Ahahaha. Don't forget the z-button boot sound. They would have to make that the default.

The simple explanation to all of this is that there is no overarcing series-wide connected storyline. There are humongous inconsistencies throughout the series that can only be explained by really REALLY stretching things. Wind Waker is the closest to a direct sequel the series has ever seen (this seems like it's changing, since Ocarina of Time onward has had at least some continuity involved) and the rest are just a mishmash of unconnected independent storylines.

Seriously, when you start relying on theories like "Zelda V was asleep in the temple when Link III was rescuing Zelda III from Aganihm, so that Link IV and Ganon XVIII could open the black hole that led to Termina!" you have to accept that you're desperately floundering for something that isn't there.

I think it's good they left the ending open in this game, cause, hey, it doesnt happen in too many games.  its just "mission accomplished, go home party and clean up the house ive not been to in months."  it just doesnt happen.

but they left a good opening for a new quest.

But I didnt catch this: was ganondorf's intentions good or bad?

Good for him, bad for everyone else

I wish the Ghost Ship wasn't just a submarine with Bubbles in it. I'd love to see a whole ghost ship dungeon in a Zelda game.

I'd actually like to see the Wind Waker story continued.

It's a dithering artifact that's visible during water transitions and sometimes in shadows or other lighting effects. There's nothing wrong with your game or your tv or your Gamecube. In fact, if you can see it noticably, your tv is pretty good.

Troy

And yet on the day of it's release people were posting in here thinking the words Sidle and Fell were typos.

Because he's SCARY. He switches poses without actually moving between them, he has crazy mood swings, and my GOD THAT SMILE.

Item collecting. What, did Rare have a hand in this game? Find the map, find the treasure. Yawn.
And what the hell is up with the iron boots and gold bracelets? I too wish Nintendo had delayed the game to include the axed dungeons. I want to EARN this shiznit. With the power of the Cube, there could have been more enemies in certain areas of the dungeons.

One Iron Boots dungeon in my lifetime was enough, thank you. ^_^

You're joking, right?

As long as the rumors of a big LAN-push are true, I'm a happy camper.

I only got messed up once because of time. But the fourth dungeon was just such a pain that I quit and I have yet to get motivated to play anymore. I liked the creepy yet whimsical atmosphere in Majora a lot more than Ocarina's.

My daughter and I have been greatly enjoying the new Zelda. I do have a complaint however. I've noticed whilst sailing, during sunset sunrise transitions, I get these whiteish vertical lines forming. It's extremely noticable, quite annoying and offputting and quite spoils the effect of the transistion. If the remainder of the game didn't run fine graphically, I'd suspect something wrong with the game itself. As the problem doesn't occur at any other time, nor do I suspect my television or the Cube itself.

I've heard reference to something known as 'dithering' and was wondering if this was a result of that process, and , was curious if anyone else has experienced something similar? Thanks for time and input.

I think that's some kind of dithering. It happens at other times too, but it's not as noticable.

Was it somehow too mature for an E rated game!?

I remember reading somewhere that the chanting in the fire temple was something about Allah being mighty or whatever. I have no idea if this is true or not, but if it is, it would explain why it has been changed.

Personally I'm surprised that the bonus disc was still rated E, given that the game has a much darker feel than Starfox, and there's STILL blood splashed around in places.

Nintendo Gaming / Zelda Music?

The Kokiri Forest music also plays in more recognizable form in the Forest Haven. It's intercut with a few patterns from Saria's Song.

I also seem to recall a small room at the end of the shadow temple that has two crossed beams coming out from the floor with chains hanging off of it, with blood pooled on the floor. Does anyone know if that got changed?

Wind Waker has a few similarly-located places. (First and second dungeon islands anyone?)

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube Discs
« on: March 13, 2003, 08:28:17 PM »
Are Gamecube disks actually small DVDs? I thought they were a separate proprietary format that had some physical differences that made it impossible to read by standard drives (explaining why the Panasonic Q has to reboot into Game mode if it's going to read the different kind of disc)
