Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo service sucks

So I bought my son a Wii for Christmas this last year and we finally got around to connecting the unit to the internet.
Well to make a long story short i got an error code. Even though the router was found, it would freeze on the update.
I sent the unit into Nintendo and after 15 days i receive am email telling me that my Wii was modded with "freebrew"and the warranty was no good.
Like I said this was a new unit bought from Toys R Us and i really feel Nintendo is not holding up their coverage of this console. I plan on trying to take this back to Toys r US but as you all know they are VERY strict about games and systems.
