Nintendo Gaming / Denis Dyack Interview
« on: May 26, 2003, 05:54:54 AM »

Mark my words, barring circumstances out of control, the name Dyack will go down in history next to names like Miyamoto, Kojima, and Naka.  Dennis is so intelligent and I love the games he plays with us, like the reference to the flash in MGS vs Eternal Darkness those many months ago.  Nintendo has done well incorporating a developer with such a sense of responsibility to the video game industry.  Their ability to think long-term is one of many reasons why I will always be a Nintendo fanatic.

Great job on the interview, PGC!

banned?

he had four topics posted today that were exactly the same thing as he posted a day or 2 ago.
And, in the past couple of days, he's posted the same stuff at n-philes forums & gamefaqs forums.
He's trolling everywhere. I point it out, & you want me banned?

Wow, I'm aveng & I'm going to whine & complain about everything. Then, I'm going to whine & complain when people whine & complain about me.

Mods, I don't care if you delete this post, but please delete those useless, repetitive posts by the aveng.

Nintendo Gaming / WaveBird Suggestion
« on: March 23, 2003, 07:29:14 AM »
I got the cube on release day. Currently, I have 2 Nintendo brand corded controllers, 1 3rd party corded controller & 2 WaveBirds. I love the 'birds.

The other day I went over to this guy's house to play Halo. Firstly, I wasn't that impressed. Secondly, when the controller rumbled, it really threw my game off. I asked if there was a way I could turn it off. PLUS, we all had to sit weirdly b/c of how far the cords reached and the way the furniture was arranged. I guess I'm just spoiled by the non-rumbling, wireless goodness of my wavebirds.

Nintendo Gaming / I am a 31 year old new GC owner
« on: March 23, 2003, 07:13:40 AM »
Hello, my name is JP & I'm an old gamer.

Really, I'm just 27 & a Nintendo customer. I love how Nintendo captures the imagination. And I'm very impressed with Silicon Knights. They have taken video gaming to a new level. The only thing I would change about Eternal Darkness is how linear it plays.

Anyways, the games that I like seem to be comparable to reading a good book. Even though Metroid Prime doesn't have a ton of FMV like Final Fatasy games, the story is still there to be read. Eternal Darkness has things that people are still discussing and trying to figure out on certain boards, as a matter of fact, I've recently picked ED up again & it still wows me.

Like almost everyone else that's posted about being an older gamer growing up in the Atari/NES era, my games back then were few. I already have like 13 or 14 games for the Cube, and that doesn't include my preordered Zelda: WW.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube Internet
« on: March 12, 2003, 06:27:16 PM »
wow! I thought this was going to be a sucky topic, but good points were made & everything has stayed sensible so far. Congratulations on a good topic with a good conversation.

btw, my opinion is that I haven't even liked PC online gaming that I've tried, so console gaming does not appeal to me at all.

I just want to say that ED is mostly backstory for the current story of Alex. Some people are saying its too easy, but I felt this game was akin to reading a book. There should be difficult situations for the characters in the game, but it shouldn't be made too hard for the reader/player to get to the end.

I feel that ED just sets up the story for an ED2...sort of like Star Wars Ep4 being good enough by itself (as compared to the other eps) to be the first movie in the series, but really just setting up this entire SW universe. Now that the ED universe has a reference point (the ED we all have & love), stories do not have to have a complete arc. They have to have AN arc, but it doesn't have to be as all-encompassing as ED - which touched on so many places & characters (playable chars, gods, demons/zombies, god helpers, & pious, who gets his own category).

I'm loving us all  bouncing ideas off of each other.
And special mention to the poster that brought up the yellow when bodies disappear.

Hey, its been a while since I've played, so excuse me if I say something ignorant.

But, at the end, I'm sure all of us were ready to beat the game, not experiment. When summoning the god opposite of the path you chose, would it be possible to summon Mantarok? Purple defeats the rest right? So, in theory it should work, but what would it do to the story, if it could be done?

Someone tell me if its possible & if so, has anyone done it.

Nintendo Gaming / Is the Dennis Dyack that posts here the real deal?

Yeah, same for me about the IGN boards. When they went IGNorant-sider, I bailed. I would have even understood if you had to join to post, but no, they make us pay to read. Not doing that. I miss reading and responding to Dennis there, but he stops by here now, so that's real cool. I was elated when he actually quoted one of my posts to respond to here.

Nintendo Gaming / Ghost Recon...
« on: March 09, 2003, 01:31:33 PM »
Me & a friend rented it last weekend & beat it. It's a little overwhelming at first, but once you get used to it, it gets good. I'll probably purchase it when the price drops. The coop missions are fun. My recommendation: rent it first.

Okay, Dennis, I'm following you somewhat.
I'm just curious as to why you're pointing this out now.
I understood from a recent interview with you, that a sequel to ED was a ways off.
As a matter of fact, the gaming public is really unaware of what SK is working on currently.
We have suspicions, but that's it.
NOW, you go and tease us about some thing(s) we missed in ED.
AAArrgggghhh!!

ED doesn't have anything to do with Too Human, does it?
You aren't already working on an ED sequel, are you?
You wouldn't be looking for a recent business school graduate to hire & let in on all of your secrets, would you?

Uh, Dennis, I think I might have missed something.
Yellow?
What yellow magick?
I don't remember it in Eternal Darkness.
But, I have neither read nor heard of the interview article that other poster was talking about.
So, maybe I'm just uninformed.
But, if this is a legitimate question, please elaborate on yellow magick (what game? where to find?).

Nintendo Gaming / Dust off the ol' 64 games.
« on: February 22, 2003, 10:15:36 AM »

Actually, I was suprised the other day. I was in a Kmart that was closing down & went to the electronics dept. All the GC games still cost a lot. But, I did see that they were selling some sort of connecting apparatus for the GB/64. I think you put in GB games in this thing, connected it to the controller (via rumble pak/save pak slot) & could play them on the 64. This was news to me since I thought the GC was the 1st system to do this except for the super gameboy cartridge on the SNES.

Nintendo Gaming / Need help with Top Gun: Combat Zones Code

Sorry, I can't help with the code thing. BUT, how are you liking the game. I am 27 & me & my dad loved the Top Gun on the NES. Is it good or fun?

I'm hoping its the nickname of Nintendo's online strategy. Mario + Internet = Mario + Net = Marionette

Here's to wishing!

Nintendo Gaming / Contra: Shattered Soldier ported over to GameCube
« on: February 16, 2003, 08:15:38 AM »
Now, correct me if I'm mistaken, but I thought this game got bad reviews and that it was not that good. I loved the old Contra on NES because so few games focus on co-op play. But if this one sucks, I couldn't care less that they ported it over to us.
