TalkBack / RE:Pokémon Channel Review
« on: December 23, 2003, 06:46:23 PM »
From one hardcore Pokemaniac to another, I must say, your review was really accurate.

I just got the game today, and wow, it is pretty great. It's no Pokemon Colosseum, but hey, sometimes we just need to sit back and relax, instead of sweating and panicing over a lost battle against your best friend (AKA your rival)!

It's Pokemon, my favourite Nintendo franchise, so there's only one side, and it's the Pokemon-lovin' side. Das right, dawg. 8) *Nods head to Knuckles' music in Sonic Adventure 2*

Okay, I'll try to give you guys the low-down (sp) on these new games.

Basically...

It has all 151 Pokemon, including the evolutions and pre-evolutions for the Kanto Pokemon that were in Johto -- Cleffa, Igglybuff, Politoed, Umbreon, Espeon, Bellossom, Blissey, Scizor, Steelix, Kingdra, Magby, Smoochum, Slowking, Porygon2, Elekid, Tyrogue, and Pichu. That's a total of 167 Pokemon in Leaf Green/Fire Red/Water Blue. It'll also be updated to correspond with the Ruby/Sapphire and Colosseum games, and it'll feature all of the movies, items, Pokemon, and features that Ruby/Sapphire has, such as Pokemon Contests, and breeding.

Oh yeah, Nintendo and GAME FREAK have also registered "Water Blue".

The rest of the Johto Pokemon will be available in Colosseum. Y'know, Snubbull, Sneasel, Lugia, Celebi, Ledyba, etc. That's a total of 100.

Leaf Green/Fire Red/Water Blue/Ruby/Sapphire/Colosseum = "cross-compatible".

Well, it looks like we know how to get all of the missing Pokemon (all 386), items, berries, features, and the National Pokedex.

Hmmm, Ninja Turtles came out today, I definitely think you should check it out with your son!

Since he's six, I think F-Zero GX may be a bit too hard for him.

Super Smash Bros. Melee is always a blast, and if loves Nintendo characters as much as we do, then he'll have even more fun with you!

Mario Kart Double Dash!! is coming out soon, and I REALLY suggest you guys get it!

Hmmm, what else? Oh, Mario Party 5 will be tons of fun for you guys.

It's 6:36 AM, so I'm sorry I cannot recommend anymore.

If we take in to account the GSC Pokemon available in RS, and the evolutions of Pokemon from GRBY that were available in future games, let's see:

386 Pokemon in total.

202 available in R/S.

386 - 202 = 184

There are 151 available in Leaf Green/Fire Red.

184 - 151 = 33

Then you have evolutions/pre-evolutions for Pokemon from GRBY that appeared in future games:

Blissey
Steelix
Umbreon
Espeon
Bellossom
Pichu
Cleffa
Igglybuff
Magby
Elekid
Smoochum
Scizor
Slowking
Kingdra
Porygon2
Crobat

That's a total of 16.

151 + 16 = 167

So if we assume 167 are available in the remakes, then:

184 - 167 = 17

We know that Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr are available in Colosseum, so we have another 3, plus their pre-evolutions, so, that means 9.

167 + 9 = 176

186 - 176 = 10

Hmmm, where are the remaining 10? It'd be pretty low for them to make a GSC remake with only 10 remaining Pokemon, so it's safe to say that Colosseum and Leaf Green/Fire Red will let us get all 386 Pokemon.

Unless...

We take these 3 hidden Pokemon into consideration:

I think those'll be in Colosseum, e-Cards, promotions, or Leaf Green/Fire Red.

Nintendo Gaming / Pokemon Box

If you look carefully in the top left corner of one of the screenshots, you can see that a Pokemon Crystal game pak is being used! Sure, the Japanese letters for "Bashaamo", "Massaguma" and "Taneboo" are there, but it could just be a list of the Pokemon that are stored in the Gamecube, and not Pokemon Crystal.

This, my friends, seems to be the way to get the unobtainables.

What about the "!" and "?" Unown that weren't available in GSC? Well, they'll probably be obtained by maybe sending over the A-Z Unown to R/S, or something like that.

Anyways, Pokemon fans, I bet Pokemon Box won't just be about storing the R/S Pokemon, only!

Nintendo Gaming / cleaning the sp's screen, need help
« on: April 16, 2003, 08:08:32 PM »
I use a one of those Kleenex tissues, because sometimes smudges can be formed in the corners of the screen, and it's hard to get in the corners with a thick t-shirt or cotton cloth that's used for cleaning glasses.

Nintendo Gaming / Pokemon R/S/?

