TalkBack / New information on Metroid Prime/Fusion Stories
« on: October 17, 2002, 08:35:23 PM »
Placement of Prime and Fusion in the Metroid Storyline, captured from shots on a Promotional video being played at the Cube Clubs.

Back in the corner of the Minneapolis Cube Club, we had a bunch of couches, and comfy chairs set up for demonstrating all the Panasonic gear. In particular, on the big screen Panasonic TV, was a Promotional DVD that you could browse through, that included some Metroid Prime and Fusion information.

The first set of pictures is for Metroid Prime. Basically describing where Prime fits into the timeline of the Metroid series, set after Metroid 1 on the NES, but before Metroid 2 on the Game Boy. Also inculded is a brief description of what's going on in the game.

The second set of shots deals with Metroid Fusion. Placing it after Super Metroid, the captions briefly talk about what's happening, mentioning the parasitic X virus, and the recent happenings at the planet from Metroid 2, SR-388.

TalkBack / Official Resident Evil site goes live
« on: September 04, 2002, 01:51:59 PM »
Capcom has opened up an inpressive site covering everything related to Resident Evil. Need to know the year of Barry Burton? They've got you covered.

When you first bring up the Resident Evil site at Capcom, you'll be presented with a quick age check, followed by a spiffy flash intro. Once inside the meat of the site, there's all sorts of information to be had. If you've ever had a question about the Resident Evil universe, this is probably the first place to look.

There's links to official game sites for all systems dating back to the original Playstation version, up to the latest in the series, Resident Evil 0. Basic game tips and strategy, followed by the numbers to call if you're really stuck. Character bios for pretty much everyone you can encounter in the games. A behind the scenes look ath the people making the games. A timeline of many important events relating to the series, and much more.

In addition, there's plenty of wallpapers to download, and seems like there's much more to come. I'd reccomend keeping an eye on the site, as it seems to be growing as much as an uber zombie infected by the G-Virus.

TalkBack / Darkblack Interview at Nintendo Europe
« on: August 29, 2002, 12:56:03 PM »
Nintendo Europe catches up with the Developers of the first-person horror game, Asylum.

With horror games such as Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness hitting the Cube, it's only natural that more developers will be bringing more to the genre in the coming years. UK Developer Darkblack is creating a first-person shooter called Asylum, which puts you in the role of one of four contestants locked away in a haunted asylum.

So far, it's sounding like quite a interesting game, with lots of chills to be had. Here's a few brief excerpts from the interview:

How will Asylum succeed in being spine-shiveringly scary? First off, we're taking the normal third-person view and shifting it to a first-person perspective, so you'll experience a deeper immersion in the horrors that surround you. Secondly, we're creating an atmosphere that's second-to-none - it invades your senses with every step you take. We work on this game every day and it still scares the living daylights out of us.

What's this 'RagDoll' system that Asylum uses? RagDoll basically makes game characters react as they would do in real life. When the player wounds a zombie, he will fly off his feet, limbs flailing as he goes, and when he hits the ground he will tumble, twist and bend realistically (depending on how much force was applied). Limbs may well fly off as well!

What weapons will we wield in Asylum? They range from scythes and chainsaws to surgical equipment. Some of these will have to be pieced together as you go, adding a nice twist to the gameplay.
