TalkBack / Golden Sun: The Lost Age Transfer Details
« on: February 21, 2003, 12:56:18 PM »
A sequel to the fabulous Golden Sun is on its way, and you can move your characters to the new game.  Hope you kept your cart!

It seems like it's taking forever, and some of you have probably forgotten that a sequel to Golden Sun is coming.  Here's the beef on what you'll need to do to transfer your characters.  That's right ... you'd better have kept your cartridge, because your stats and gold can go with you into the next game.  That is, if you’ve already completed Golden Sun.

To get to the transfer options, hold down L and R at the black screen with the "Golden Sun" logo and menu at the bottom.  Hit Left on the D-Pad and the B button at the same time, and a new menu option for "Send" should appear with an envelope icon.

Send Menu ... REVEALED!

In the Send menu, you can pick one of the three save slots to send.  You can only use a FINISHED game file, so if you didn't complete the game, you'd better get a move on.  Once you pick your save file, you have the option to generate a password, or to send the data to another Game Boy with a link cable.  The password option is much less straight-forward than the cable option, so that's the large part of what we're going to show you.

You have the option of a Gold, Silver, or Bronze transfer, which correspond to how much data you will send, and consequently, how long your password will be.  Is it really that big a deal?  You bet it is!  A Gold transfer has your Level, Djinn, stats, items, and coins ... at the cost of a password that is 260 characters long!

Gold Transfer

A silver transfer is only Level, Djinn, and your stats and is only about 61 characters, and a Bronze transfer of just your Level and Djinn is a meager 16 characters.  (Please note that these numbers may be unique to the finished game file we tested with, and may not be the same for all games.)

Golden Sun to will be released in North America on April 14.  While you're waiting, check out the profile for Golden Sun: The Lost Age for more screens from the Transfer Menu!

TalkBack / Important Game Boy Player Info!
« on: February 20, 2003, 09:03:54 AM »
Louie the Cat's at it again.  This time uncovering some big news about the Game Boy Player.  Don't you wanna know...

We’ve just learned that The Game Boy Player will not in fact have a boot disc.  What does this mean?  The Game Boy Player could be just as region free as the Game Boy Advance.

Whether the Game Boy Player’s menu will display your region is unknown, but I’m predicting that the hardware will recognize which region the GameCube is booting in, and display the appropriate menus.  We don’t know for sure yet, but this could be really good news for anyone who is interested in importing.

We’ll have more when I know it.  Mee-yowt.

TalkBack / He Almost Made It...
« on: December 16, 2002, 08:31:48 AM »
Billy may be out for a couple days due to an unfortunate accident.  Come see the gory details.

Billy never made it back from Nintendo’s Zelda Gamers’ Summit.  Well at least, not yet.  I was terribly worried, so I e-mailed Rick Powers, whom Billy was staying with for the rest of the weekend, and according to him, there was a little problem at NOA.  Ok, I wasn’t really that worried, but the bastard has our copy of Zelda, and I want to play.

Rick told me Billy got a little too hopped up on these Jones Star Fox Adventures Green Soda things that Nintendo served during lunch, and got somewhat crazy.  Supposedly he decided to make a stealth-like diversion during the tour of NOA, and ran into a slight problem.

So I kitty-hacked into the NOA security cameras, and now I know exactly what happened.

The Mario  Turret got TEH BILLEH

Oh poor poor Billy.  I still haven’t heard from him yet, but according to the hospital, Billy is in serious, but stable condition.

Since the poor bastard has been buying games all month, we’re broke.  Want to help pay those hospital bills?  Head over to the Planet GameCube Store and pick up a T-shirt or DVD while Billy is slurping mushroom swiss burgers through a tube.  Remember, he did this for you.

TalkBack / Ocarina of Time/Ura Zelda to Hit US!
« on: December 04, 2002, 07:25:10 AM »
We told you it would happen, now Louie the Cat spills the beans on when.  Get the first details right here.

Last week in Japan, Nintendo released bonus discs to people who pre-ordered The Legend of Zelda: Kaze no Takuto that contained updated versions of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Ura Zelda.  We mentioned that the discs would in fact be released here in North America, but we didn’t know when.

Today Planet GameCube learned that this pre-order promotion will begin in North America on February 16th.  Just like in Japan, the bonus disc will contain both Ocarina of Time and Ura Zelda, as well as some different game trailers.  How many, and which trailers is still unknown, but we’re assuming they’ll be changed for the US due to the fact that some of the games previewed on the Japan disc have already been released.

More when it breaks!
