General Gaming / RE:Help me please!! (Progressive Scan/vga cable)
« on: April 17, 2004, 06:48:40 PM »
Wave Race Blue Storm does support progressive scan.....make sure your cables are all the way in, hold b on bootup, and repeatedly mash the a button till you get a picture.(if I recall correctly, wave race has a memcard thing at the start, which takes up a lot of time...you may have to create a memcard file before it prompts you for pscan, do it on a tv first and then hook it up to the vga cable)

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Help me out (Viewtiful Joe related)

It wasn't disabled, but PAL games can't do progressive scan.(if they use freeloader and an import they can) But even without progressive scan, the digital port offers much better visual quality than the analog port, though that may just be the higher quality signal convertor included in the base of the component cable than the actual use of the digital port.

I was wondering what monitor this is. Based on the car on the box I'd guess Interact(and based on the design of the box I'd say Interact's Performance brand) but it looks nothing like Interact's monitor.

BTW, besides gamecube only screens, are there any high quality lcd screens or small normal tvs that cost under $200 retail?(and preferrably under $100 on ebay?)

Intec's website is definetely still up, and their monitors don't seem to be in short supply on ebay.(though most are used)

Nintendo Gaming / What's the best NTSC portable screen for gamecube?
« on: March 13, 2004, 05:43:34 PM »
I'd assume the joytech would be the best screen since it plugs into the digital port, however it's PAL only.
Intec apparently is better than Interact, but even then the quality of the screen is in question.
I've seen several other brands, many are no names. I know there is a hip gear controller and screen in one, but I have no idea about the quality, and red hot games(spin off of interact) has a 'digital screen' but I don't know if it's actually digital or if it's just the name.
Thanks for any opinions.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:New Paper Mario Anounced For Cube!!!!!!!!!

I think it is just a port/remake of paper mario on n64.

BTW, there was a ps2 tech demo called marionette, it had some neat physics with a marionette doll that can be tosses around.

I think once, around the release of the n64, there was an official nintendo picture with her in a bathing suit.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Official Game Boy Player Discussion

I'm pretty sure gamecube to gameboy player works, but I still wonder if you might run into some kind of glitch when linking like 4 gameboy players...surely someone at PGC has tried 4 player Four Swords?

The filter is the refresh rate. I assume sharp is 60 hz, normal is 30 hz, and soft is 20 or 15 hz. Some games rely on the low refresh rate of the gba screen to do graphical tricks, but as you lower the refresh rate you increase the 'lcd blur'.

BTW, nintendo probably recommended against linking gameboy players because it is impractical and someone could drop a tv on their head or something. And in a recent issue of nintendo power, they said the gameboy player can't be used for link ups with a gamecube game to download data into the ram.(you know, the cartless mode) Though I don't have 2 gamecubes to test this out, I did try a gba sending data to the gb player and it worked just fine. I also tried linking advance wars 1 and 2, but they only managed to find each other and not link, but as long as you're not doing fog of war the gb player works great for multiplayer advance wars. Bomberman isn't too shabby either, but it's not that fun.(old bombermans were better, plus the formula has lost some charm, especially when there are so much better console games available, at least advance wars stands alone...unless that gladius game has multiplayer, and a darn good one at that)
