Nintendo is pretty much killing my wallet.

I'm in the same boat with 4 games in as many weeks + a Platinum GC w/a 5th game. Oh well, making up for lost time/fun I guess.
Splinter Cell doesn't interest me too much (at least not any of the console versions). I'll definitely pick up B2. With its features + multiplayer it looks to have a lot of replay value. Then this month we also have NBA Street Vol.2 which is an almost guaranteed buy. Of course there's still the tempting Skies of Arcadia & Timesplitters 2 too. Ouch!

Nintendo Gaming / Vertical Lines in Windwaker

Jollus-- It's not a graphic effect or artifact. It's a very thin ghost-like layering of vertical lines. It looks like interference of some sort.

Well if that's true it's disappointing, to say the least. But it won't stop me from playing or enjoying this great game!
I just hope Nintendo keeps it from happening in future releases. I also wonder if it's a coincidence that the only game it happens in uses a cel-shading based graphics engine?

I see this too, unfortunately.
It looks like interference of some sort (it has a "ghost"-like quality to it). I'm using a 27" t.v. w/an aftermarket s-video cable. I've only had my GC (Platinum) for a few weeks, but I've not seen these lines in any of my other games (MP, RE, RE0 & ED). I mostly notice it when the screen contains a lot of medium (blue) or light colours. I noticed it today when I was sparring with Orca (in the light brown colours). It's not a constant thing & the pattern can shift from thick to thin lines.
I'd like to know if this is a problem exclusive to all WW copies, both NTSC & PAL. If not I might try to exchange my copy for another.

Nintendo Gaming / I am a 31 year old new GC owner
« on: March 22, 2003, 10:47:36 AM »
32 years young...Just took the plunge & bought a GC. I'm more of a pc guy than a console guy, but this purchase scratches a recent itch I've had NICELY. System came w/Metroid Prime (my choice). I also picked up RE, RE0 & Eternal Darkness, along with some accessories. Pre-ordered Zelda WW; went EVERYWHERE trying to find OoT to no avail Still, I'm very happy
'scuse me...gotta go play some MP...

General Chat / Grown-up GC users?
« on: March 19, 2003, 01:19:42 PM »
Hello all. Just curious, any older gamers?
Once upon a time I was an avid gamer. Now in my early 30's I play the occasional sim/strategy title on pc, but that's it. The last console I owned was Dreamcast (which I bought soley to play Soul Calibur, although other titles followed). As I'm not a "hardcore" console guy anymore I can justify the purchase of a system to play a few choice 'A' titles.
Lately I've been experiencing great nostalgia for some of the classic Nintendo titles. Looking at such games Metroid Prime & Zelda WW I think I'm going to break down & buy a GC. Even if I only to play those classic Nintendo re-makes, I think I'll get my money's worth.
Just looking for feedback from the "older" crowd.