Actually, all the Pokemon are in Ruby and Sapphire. Their data, sprites, info, everything. They can be caught with Gameshark or Action Replay, but if you don't want to cheat, you'll wait for the official way to get them from Gamefreak and Nintendo. If you want to check out their hidden sprites for now, go here: http://user.yagb.de/meowth346/index.php?menu=sozai

All 386 sprites are there. There's a Pokedex there, too, having the information for all 386 (even the "unobtainable" Pokemon have new moves). They most likely will be unlocked by the new Gamecube game coming out in the summer in Japan, or by those e-reader features added in the English version.

Me, though, I am buying a Gameshark on Monday. A hardcore fan like me has to have access to all 386 Pokemon. Don't worry, though, I don't use cheating deviced to raise my stats or add illegal moves or anything, I just use them to catch all the unobtainable Pokemon at level 5. After doing that, I may as well sell the cheat device, since I'll have what I needed...ALL THE POKEMON TO TRAIN AND BREED! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Anyways, don't worry, people, they're all in there, ya just gotta wait. Or, if you don't wanna wait, get a cheat device and unlock 'em all! 386 Pokemon!

That saddens me. I always thought of Nintendo to be a family company, but I guess they have to ruin that for me, too. I'm tired of the "sex sells" crap...

Edit: Oh well, it's NOE, so I just dislike NOE, but I still love NOJ, NOC, and NOA.

Nintendo Gaming / Zelda Movie??
« on: February 28, 2003, 08:20:34 PM »
Well, I am a big anime and Nintendo fan, so maybe I can share some of my ideas.

If they were to make an anime, that would be great! It could be like a 52 episode series, with NO filler episodes. It could show all the journeys of all the Links, from OoT to ALttP. It would be medium - high quality animation.

Now, I am a GREAT Pokemon fan. I love the anime and the game exactly the same. Now, I need to let everyone know that the Japanese version of Pokemon is ten times better. Not only are the original voices and BGM's left in, but there are no corny jokes. Now, it doesn't have any "mature themes" as many people think it has. It's EXACTLY the same as the English version, content wise. It's more G-rated than...some Disney movies, even. Well, except for that part where Kojiro (James) wore fake breasts, but that was an earlier episode, and they only did that once.

Pokemon Advanced Generation, the anime based on Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, is even better than back when Satoshi (Ash) was in Kanto. Not only that, but Team Rocket hardly comes anymore, and when they do, they don't bother with Satoshi, they just have their own problems. I have all of the Advanced Generation episodes, and I am getting more this week, and they are really great.

ANYWAYS!...if Nintendo did a Zelda anime, I hope do as great a job as they did with Pokemon (in Japan, NOT here). They could retain their game voices, and...well....it would be just SO cool!

If they DID do a live-action movie, they would just be screwing up Zelda so bad. Anime is the way to go.

But, if they dubbed it, it could be better, since Zelda DOES take place in some type of English or Irish place. And in OoT, a lot of the people speak olde English (thou, etc.). But, I think the Japanese version would be better. At least Ganondorf wouldn't cough up green blood, eh?

Nintendo Gaming / My mom is going to steal my Gamecube.
« on: February 27, 2003, 09:38:29 PM »
My mom is usually late for work because of Animal Crossing and Pokemon Crystal! She stays extra late with Animal Crossing, and she misses her stops on the bus because of Pokemon Crystal!

Oi...let's see what happens when I get Pokemon Ruby, my bro gets Sapphire, and my mom gets Ruby! @_@

My mom played SSB:M a few times! I put it on very easy, and she chose Pikachu, and kept whacking Mario with Pikachu's tail, lol. She then immidietly made me grab the controller from her, because she said she may get addicted, and she already has too much stuff to do, since all her work piles up when she plays Animal Crossing!

Welcome to the club, dude!

Nintendo Gaming / Pokemon's Replay Value
« on: February 18, 2003, 06:34:36 PM »
No, no, no!

In the recent edition of Nintendo Dream in Japan, Gamefreak (Pokemon's developers) were interviewed, and they said that in Summer 2003 in Japan, a new Pokemon game for GAMECUBE will be released, and it'll let you get your old Pokemon.

Since all the data for the "unobtainable" Pokemon is in Ruby and Sapphire (ALL 386 Pokemon), it makes sense.

When I say data, I mean stats, abilities, characterisitcs, sprites, EVERYTHING that an obtainable Pokemon has. So no worries, people! There were problems with compatibility between old version of Pokemon and Pokemon RS, so backwards trading wasn't possible, but no doubt the old Pokemon will be obtained by sticking your old versions of Pokemon into the Gameboy Player in the Gamecube while the new Pokemon game is in, and then withdrawing them into the GC's Pokemon PC, and then sending them to Ruby or Sapphire! ^_^
