Nintendo Gaming / RE:Games that should be remade for the cube

Grey, I understand what you're saying, but do you wish Metroid Prime had been such a "sequel"? Not me.
How about Mario 64 vs the side-scrolling classics? That's a tough one. I still feel SMB3 was the best of all the Mario platformers, and it was 2D. Mario 64 was hardly a faithful translation of the 2D classic not to mention Mario Sunshine which had dismal sales. However, when I play Super Mario World or the other classics I have fond memories of on the NES/SNES, they just don't hold the same appeal to me on the GBA. My gaming experiences with today's amazing hardware capabilities have dulled my nostalgia for the classics.
The point is that going into an entirely new direction can be a great thing for a series, or it may not. It's too early to condemn Ninja Gaiden since it is not a finished product. Metroid Prime was GOTY 2002 from most media outlets. Mario Sunshine didn't sell very well. The latest Zelda was a departure from the past and into a new direction of cell-shading, and that game while good, did not translate to huge sales in North America. Metroid had the wildest departure from its classical origin, yet it was extremely successful while Sunshine and Wind Waker were not.
Tecmo has a vision for NG. I'm going to wait and see if it lives up to the hype.
