Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo lowers profit expectations... again

Does ANYONE judge games by their gameplay and not boob/blood/violence content anymore?  I love mario sunshine for the gameplay.  The graphics are nice as well, but not the reason I purchased a gamecube.  I bought it for Nintendo's games.  Every Nintendo game I bought so far gave me a very unique experience.  Luigi's Mansion: Kiddie, yes, but nothing else like it on any system.  Mario Sunshine: Kiddie, sort of but this game is the reason I bought a Gamecube.  It is the first Mario game in 6 years and I am pleased with it.  8 of my 12 GC games are made by Nintendo.  That's why I have a GC.  3 of the other 4 are exclusives.  The last is Vexx.  I bought it for GC because I like the Wavebird. Even with N posting lower profit expectations I doubt it will be the last N console.  N learns from its mistakes which is why it is now disc based.  Next gen maybe nintendo will look back and do more for marketing and audience targeting.  Right now they can sit comfortable at a fluctuating 2nd or 3rd place waiting out the current system war planning their next attack(GC2?).  Mind you they are STILL making money, just not as much as expected.  Keyword there "Nintendo lowers PROFIT expectations again".  Nothing to worry about.  The day Nintendo pulls out of the games industry is the day it ceases to exist.

General Gaming / The end of the world...

Listen Omen, if your friend is in that kind of opinion he should leave gamespot.  You cannot work at such a place being biased like that. It hurts sales for other systems in a chain reaction type effect.

"No, don't buy a gamecube buy an xbox, it has halo."

If I ever heard that shopping for a system I'd never shop there again and make my experience publicly known.

All systems have different games to cater to different needs.  Buy what you will play.  If your friend can only come up with halo as a must buy game for xbox(which it is), then he wasted his money as I can't see myself buying a system for one game.   Does he even own any other xbox games?

TalkBack / Metroid Prime 2 Poll at Nintendo.com

Zelda was also 2D.  It's easier to make a multiplayer 2D than 3D.  3D has lots more physics that must be applied.  True though,  we don't have to play the multiplayer option.  But I wouldn't want Retro doing a half hearted attempt(DK64), but rather a in depth one(Perfect Dark).

TalkBack / Metroid Prime 2 Poll at Nintendo.com

Metroid Prime was a 10 to start with.  To me the only way to improve a 10 is to give it  more of everything that made it a 10.  In MP's case:  longer, harder, more weapons/gadgets to use etc.   Multiplayer- No.  Connectivity- Give everything with or without. Without it just a bit more of a challenge to unlock it(having to beat MP on hard to play the original Metroid for example). 2D- There is the gameboy Advance/Player for that. Longer more challenging adventure- Bingo. I want the Screw attack back!

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo should pull out of the consol race.
« on: April 09, 2003, 06:46:01 AM »
I personally  think Nintendo is in the race for good.  I mean, come on they practically started the whole gaming scene after the 80's crash.  Nintendo's ONLY downfall is the fact that they are geared towards gamers and not the general public.  Meaning if you are already a gamer you know what to expect from Nintendo; quality first and second party games.  If, however, you are a casual gamer it might be a bit harder to respect some of Nintendo's own offerings.  Super Mario Sunshine would probably be dismissed as a kid's game, which it is not entirely.  Also the new Zelda.  I grew up on games and I have the fondest memories from my snes days.  I hope to look back and feel the same from Gamecube.  I am by no means biased; I own a PS2 and soon an Xbox when Soul Caliber II comes out(Spawn's the man!).  I just feel it would be an unwise decision for Nintendo to pull out.  If people won't buy Nintendo's games or systems now, why would they buy them games on other systems?  Besides, Nintendo has the most comfortable controller on the market. >_<
