Nintendo Gaming / What features should gamecube2 have?
« on: April 09, 2003, 01:29:55 PM »
Well, Rich,  probably the things you are asking for will actually be possible in the PS3 or the XBox2, but I honestly can´t imagine Nintendo shifting from its "games only" focus. You can forget about MP3, DVD and CD. Who will need them anyway? By 2005, everybody will have DVD players or their old PS2´s. Instead, it will feature different stuff, we probably do not imagine yet.
Now, this is what I think Nintendo´s next console is going to have:
-Built in ethernet port for LAN and online games
-Direct connection to the GBA2: instead of needing the Game boy player, you will be able to just plug the GBA with a cable and play GBA games on your TV
-Hard drive? Forget about that. Remember the SD card Adaptor? Much cheaper in 2005, SD cards will be the standard memory cards for nintendo. They come in a variety of sizes and have all the advantages of the hard drive.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo's LAN stratagy - Why?
« on: April 09, 2003, 09:39:47 AM »
I think Nintendo is slowly transforming its home console into a semiportable system. By using the new TFT gamecube screen and connecting LAN games, the gamecube is beginning to resemble a glorified multiplayer GBA. Maybe Nintendo´s next system is actually a GBA-GC hybrid. The little gamecube discs point towards future portable game media. Isn´t  portable gaming Nintendo´s domain?

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Nexus: Next-gen name?
« on: April 07, 2003, 03:29:43 PM »
I am pretty sure Nintendos next system will include the word "game", like Nintendo´s top product, the Game Boy, even if the gamecube is less than succesful. Playstation 3 is a no brainer, and Xbox 2 is a pretty sure call, since all the money MS is eagerly spending in it is to create a strong brand identity for future products.
Now, the best "Game" name I can come up with is GameGear, but it was used before... GameStation? Gamebox? I think maybe GameCore would be a possibility. Does it sound like a magazine name?

If the word Game stays, what would you add to it?

General Chat / Video game Action Figures ?
« on: March 31, 2003, 08:04:33 AM »
Does anyone know where can I buy a Mega Man action figure online? It´s for my son, you know... So far I found the rockman EXE model but not the original, blue, kiddie one.

Sorry if the name of the thread is mileading in any way. But maybe somebody here likes to talk about figures. They seem to be all the rage, and like videogames, they are not just for kids anymore. The cool thing is that all the toys of my childhood are resurrecting for my kid to enjoy: Transformers, Masters of the Universe, Star Wars, Gi Joe...

Nintendo Gaming / Modern GameCube games Need Difficulty Settings
« on: February 26, 2003, 06:13:25 AM »
There was a great idea in Spiderman in the N64, the ´kid mode´. It not only made the game easier, the controls (quite complicated in this game) also became simpler, so young gamers could have fun with the game while older players got a very good version and not the usual watered-down superhero license. I dont have the recent Spiderman game for the gamecube, so I´m not sure if that option has been mantained.

Nintendo Gaming / I am a 31 year old new GC owner
« on: February 24, 2003, 08:37:28 AM »
Hey Guys. I´m 27 and father of 2 kids. The boy is 4 years old and already quite a Nintendo fan. I´m looking forward to buying the gameboy player for him as I assume GBA games will be more accesible to him, (such as sidescrollers). So I guess we are going to have consoles in our living room for a long time...
