General Gaming / Some T.V. purchasing questions
« on: June 02, 2003, 05:23:35 PM »
I'm looking into buying a T.V. for my room, and this one looks like the one I am gonna buy:

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=L&langid=EN&dept=11&WLBS=fs%2Dweb2&sku_id=0665000FS10025369&catid=&newdeptid=11

Do you think it is a good buy? (Prices are all canadian) Should I get component or s-video? Any other advice you have for buying a T.V. would be helpful.

Nintendo Gaming / What's your Ikaruga top score?
« on: May 04, 2003, 12:42:50 PM »
Mine is around 7,500,000 on easy mode. I think about 5 mill on normal mode. I've logged in 13 hours. What about you guys?

Nintendo Gaming / What SNES titles should be ported to GBA?
« on: April 24, 2003, 07:13:34 AM »
I'd say Chrono Trigger or Secret of Mana. Secret of Mana would be a good game to show off the linking ability of the GBA.

Is the ending different in Japanese? All we got was some crappy birds flying around on an endless loop.

Nintendo Gaming / Has anyone seen the new EGM?
« on: April 20, 2003, 12:48:26 PM »
I don't think the new EGM is even out yet. I subscribe, and I don't get mine until the beginning of a new month. Unless you have seen it, I personally think that score is fake.

General Gaming / I miss Rare.
« on: April 19, 2003, 04:58:20 AM »
Does anyone else here think that Kameo will be the only rare Xbox game? I would not be one bit surprised if Perfect Dark 0 slipped into somewhere on Xbox 2.

Gharakh: I would get Ikaruga. I picked it up yesterday, and it rules. But I haven't played burnout 2, so it's your call.

TalkBack / Lieberman Talks Videogame Violence... Again
« on: April 11, 2003, 05:07:08 PM »
Why does everyone think he is talking out of his ass? In my opinion T.V. and videogames can be very desensitizing, and I think that the ESRB ratings need to be inforced very strongly. No one underage should be able to but M rated games, not even me. I don't even think I would care much. To me M rated games have mostly been uninteresting. The only M rated games I have ever owned are Resident Evil Remake, Perfect Dark and Eternal Darkness. Compare that to the 20-30 E and T rated games I own. And it's not like I have strict parents or anything. I think Lieberman is completely right and I hope the ESRB ratings get enforced by law.

Nintendo Gaming / Wind Waker: The Orca Challenge
« on: April 11, 2003, 04:39:25 PM »
On my fifth try I got to 1000 without getting hit once. My advice until 800: Do a 4 hit combo, parry, jump slash, sheild. Repeat. Once you get to 800 he gets really nasty so I would hit him about 3 times then back away with your sheild.

Nintendo Gaming / When did you realize... (Major spoilers)
« on: April 11, 2003, 04:31:51 PM »
...that Tetra was Zelda? I'm guessing some people who think too much realized it right off the bat. I at first though of it when Tetra winked at me in the Bomb shop, and then I felt sure when I saw the things on the walls in Tetra's room.

Nintendo Gaming / What is the trick to winning sea battles?
« on: April 11, 2003, 04:24:25 PM »
Back to the subject....

For beating boats, and easy (but not quite as fun) way to win is to get almost within touching range and blast away up close. But if you are too close you can end up damaging yourself.

General Gaming / What is the best game not made by Nintendo?
« on: April 09, 2003, 03:07:24 PM »
What non-Nintendo game is the best? Or if a non-Nintendo game is your favourite, what is it?

For me, Chrono Trigger is right up there with the Zelda games on my list. I played it on a ROM and ever since I have been hunting for a SNES copy. It had some of the best music ever and a great battle system. It (And Mario RPG) are the games that made me like RPGs. What about you guys?

Nintendo Gaming / Why not a wait a while for the second zelda?
« on: March 23, 2003, 11:57:31 AM »
I would love the game and buy it no matter what system it's for, but a Zelda game at launch could really kick-start and move systems. Having a killer app at launch makes a huge deal. Just look at Halo and Mario 64.

Nintendo Gaming / Why not a wait a while for the second zelda?
« on: March 23, 2003, 03:29:07 AM »
I've been hearing  that there will be another GC Zelda, and I don't really want one. I think that with the new consoles maybe 2-3 years away, they could wait and put out the second zelda as a launch title for the GC2. What do you guys think?
