Nintendo Gaming / RE:NHL 2003 or NHL Hitz 2003 which is better?
« on: July 28, 2003, 12:38:03 PM »
personally, i think nhl hitz 2k3 sucked big time. hitz 2k2 was awesome but they added some rules in the 2k3 that took the fun away from hitz. i never played nhl 2k3 but i played 2k2 for comp. that game was ok, bad controls and the dont act very human like. i reccomend hitz 2k2, no other hockey game rivals it.

Need for Speed Underground is slated to ship for the Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance. The game is being developed by EA Black Box.

does that mean only gcn and gameboy advance? and what do they mean slated? i really dont think EA would do something like this but i think that Nintendo is giving out the wrong messege.

oh and one last forgotten point, yenko, nintendo did not shoot themselves in the foot. if they had used a CLV, then extra performance wouda gone to waste, at least with a CAV drive, they have higher transfer rates at the outside of the disc. with a CLV, if it chaged speeds....wouldnt the game stutter as its slowing down? its just some expierence i had with my cd-rom. as im playing quake 3, it needs to load stuff and when i go into the player menu, it loads the player model to show myself. it just sits there making the same sound over and over again till the cd drive spun up and loaded the player menu.....

enigma, sry for the acronyms but stfu. yenko is making total more sence than u do. what does less torque have to do with anything? if u spin it too fast, it will actually try to list off, since the gc disc is also lighter, it would make more sence. And yes more data is writen on the outer edges. if you look at cd burners these days, a 48x and a 52x does not have a REAL actual performance gap of 4x. Practically the same as 32x. Any cd-rw drive over 16x burns quicker after it gets to the middle. it bumps up it speeds as it gets to the mid, 22,24,32,48 at the very outter edge. Just take nero and see. Larger discs have more data being spun on the outter edges so the transfer rate does actually increase. u can also do this. Take a regular sized cd-r and burn 700 megs of anything on it. Take nero and use the graph to see ur maximum read/transfer rate that ur cd-rom is doing while ur trying to read the same disc that u just burned. I bet u it starts at about 16x and workx its way to maximum by the time it reaches the end of the disc. now take a mini cd-r and do the same test with 185 megs of data. it would again start out at 16 but stop half way of ur full maximum read/transfer rate and not maximum, ur losing half the speed of ur drive. just someeting to point out.

all in the end, none of this matters, as long hard solid programming, like whats implemented in metroid prime, all of this to point out is realy nothing. just something i wanted to say, its not what it can do, its what u can do with it.

Nintendo Gaming / Where did you Guys buy your Gamecube at?
« on: June 30, 2003, 06:53:23 PM »
ehh getting my cube really pissed me off. i only bought it like 2 months ago, but i was a fan from day one. just was racked for cash. anyway, there was a 150 deal going around with metroid prime so that was my first choice. i went to compusa and they said u gotta be a damn member for the deal, 50 dollors a year for membership for 3 years....SCREW THAT. WHAT REALLY PISSED ME OFF, I COULD GET IT ON COMPUSA SITE , GAMEFIXX.COM FOR 150 AND GAME WITHOUT MEMBERSHIP.....PISED ME OFF THAT DAY.i really didnt wanna wait, finally got the cash so i wanted it rite then and there. anyway after that, more cheaking online, i could get, a black cube, mem card 59, extention cord, two controllers, and carrying backpack for 160. GREAT DEAL, but i didnt feel like waiting, it was at kbtoys.com they dont sell it anymore, but sometimes they do give u nice little extras. best buy surpisingly had it for 150, no game, screw that.....circuitcity...150 no game...screw it.....walmart none in stock....scrrew it.....then my last stop. TARGET!!! 150 with metroid prime, jet black. YAY, went home, played prime until like 12, had skool the next day or i wuda stayed up longer.....ahh my sweet samus.......

