Nintendo Gaming / Acclaim drops all support for Nintendo!
« on: June 23, 2003, 11:48:42 AM »
NOOOO!  How am I going to play all the great games I was looking forward to playing?  Games like Viewtiful Joe, F-Zero GC, Mario Golf, Soul Calibur II...oh wait, Acclaim has nothing to do with any of the games I'm looking forward to playing.  Come to think of it, out of the 20+ games I own, none are from Acclaim.  As far as I'm concerned, this should have been the other way around--Nintendo should have dumped Acclaim.  Who needs a crappy, rushed Turok game when we already have the beautiful TimeSplitters 2, and the innovative Geist showing up in the near future?  This news make me more happy than upset.

But hey, how about their brilliant new advertising/publicity stunt where they spray paint trained pigeons with the logo for their new tennis game?  I hear if one of them craps on you, you can change your name to Turok, and Acclaim will pay for your dry-cleaning for a day.

Nintendo Gaming / Lost Kingdoms II
« on: May 27, 2003, 09:33:48 AM »
I can't remember the level's name, I think it's the one right before the castle, but there's a level with a door that has the royal seal on it...it's an outdoor level, with broken catapults lying about...sand golems and mantraps are the monsters wandering about.  Anyhoo, since you've been to the church, you're now able to open that door.  Inside that chamber is the card that you use on the castle gate's force field.

As for the four statues, after you turn them all, you'll notice they're all looking at a general location at the left wall ("left" as in, when you first enter the church, the wall on your left).  Just run along that wall, and you'll automatically trigger a switch that raises a section of the wall, which leads to a little treasure chamber.

Are you in the UK?  I remember hearing that the Europe version of MP had some enhancements, and I'm wondering if missile ammo sizes is one of them.  Because my US version is just one missile ammo size.

Nintendo Gaming / super mario sunshine - strategy questions...
« on: April 09, 2003, 09:57:17 AM »
The beauty of the game is you can do whatever you want.  The first "M" portal you opened, the one on the statue, leads to Windmill Village or whatever it's called...each level like that has 8 (I think) "chapters," each with its own shine.  So yes, each sub-level has a shine.  When you get the first shine in that level, and are back on Delfino Isle, you can jump back in and go for the 2nd shine, OR you could go visit another level, and get a shine there.  You can't do anything OUT of order, so don't worry about screwing yourself over in that regard.

As for revisiting sublevels (I call 'em chapters), you get a shine by collecting 100 coins in a level, and some chapters are easier at coin-collecting than others...so, say chapter 3 has lots of easy coins to get, that's the one you want to revisit.  I think you can get 100 coins in any chapter you re-visit, but some are easier than others.  Each level also has a hidden shine or two, but that's for you to find out

You should stay on the track you're on.  You're thinking correctly, but there must be some rooms in the temple you haven't seen yet...

faile', the compass (like all compasses) points north.  So, when you're sailing east, it LOOKS like the compass is pointing west (left), but instead what it's saying is north is THAT way (if you turn left, you'll be going north).  In other words, the compass shows which way is north, not which way you are travelling.

weekapaug, what do you mean?  Have you fed bait to any of the fish?  If you see a fish jumping in and out of the water, feed it some bait, and it'll fill in your sea chart.

Star Fox Adventures was just a Zelda game with no "soul."  It was pretty, sure, but it just felt like I was going through the motions...there wasn't anything really "special" about it.

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid: Getting 100%
« on: March 25, 2003, 07:48:10 AM »
I think the following needs to be added to The Bible:

GETTING A 100% ENDING IN METROID PRIME ONLY COUNTS TOWARDS ITEMS.  YOU CAN PLAY THE WHOLE GAME WITHOUT SCANNING A SINGLE THING, AND STILL ACHEIVE THE 100% ENDING, SO LONG AS YOU PICK UP EVERY SINGLE POWER-UP ITEM.

Now, if you're trying to get 100% SCANS, here are some troublesome ones you need to get the first time through:

--Hive Mecha - Thing that spits out the bees when you get your first missile
--Barbed War Wasps - Bees that come out when the incenerator drone spits flames at the ceiling
--Flaagrah's tenticle.
--Ice Shreikbats - Phendrana Drifts...need to do it the first time through because later they're replaced by baby shegoths.
--Scans on the space station you don't want to miss...Parasite, Parasite Queen, and one Pirate Log.
--Metroid Prime has 2 log entries, one for each form.
--You CAN NOT scan the invisible drone guarding the super bomb power-up, or the invisible pulse bombus down in the fungal part of the Phazon Mines...but  you don't need to in order to get all creature scans.
--Also, if Research scans DO count (I don't think they do), make sure you scan a map station before you use it, because you can't scan one after you use it.

Nintendo Gaming / Skies of Arcadia ??

I think I'm King of the Rogues now (near finished), and I've gone through AT LEAST 10 other titles, maybe more.  Just keep playing, and your reputation will improve.  I don't remember all the titles, if that's what you're asking, but if it helps, I know a few were stuff like Vyse the daring, Vyse the bold, Vyse the brave, etc.  I don't think your title matters all that much except for when you talk to certai  merchants they'll call you by your title.

This is one of the best RPGs I've ever played.  My game clock is pushing 45 hours, and I haven't finished it yet, so it's well worth the money.  Run, do not walk, to your local store, and buy this game.

Nintendo Gaming / More E3 News Here!!!!!!
« on: February 25, 2003, 05:39:41 AM »
There was an interview with Silicon Knights at least 2 years ago, I think on nintendorks, where the main guy basically said (in a secret, roundabout way) "Too Human will be on the GameCube."  Of course that was 2 (3?) years ago, but I don't see why it WOULDN'T be shown.  Unless they canned it altogether, but the fact that they've said ED ran on a modification of the Too Human engine makes me think they haven't forgotten about it, or put all that time into it (for the PS2) only to scrap it.

The really great thing is that Nintendo's booth could be 15 F-Zero displays, 15 Pikmin 2 displays, and 15 Mario Golf displays, and I'd be perfectly happy...the great thing is that there's a100% chance their E3 showing will be 10 times cooler than what would make me perfectly happy.
