Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mario Kart strategy & help thread

I haven't noticed that the "mini boost" does anything really. I've run time trials with and without the miniboost and actually get WORSE times with miniboost than without. Most likely this is because when I corner and slide I don't corner as tightly. I dunno. Is there a trick to getting the boost right? I wait till my sparks turn blue then release the trigger, but it doesn't seem to do much. Pretty pathetic actually.

Thanks. Sorry for posting in the wrong place. Looks like I'll go with an ATI All-in-Wonder or something.

Nintendo Gaming / Best solution for GC on on my PC monitor?

I've been investigating several options for hooking my Gamecube to my 21" CRT monitor. I've seen VGA cables and adapters from various websites:

I'm trying to figure out what's going to give me the best possible image and highest reolution. I've even been wondering if getting an HDTV tuner card might be an option. HDTV tuner cards have various inputs and DVI output which would work with one of my TFT LCD screens. But will it work?

Does anyone know what's the best hookup? I don't care if it has to run through my PC via software or just to my monitor. I just want high-res CG action. I'm also aware of the progressive scan issue -- that some games won't work with some VGA adapters. The games i want to play are progressive scan compatible so that's not even an issue either.

Thanks for any tips. If anyone knows of any reviews, FAQs or whitepapers on this, that would be especially helpful.