Nintendo Gaming / Game difficulty? Why so easy?
« on: June 30, 2003, 06:41:57 PM »
hahahah, u want a hard 3d game? play ts2 story mode on hard and the last few challenges, ive been bustin my nuts for the last few hours trying to beat it. i remember super mario world days when ur jumping skillz was all u needed to beat a level. it got repetitive but no one cared.......people judge games too much these days, take a game, and enjoy it, thas what it was designed to do. but alot of 3d games are more challenging than 2d, metroid? u cant tell me the 2d version is challenging, it just takes time, not skill. metroid prime on the other hand is all about how u carry out and in which direction u jump, shoot, and are looking in. if the time is spent into making a game hard, it will be just that, if it was made to be ez and enjoyable, it will be that too. ww was shooting at tiny babies i bet. looks like a damn cartoon anyway. its not supposed to be hard....many cudnt beat OOT so they complained. OOT was too much, WW is too little, u guyz are never happy....tsk tsk tsk

Nintendo Gaming / Rattling hardware????
« on: June 28, 2003, 10:27:29 AM »
first of all, nes games were extreamly unpredictable.  Next is that i forgot to mention that the end of the electrical plug for the cube is burned, there small circular burns across the metal connectors.  Usually when i start up my cube, i dont let it go for hours, 6 average. Shud i give it breaks in between to ensure longivity? are the burns normal?

Nintendo Gaming / Rattling hardware????
« on: June 28, 2003, 06:45:26 AM »
i dopped my power supply for my gamecube the other day, on carpet nothing very hard and not from very far up, i am 13 years old and VERY short, if 4'5 means anything. ( the power supply or w.e it is im taking about is the big rectangluar object in between the power cable and the cable that insrerts into the cube) anyway i picked it up and for no reason at all , i shook it. It rattled.....not a tiny piece in there that cuda broke off, the entire thing inside rattled. this is a wierd request, can u all shake ur power supplys to see if anything moves inside? also my friends' memory card has bits inside that rattle, is that normal? my memory cards are complete and no rattling. ca u all plz shake ur hardware?  thx

if they would remake jet force gemini and goldeneye with new features and some added extras, id easily pay 49.95 for them. nwo revenge anyone? wresltlemania? my friends and i played that for centuries, but i doubt that nintendo has the rights for those games. small list......remakes, not identical games, i want better graphix, added extras and improved gameplay if possible.

goldeneye
perfect dark
jet force jemini, they were making a sequel, R.I.P. RARE!!!
Theses are the games i never bought for 64:
OOT, Donkey Kong 64, Mario kart 64, great games but i never had them, i have played them though. seems like a crime now....

General Gaming / Serial Port 2?
« on: June 25, 2003, 01:01:08 AM »
it would be cool if they add an expansion on it, it has no socket comming out of the right of it like the modem place. they could add extra memory i guess, it mite help a bit with framerate, but i doubt serial ports go fast enough to transfer someting that requires so much bandwith.

General Gaming / cube brightness on plasma tv
« on: June 25, 2003, 12:55:25 AM »
ive noticed all nintendo systems get a bit darker when on the screen, unlike others like ps2 and xbox.  from the days of the super nintendo, my friends and i needed to adjust the brightness on our tv's.... Its something with the cable. The ones we always used was an RF cable, and that always made it darker...oh and how did u connect it? thru RF, RCA, or Composite?  OR S-video?

General Gaming / Hooking up to a monitor
« on: June 25, 2003, 12:51:22 AM »
BAH!! ALL LIES!!! you dont need to spend more than 40 bux.  I just bought a tv tuner, msi tv anywhere, hooked it up to its S video port, but i needed to convert the audio RCA cables to 1/8 phono jack that my sound card IN channel supports, u probably will need to do the same. i ran the software inside windows, BAM full screen playing.  Quality lacks a bit but id rather do that then spend a hulleva lot of money.

General Gaming / Possible fan change for GC
« on: June 25, 2003, 12:47:35 AM »
u can just add LED's to the fan there, but it wont glow the entire fan like clear fans. LED fans are nothing more than a clear fan with a Diode somewhere on the fan, u dont need an led fan, u need a 60mm clear fan whcih u can add LED's to later. there must be someother way to power led's from inside the cube, i doubt anyone would go around messing with this though.

