Nintendo Gaming / RE:Resident Evil 4 = 3 Discs

3d dosent equal exactly bigger.  But i would guess it would be the textures  seeing as you have to look at things from more than one angle now.

General Gaming / RE:psp specs revealed
« on: July 31, 2003, 10:37:06 AM »
33 million polys... you would think sony would have learned their lesson with the ps2's overblown specs.
I would expect something in between n64 and DC at best.  If they get this thing to have a battery life longer than 3 hrs and cooler than 2000 degrees farenheit then ill tip my hat to them.

Id enjoy some competition finally in nintendo's pet sector. Seeing as there is some threat to nintendo's utter dominance in the handheld sector, I would guess that the sucessor to gba is coming not too long after PSP.  Id prefer they develop the gba's sucessor with the same care and talent that created the gamecube.  Its an INCREDIBLE system without a doubt.  I didnt feel the same way about the development process the gba went through.  I seriously look at the gba as a system with all of the strengths of the snes (colors, resolution, sound, graphical effects) and the genesis (speed, processing power)  but not much if any improvements(except in the 3d area) over either system and it STILL has the crappy speakers from the gbc.  My main dissapointment with the gba is the fact that it only has 4 buttons rather than 6.  If they were so hell bent on porting so many of the great snes games why dumb down the control scheme from the console you would have yourself make ports from?  As long as the gba plays games, and its sucessor does that and does it better than anyone else im happy though.

Possible SPOILER!!!

Thanks for the link alvinaloy, now we know there's a second playable character: Stylish Alastor, he looks like a samurai.

Cool, they named him after one of dante's swords.

They're right..... what self-respecting 10 year old has 500 bucks to plunk down on a over blown cel phone with crappy games?  Then again... what self respecting adult has 500 bucks to plunk down on an over blown cel phone with crappy games?  You can buy both for less than half of what that thing costs and still have cash for games left over out of that 500 bucks.  Since they couldnt sell it in any other way they use gaming as a way to get the tech-heads excited about it which is where the hype comes from mostly.  Oh, god i cant WAIT to see this thing crash and burn just so I can stand over its charred remains and laugh at it.  When the first half decent competition for the handheld market comes along (PSP I guess) then i can get excited.

Nintendo Gaming / Pre-orders Closing in on OOT
« on: March 12, 2003, 06:27:29 PM »
Thats a common misconception.  The retail chains ordered 4 million copies to meet the potential demand.  But only 400,000 or so were pre-ordered by  the customers.

Nintendo Gaming / Finally! Zelda Commercial
« on: February 18, 2003, 05:16:07 PM »
Its a damn shame that the only advertisments for gamecube exclusive games come directly from nintendo's first party. Whats worse..... its too little, not too late, but damn sure not enough.  You would think to try to compete with ms with their commercials.  I mean the ratio is literally 15:1 for xbox to gc tvcm's. Im going to smash someones skull in if i see tha damn blinx commercial one... more..... time.

Nintendo Gaming / Does Wind Waker have pre-rendered videos (FMVs)?
« on: February 17, 2003, 01:08:02 PM »
Nintendo expressed a GREAT intrest in doing everything in game engine, and not relying on pre rendered cutscenes when they showed those tech demos.

Nintendo Gaming / OoT and Master Quest Discussion
« on: February 14, 2003, 09:17:01 PM »
4x the pixels maybe but that dosent mean much when your using low res low detail 16-bit color textures with relatively low polygon models and enviroments.  Im not being nit picky or anything but I know it wuld have been quite possible to lock the frame rate at either 24 or 30 fps.  Theres not a point in the game at all where there should be any cause for it to slow down.  Running OoT at 640x480 locked at 30 fps all the time shouldnt even make the gamecube's gpu tingle let alone draw sweat.

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid Prime 2
« on: February 10, 2003, 03:48:39 PM »
Metroid is all about the upgrades and atmosphere.  Give me more creative upgrades and gadgets and even better level design and more creative ways to get around in it and im sold.   I cant really say anything torwards difficulty..... since..... none of the games really were that difficult.... maybe the first metroid game...
