A fifth Donkey Kong Country game would be welcome if, and only if, the Kremlings return as the villains.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Are indie games the "New" 3rd party?
« on: February 13, 2014, 01:00:19 PM »
The Wii U's saving grace could be the indie developers. If Nintendo continued to create an environment where indie developers can flourish then they could very well make the Wii U the one place in the industry for indie developers outside of Steam on PC. The third party support on the Wii U is dying, but they could make the Wii U attractive by have a large catalog of digital content for their system. This is why the Virtual Console needs to be in full force on the system.

Ubisoft delayed a Wii U exclusive for Sony and Microsoft fans that they did not buy. The Wii U versions of Splinter Cell and Rayman sold better on Wii U. There is business on the Wii U, but Ubisoft has to work for it.

Ubisoft is not a smart developer. How dare they advertise a Wii U version and then go back on it! All of their past failures sold best on Wii U, so it stands to reason that supporting the Wii U is worth something. I bet this game does not sell well on other consoles. If Watchdogs is cancelled for the Wii U then Ubisoft can join EA on my gaming **** list. <$1alt="" title="" onresizestart="return false;" id="smiley__$2" style="padding: 0 3px 0 3px;" />

A Sonic game developed by EAD Tokyo with the quality of Super Mario 3D world and Land.

This is a very tough question to answer. There are numerous games that deserve sequels for the 3DS. However, since I can only choose one game it will have to be Retro City Rampage. The game is coming out this month but it diserves a sequel, and one most of all on the 3DS. The first game felt too shor and it practically begged for a sequel.

I agree with Adrock's choice.

The biggest thing Nintendo needs to do with the eShop at this point is to offer a gifting feature combined with discounts. What this means is that over time all of the people that buy mainstream game shave down so and a vast majority sit on the eShop and a bought in a slow trickle. For example, NSMB U is one of the best selling games on the Wii U, if Nintendo offered it for half of the price in a temporary sale then a lot more people buy it.  A lot more people would buy it to gift it to friends who would not buy it at full price. This adds up to extra revenue for Nintendo.

Nintendo should have bought Volition and Vigil Games when they had the chance. It would be interesting to see how the market would react if Saint's Row and Darksiders were exclusive to Nintendo consoles. Buying back Rare's IPs would be a smart move as well. As for buying bigger companies, Nintendo should create better alliances between Square and Capcom. Then buyout weaker developers like Platinum and Vanillaware.

Nintendo should make the ambassador GBA games available to everyone via the eShop as a token of goodwill.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo DS Games Coming to Wii U Virtual Console
« on: January 30, 2014, 10:21:11 PM »
While I am a little pissed that DS games are not announced for the 3Ds eShop. While having them for the Wii U is nice, it would be nicer to have them on the 3DS. Nintendo could make the update available for tomorrow, but I think that it is a cleverly disguised excuse to continue work on the VC and a unified account system to be revealed later in the year.

Nintendo should release a 3DS/DS player for the Wii U just for the people who do not want it digitally.

Does this mean you get the DLC for free?

Nintendo should have paid some company like Valve to make customized emulators and a unified system account for the Wii U and 3DS.  Make them highly customizable for future Nintendo consoles. Nintendo should have the entire library up on the service by six months.

By 2015 we could have a unified system account between the 3DS and the Wii U (and its successor ;) ) that would allow cross-buying. Buy the potential Wii U version and get the 3DS version for free, or a greatly reduced amount of money. The Wii U version will be the definitive version anyway.

The key to winning this console generation will be to capture as much indie developer support as possible. If Nintendo could practically give the Wii U and 3DS to the indie developers then victory would be assured for them over their rivals. Nintend needs to take all the necessary steps to insure that indie developers feel welcomed on Nintendo platforms.

Here is the truth about Ubisoft and the Wii U. Zombie U was one of the most financially successful Wii U titles, and for a launch title, most developers/publishers, can only dream about selling the amount of units that it sold on a Nintendo console. The issue is they developed it twice. It was originally Killer Freaks and they change it around. This cost them big money and that is their fault.

As for Rayman Legends, Ubisoft had a near monopoly on Wii U in early 2013. Had they released it on the Wii U exclusively they would have had no threat from either first or third party Wii U games for atleast six months. This would have entailed a large cash infusion into Ubisoft's bank account. Instead, they chose to wait six months and turn the game out to die against the behemoth that is Grand Theft Auto V.  The fact that it sold best on Wii U tells me they should have made it remain a Wii U exclusive earlier in the year.

Splinter Cell Black List, while a good game, showed that the series is basically Ubisoft's version of Resident Evil. Many fans were divided as to the quality of the titles and the direction of the series. In the end it sold abysmally, however, it sold best on Wii U. Yet Ubisoft gimps the Wii U version when it should have been an exclusive from the begining.

Watch Dogs is one of the milestone games that Ubisoft will use to evaluate their support for the Wii U. The game is a new IP, so it stands to reason that it might sell better for the Wii U like Zombie U. Hopefully it sells well enough for further support and a Zombie U sequel.

The way that I view EA is the same way someone might view a mentally unstable dog that is prone to biting people. I do not trust EA as a developer or publisher. As butt hurt as they are about Nintendo not letting them have free reign on Wii U, I imagine they could easily turn on Sony and Microsoft if the need ever arised. Again, they are not to be trusted, or supported. Although the only redeemable thing about the company is Dice, Visceral, and Criterion and their quality games that benefit of the company.

I would be willing to forgive Nintendo if they had Gamecube and GBA games on the VC and a unified system account between the 3DS and Wii U.

And you people think that I am a bad forum poster? Of course games that offer more depth are going to cost more than a single dollar because games that cost a dollar on smart phones are so easy that a monkey could play them. As for Nintendo entering the smart phone business, they are too financially autonomous to do that. They will continue in the handheld space forever as long as their future handhelds sell as good as the DS and 3DS.

Making the GamePad optional would require Nintendo to rewrite pretty much all code in the system software including the eshop and Miiverse. Additionally, several games wouldn't even work without it and making a once included controller optional complicates things. Wii U IS the GamePad. It's too ingrained in the console's DNA to be sold separately as an optional purchase. Nintendo could make the GamePad optional in a successor. However, I think it's more likely that Nintendo improves upon it and continues making it slimmer and lighter. And no, kytim, they wouldn't make it Vita-sized.

Adrock, the idea of the Vita sized Gamepad was for the Wii U successor. Later in the decade wi-fi will have improved enough to allow Nintendo to make a smaller  Gamepad about the size of a Vita that can play games anywhere via cloud streaming.

The investors cracked the whip and Iwata got scared and decided to understand the real issues facing Nintendo. They probably had a janitor's uniform in the making for him.

I would settle for a Nintendo version Playstation Now that plays Virtual Console games. Although I would imagine that Nintendo would screw that up as well.

If Nintendo had not named the console "Wii U" then it would probably be setting at ten million units.

Should I post my facepalm GIF again? I'm not quite sure if it's worth something as stupid as this sentence.

Is your sarcasm detector broken? I hate the Wii U name.
