TalkBack / RE:Aladdin GBA Impressions

The MegaDrive/Genesis version OWNED the SNES version completely!! I remember back when this game came out, I had the choice of getting it or Sonic + Knuckles for christmas, and i never regretted my choice.

Unlike the extremely bland and disjointed Snes version, the MegaDrive/Genesis version actually felt as though you were playing through the movie, and dare I say it, was probably one of the best games on the system, and definitely is in my top 10 games of all time

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid Prime 2

Despite what the hardcore fans of Metroid might think, the gaming industry no longer runs to suit your desires. It makes perfect sense for Metroid Prime 2 to come out end of this year/start of 2004 with major graphical and gameplay upgrades, and then have a new metroid prime game ready for a few months after launch of the next console in 2005.

Perhaps have Retro make another game along a different vein after MP2, just so they dont get too single minded and to keep the dev team fresh.

Nintendo Gaming / Australian Gamecube sales

$h1t man, this is a damn shame. NOAus aint doing jack $h1t to promote GC sales, and its nothing to do with its low budget, I feel that it just cant be arsed getting into gear and doing more to make sure that they ram the GC message down people throats.

Either that or they have got a totally mismanaged business plan, and are under the thumb from their Japanese parent to just sit low and not no anything that might jeopardise their already dicy position in the Australian market.

Damn, its news lie this that really inspires me to try and break into the Nintendo Australias corporate structure, get the top job ad really shake that $h1t up! (May not be correct corporate lingo)

I dont know about the dusty laser theory. My whole system is clean as, and from what ive seen inside is that its all nice.

Yeah, I've rung Nintendo and they said I should bring it in and they will have a look. min is still under warrenty, so there should not be any problem with that, but the BS thing is that they said that if they dont find anything wrong, there is a 40 buck (Australian) charge for them just looking. They'd better be finding summin

Anyway, i read on another board that Eternal Darkness tries to read 2 tracks at a time, and perhaps due to metorids loading system the laser cant keep up or summin. Time will tell. Gonna be a week before i take the thing back, but ill keep you all posted on the proceedings.

Heh, lucky this has happened now and not later. Ive still got 10 days worth of warranty left

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo: Universal Game Developer

I admit it would be cool to have a number of seperate dev houses, each one for a different style of game, but that would mean that the games spawned by these houses would become to formulaic, and by the book. The best thing about dev houses that have a diverse range of game styles is that each style influences the other, and so you get games that mix all the elements together and become unique and memorable for that reason

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo and Rare
« on: May 01, 2003, 07:21:46 PM »
I gotta say, Rare were good, but imo the only games that they made that were TRUE classics were teh DKC series on SNES, and then Goldeneye. Everything else was just not "up there". PD was a massive dissapointment for me, and i'd rather not waste my time on CBFD.

My thoughts are that it a combination of the two. Since it only happens with MP, then i blame the game, but due to the way that MP dynamically loads levels whilst playing, perhaps there is some bug in the hardware that cant keep up.

I dunno

I dont know if anyone else here as had this problem, but whenever i play metroid prime, and the games starts to load a new area, the system makes this really loud CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK, as if the cd laser has fallen out of its path as is amaking against the inside of the console. In addition, every 2 or 3 times that i play, after the clunk clunk the system will die, and say " An error has occured blah blah"

WTF!??!!? Ive cleaned the disk, gotten a new copy etc etc and it still does it! It almost makes the game totally unplayable, as i live in fear of the inevitable crash. Metroid is the only game that does this, altough i had it once with Eternal Darkness but was unsure if it was an insanity effect or not, cos i turned the system off in frustration. Also, the message did not appear as white text on a black screen as with Prime, but as an overlay on top of the game. Does anyone know if there is a general message that comes up, or if it is game specific how they display the error?

Im taking the cube back to nintendo next week, and they are gonnna have a fiddle around with it.

Anyone else had the same thing happen?
