Maybe that's the general idea... a depatrue from the old formulas.  Instead of Link and Mario defending the same pace in each of their games why not try something different this time around?

Nintendo Gaming / Basketball Games for Gamecube
« on: March 28, 2003, 11:36:58 PM »
NBA2k3 is probably the best basketball simulation to date.  Since Sega pulled their sports line-up you can usually find it for about $15-$20 new.  I bought it at Babbages a month ago for $20 and I recently seen it at Best Buy for $15.  I'd also get NBA Street, it's sad that it doesn't have 4-player mode, but you can usually find it for $20... so you can get the two best basketball games for GameCube for $40 or less.

Nintendo Gaming / Why Is Eternal Darkness Regarded So Highly?
« on: March 25, 2003, 03:54:45 PM »
Because it's creative; it's something new.  Although the game might not be everyone's cup of tea I believe it's so highly praised because it is a game that's unique at a time when most games are just rehashes of old stories.  Although everyone loves Zelda and Mario it's nice to play something new.  Most FPS are basically the FPS that came prior to it with better graphics, different weapons, and different levels... so it's not often that a game comes along that's so creative.  I also believe that's why so many of us look fondly back on when we were playing the original Nintendo... all the games were fresh and creative, so each game was a completely new experience.

I have to say thanks for posting... I despise people who can't refrain from telling me how a movie ends.  It'd be even worse with a game I'm anticipating this much.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo E3 Game List: What do you think?
« on: March 24, 2003, 07:22:45 PM »
After being blown away by Eternal Darkness I'd have to say I'm looking forward to Too Human more than any other game on the list (which is hypothetical at this point).  I'm also excited about Soul Calibur II; I still play the original on my Dreamcast.

Nintendo Gaming / M. Night should help make a videogame (For GAMECUBE)

I'm not a huge fan of M. Night; for good horror movies from last year I'd recommend "Dog Soldiers" and "Frailty" over "Signs".
