Nintendo Gaming / RE:Viewtiful Joe Help

Ok Thnx! I didn't read through this post entirely, because I thought it was used for just the opening question, but I suppose it's used for all Viewtiful Joe questions.

I got one for you all. Yesterday I beat Hulk Davidson after a few tries. The only thing that still puzzles me is .... after he calls for those fire bombs .... there is always something that tends to hit me, and I can see it. It happens very fast. What is that?

I beat him because through my course I learned more and more about his attacks, and also that I can break his axe. It's always more fun to find out stuff by yourself.

But that one thing still keeps me puzzled. Next focus in Episode three !

Nintendo Gaming / RE:I-Ninja thread

I saw a preview of it on a few Dutch gaming shows.

They said, this game use a lot of things of other great games. Not that that is either somethign other games don't do, or that it's bothersome.

It combines hack n' slash with platform at basic. It looks actually quite cool I think. But ..... this year will also be the year Ninja Gaiden will come to life, don't expect the same. That game will be THE Ninja game of all time .... well .... it will be really good.

But I also like this kinda gameplay. Only downside is:

1. game = short (which probably means it's easy too, I don't mind short games as in 'amount of levels of old Mario NES games', but I do mind they make them so damn easy. If you try to be old skool, do it right, and make it a hard game.

2. I heard it won't be released in Europe on Cube. As I don't import stuff, for me it's bad news. But it's not THAT high on my list, otherwise I might consider freeloader or whatever it's called.

Does this game get a level select or anything? To improve your score, stuff like that.

I play it the first time through, sure I save stuff . But if it means replaying it, I got no prob with that! I hope this one sells good, since it's a beauty of a game, old skool high style. I try not read read too much here though, I'm near the end of episode 2 now. Finally a hard game again, good one! There aren't many hard games actually, bad thing, esp. since some critics asay some games are too short, yeah of course they are, they're too damn easy. Gameplay should be the key again, not graphics and stuff first place. Ikaruga is that other game btw, totally love it.

I love Metroid Prime, one of my favorite games .... but it sucks that you're hardly damaged, only during boss fights .... sure Devil may Cry can be TOO tough, or maybe this game too in higher difficulty, but .... that's what I love about certain games, esp. these!

Coop would be nice. I'd like a game even where you have to work together to reach a point, maybe that tears down playing alone though, but it would be a nice thing.

Nintendo Gaming / another sonic adventure DX topic.

I am awaiting some reviews. IGN.COM tore the game down big time, framerate and camerawork were the biggest issues.

As for framerate, well, I really dislike it in a speedy game like this. I got games with a few framerate issues, which I don't really actually mind, since they don't interfere, but for example I got F1 2002, and you just DON'T need framerate issues when you're driving fast, it annoyed the hell out of me, and I returned the game and got myself the Indiana Jones game, it also has some frame issues, not a lot, so rarely, but it don't mind, don't interfere and the game is fun.

As for the camera work, that's a bad thing, but on the other hand (but I haven't seen how bad it is), with games as Sonic, to me it's about learning levels, knowing where stuff is .... the first few times through I actually go through very slow (but I'm not that good at it yet anyway), after that you go for the challenge, but you try and try more to learn a level by heart, and even the stuff you can see, it's about being able what to do, even if you don't see it yet. With the 2D games of Sonic you couldn't look ahead and it was a speed game as well.

I haven't played this game, so I don't know how bad it is. I do know that companies these days sometimes bring games on the market they should have tested more, I don't care if I gotta wait another 6 months, the game needs to run well.

Nintendo Gaming / Wario World Njah Njah Njah Njaaaaah Njaaaaaah
« on: June 21, 2003, 09:35:47 AM »
I'm a big Wario fan, so I'll try to give my non-prejudged view on the game.

Currently I'm at world 2, level 2. The fun-factor of this game is really high, I heard it's short, but so be it. The fun is what you make of it. I must say that I don't understand the high delay, the gameprice and the endresult when it comes to both parts. But for me, I just wanted this game badly and enjoy it even still. The replay value is the fun factor, if you don't see that, that value might be low. But did the old Mario games have replay value? Yes? Why, ask yourself. If you think this game is short, well .... to me, so were a few of those.

Of course, they made a few strange gameplay things. Health is never an issue, especially when you play a lot of action, which I like, you always have enough coins. Reviving yourself for a mere 200 coins at a Boss, which means you start with FULL HEALTH and he again his his low health, or the way you left him .... come on .... this just CAN'T be Nintendo's decision, must be development, at least I understood another company developed it.

In any case. I adjusted my playstyle to it now, since it feels like cheating. Even if it's in the game, something HAS to make it challenging. So I just replay the entire field if a Boss kills me, after using it for the first time, it just DIDN'T feel right, normally when I get a boss, I feel like I accomplished something. The bosses are very fun though, they came up with a few nice ones.

Another thing I changed was, when I'm in the mini-platform games, I force myself to get ALL the coins, I won't leave until I do .... there's no penalty when you drop, which is another strange gameplay decision. So I made it a bit harder for myself, it's all about the way you want to play. I like it this way, BUT as a sidenote, I think development should have thought better (Did they at ALL?) about these things.

Again, the fun factor is high, like Wario should be.