General Gaming / Progressive Scan Questions
« on: June 24, 2003, 02:28:07 PM »
only way to get progressive scan to work is use a HD cable from nintendo. the RGB cable for HD used with the currect cable just for sound. then u need a game that can use prog scan, ie. metroid prime. in the manual, it says to hold B or something like that when its starting up. it will ask u if u want to use prog scan and u select yes, this will only work if u have the HD cable and a game that supports Prog Scan.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecubes Graphics
« on: June 24, 2003, 02:07:23 PM »
isnt that what i said? well if u didnt understand me, thas what i said. but if u want to talk about headroom, ps2 has the most, its custom API allows it to have infinate effects in a game, opengl and directX has its limits but they havent been reached yet and probably never will be.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecubes Graphics
« on: June 24, 2003, 08:12:41 AM »
you people are taking this wayyyy out of where it is supposed to be. There are two ways to look at this. First With hardware.  PS2 has the most powerful processor, then gamecube with is based on power pc by IBM and then the XBox with the p3.  Video card concerning, it goes xbox with a slightly modified g3, then the flipper in the gamecube, then ps2.  Now what really matters SOFTWARE gamecube is based on opengl, xbox uses DirectX, and ps2 uses custom assembly. xbox graphix are the easiest to make look good, because it just uses what computers use, and computers by far have the best graphix out of all these, Apple line up comps to be more specific. ps2 graphix are very hard to program because it has its own standard which is why the GTA's look like super nintendo graphix in 3d. Nintendo went with the flipper which uses opengl, also a computer API but harder to program than directX but if programmed correctly, it can top DirectX, to put this in perspective, what looks better? quake 3 or UT? quake 3 of course, it uses openGL, UT uses directX. gamecube has the potential to look much better than halo 2 screens, but its wayyy to hard to program, and even with S3 texure compression, they cannont fit it into a disc. xbox isnt going to look much better than halo2. that is the end of the line, that is as far as directX goes, but metroid prime is no where near what gamecube can render. ps2 would top all of them off, like gran turismo, but hey, its just about dead guyz. no one is spending the time to make things look as good as they can, but gcn would top alll of them off. end of story.

Nintendo Gaming / 3rd Party Control???
« on: June 22, 2003, 03:53:16 AM »
u guyz actually like the G3?? i hate that piece of crap, they changed it too much, play ts2 with the pellican and then switch to a real controller...feel the difference? now u tell me which one feels nicer. actually this might be personal reference, so last nite i went and got the circuitcity pack. btw, the conrtoller was not a microcon, but a pro pad, its like a microcon just larger.  it came with the propad, two extention cables, and a memory card with a case.  the controller alone is 12.94, extention cables are 6.99 each, and memory card from mad catz is 5.94. i got it all for 15.99, tell me i didnt get a good deal.......oh and btw i love the controller!! feels so mich better, one problem though, the left anolong stick is being stuck when i push it forward, it seems there is some indentation in the controller just above the stick, and when i push it forward it gets stuck by rubbing against the indentation, i wanted to put some oil on it but is that really a good idea? oh and my anolong stick for my OEM gamecube controller is getting pretty loose for a nutrual position, it moves a bit in the middle really loosely, u need to bring it to the outer edges to make it work.  how can i make it as sturdy as it was before? thx for any help
i write too much

Nintendo Gaming / 3rd Party Control???
« on: June 21, 2003, 03:11:10 AM »
k,  i recently got timesplitters 2 and hitz 2002, now all my friends want to play and i bet i will have a full house once i get SSBM.  The thing is, to save a few bux, i purchased a pelican g3 controller from walmart for 15$. good price, bad controller, its wide, feels like xbox, have to push down Z way too hard, no grip on c stick. the c stick is where it ruins it, trying to control myself in ts2 is impossible when my thumb slides right off the stick.  Anyway, my next choices are a real gcn controller for 15$+ shipping at walmart.com orrrr i can get a mad catz microcon starter pack, one controller, memory card 59, two extension cords, for 15 dollors THEN a 10 dollor rebate, no shipping charge. This is at circuit city for a weekend sale.  I hope the micocon doesnt have any major problems, i was wondering if i can get some people's first hand expierences with the controller....anyone?
