 more time... But noooooooooooo...

Guess i'll have a look-see at Four Swords then. Sounds like fun. Only hope my lil' sisters can play Zelda as good as i can, considering it's a 4-player game
And, um, Bill, mind if i add u to my MSN messenger-list? I'd like to talk to u 1 on 1, that's easier.

yeah, but still, i don't see four swords like a completely new Zelda. Or is it just as big like any other game in the Zelda series?

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Upgrading the Master Sword
« on: July 12, 2004, 11:17:39 AM »
Can't argue with that, mumei, only thing i DO want is that IF they re-introduce the golden sword, you should still be able to see it is the Master Sword, not making it look more like the Gilded Sword.
You see, ever since OoT's Master Sword, there has been made shall we say "a standard" of what the Master Sword should look like. I don't want Ninty to screw this by making the golden sword something completely different than the Master Sword it has been made of. But i guess we both understand eachother now, right?

Woops, you are right Bill. But i've battled so many bosses in the Zelda-series that i forget their names...
(now don't you be calling me a newbie, i've got all the Zelda's that ever came out, from Zelda and Link's adventure for the NES, to the Windwaker and the Collector's edition for the Gamecube. And about Four swords, i've got A link to the Past on my SNES, so buying the GBA-version is a bit useless, 'cause i'm not gonna spend all that money just on 4 swords...)
How about we forget this little mistake, or else i'll get Shigeru Miyamoto mad...

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Upgrading the Master Sword
« on: July 12, 2004, 02:43:18 AM »
Well, mumei, i have played AlttP all the way to the end, and the only thing i noticed about upgrading your weapon was a different color and a stronger hit. What i meant was that there should be only 1 real master sword, and that you should be able to switch between different weapons like in OoT.
But i guess you are right that there should be different one-handed weapons so that you can still use a shield. More like MM, but still being able to switch back to previous swords.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Zelda: Wind Waker was it a let down?
« on: July 11, 2004, 12:47:52 AM »
Well, since everyone is talking about AlttP, i'll just give my opinion about the game:
Yes, A Link to the Past is the best game ever for the Snes, the graphics rock, even today, and the Light / Dark world is a very original feature, BUT i found 11 (or was it more?) dungeons just a little bit too much. After completing the Marsh dungeon in the dark world I had the feeling: "about time i get to kick Ganon's butt", but that's just me, I guess.
And about making a 3d remake, I say the idea is very nice, but I dunno if nintendo can make the game again in 3d. Sure, the new Zelda proves they can make beatiful games today, but I think they dont want to make another Link to the Past, they never made a remake of an old game did they? Just new games referring to old games.

So, Mumie, you're talking of upgrading it like in Soul Calibur 2, stronger sword, shorter reach, longer reach, weaker sword, right? Still i think that having different swords has a point. You can't change the Master Sword, 'cause then it wouldn't be THE Master sword anymore, but if you want a stronger sword in OoT, just use the Giant's Knife/Biggoron's sword.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Zelda's new double personality
« on: July 09, 2004, 09:18:42 AM »
Y'now, a lot of people say the new Zelda look a lot like The Lord of the Rings, so I'm hoping for a Arwen-elvish-princess-like Zelda. Arwen's just beautiful....
Sure hope Zelda won't end up with an alter ego that changes her into a hairy female dwarf, or one of those butt-ugly orc's/goblin's/uruk-hai's (take your pick, who do you find most ugly?)

Hey, guys, what ever happened to Molgera, you know the big worm-like thing (sub)boss enemie guy.
For those who still don't know who i'm talking about (you morons): he's the first dungeon boss in Link's Awakening, the third boss in A Link to the Past, and the third form of puppet Ganon from the Wind Waker. I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate this guy, 'cause you HAVE to defeat him if you want to continue the game, and this is especially annoying in LA and ALttP, 'cause you're still very weak if you fight him and he can push you off the room from the edge and then you have do do it all over again. I wanna take my Narsil sword and smash the snot outta Molgera, but if I do that my tv is broke...
And yes, Peahats are verrrry nasty as well, but they follow the same pattern over and over, so just evade 'em and hit 'em when they land, then you should be ok.

There are really lots of things relating to previous games in the wind waker. The stained glass is just one of them. Anyone noticed that the Hero's shield (the 1rst one) has the same look as your shield in Link's Awakening? or that the bunny hood is in the workshop of the figurine-maker? He also ownes one of the origami-cows from Majora's Mask.
Let's make this a topic where people can tell about these little extra's...

What, you didn't play the Wind Waker? Valoo is a dragon, isn't he? I was thinking about Link finding more of Valoo's kind, and saved a baby dragon from a boss-monster. As a thank you, one of the dragons (maybe his daddy) offers to take Link werever he wants to go.

I also miss Navi/Tatl. Sure, WW was too easy to ask for any advice on how to beat bosses, but Oot and MM where more difficult and thus the fairies really helped me out. So I'd say the next Zelda should be more difficult, more like Oot & MM, and should have a nice fairie comeback (How about fairies live forever and Link from the WW (hero of Winds) encounters Navi on the new-found land. Navi tells Link what happened to the Hero of Time-Link after Ganondorfs defeat, so we don't have to discuss that anymore.)

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Question about MM

Yes, I think the forest child has to be Saria as well. Mido thinks only about himself and Saria, so he wouldn't bother to teach some stupid skullkid Saria's song, would he?
And Link was to busy fighting evil, so he couldn't have teached him the song either. What bothers me though, does Kafei ever return to normal? I found all the masks, and at the ending sequence you don't see him. Does anybody know if he returns to normal?

I think Nintendo has ripped us off with the new Final Fantasy.
I mean, first you got to buy a gamecube (€ 100-200), the game (€ 60), if you want to play with multiplayer, wich is the best part of the game, another 4 gameboy advances (€ 400(!) and 4 link-cables (€ 40). That comes together to € 600-700 for the complete experience!!!
I found it bad enough you had to either buy a gamecube-mariokart set, buy 1080 and mariokart or collect way too much stars to get Zelda: Collector's edition, but this goes to far for simple game-experience! 700 f*cking euro's !!!
Like I said, Nintendo is becoming more of a profit-company then a gamers-company, to me anyway.

I agree with Bill. 8 Dungeons as a max, and 3 "training"-dungeons.
They should be as big as those of Oot and MM, but with the detail of WW.
Not too many items either, though more empty bottles are always welcome. Lots of land, and just lake Hylia wich you have to cross with a boat to get to the desert (and the Spirit Temple, that HAS to be in the next Zelda). You should start with Epona, or some other horse, and later you should get the choise to call a dragon as well. Pegasus boots should make a comeback, and just as mentioned before simply equip and charge up your sword to dash.
