Nintendo Gaming / RE: Possible Rumors Regarding the Next Zelda
« on: July 03, 2004, 12:48:52 AM »
More than likely the 100 year thing was just a translation error. The game makes it clear that a lot more time passed than that.

I would agree with you that Miyamoto doesn't really care about the story line. Aonuma, on the other hand, has promised a couple of times in recent interviews that he is going to try and straighten things out.

You can get a 6 foot Monster Cable at target.com for only $19.99 US. Linky

By the way, does anyone know what the difference is between the 100, 200, and 300?

Okay, who the hell is this king admin guy then, and why does he get to have a fancy signature? Is he actually an admin or something? I don't remember ever seeing him post before, so I just assumed he was a crazy noob on his way to a banning.

I'm so confused.

I don't really know, but if you haven't set Firefox and Thunderbird as your defualts, you might want to try that.

Wow, really? I haven't used OE in over a year.

Thunderbird is also a lot safer than OE, since OE opens up attachements automatically. Also it has a nice junk mail filter.

So no harm there.

That's a very good suggestion.

Yes, the game is worth it for single player. That's how I've been playing the game so far. I can tell though, that the game would be even more enjoyable with mulitplayer mode.

Yeah, I've been enjoying this game more than I did WW. Good old fashioned 2D Zelda on a console. Just think, the last time we had a 2D Zelda on a console was on the SNES.

Well, the one Link wouldn't actually be time traveling. At the end of OoT Zelda sends Link back in time as a child. What the magazine is saying is that he grows up naturally and in 7 years bumps into his time traveling self.

While I do believe that WW takes place hundreds of years after OoT, I don't recall it specifically saying 1000 years.

Anyway, what the magazine is saying is that the new game is supposed to star a grown up young Link from OoT. The idea is that he runs into his time traveling self in the future, kind of like how Marty McFly saw himself in the 50s in Back to the Future 2. Not that it really matters, because this is probably just a glorified wish list and not actual rumor.

Over at the www.zeldaheadquarters.com forums someone posted an interesting list from NGC magazine of what is apparently rumors for the next game. You can read them in this thread.

I'm not entirely sure if this is just a wish list on the magazines part or if this stuff is legit rumors, but if it is legit then there's some pretty exciting stuff in there.

General Chat / RE: Media Bias: Sony PSP vs. Nintendo DS?
« on: June 25, 2004, 07:10:31 AM »
Hey, does everyone remember that free subscription sign up thing for EGM I told you guys about sometime last year? Yeah, I never did get my mine.

In this day and age, with the Internet and all, I find magazines to be completely useless. Not only do they tend to be more biased than most gaming sites, but there info is of course always out of date by the time it gets in your mail box.  There's also the fact that subscription prices tend to be ridiculous and any bonus stuff you get is crap.

Hmm, I can't find it on the extension page anymore either. When I downloaded it, it was in the top downloaded list.

Never fear though, cause you can download it direct from the Adblock homepage here!

Adblocker is an extension that allows you to block images. Very nice for getting rid of ads and crap like that.

It is available for 0.9, Syl. It was the first extension I downloaded after installing 0.9.

Okay, still don't see why you chose Carrot Top though. You should have went with Jar Jar Binks rather than some random celeb since it would have made sense and been funny. Maybe.

Anyway, rumor has it that the TV series is supposed to take place between Episode III- IV  and may star either Darth Vader or Boba Fett. That's rumor though, and I'm personally taking it with a grain salt.

Honestly, I'm not really excited about the idea of a LIVE ACTION series since movie series don't tend to translate to live action TV that well. I'd much rather they stick with animation like with the Clone Wars.

WTF?

pro tip: people on the internet are serious not allways

Oh, really. I had no idea.

Serious or not, the comment didn't make any sense. I'm not even sure what he was referring to, and I definitely don't know what Carrot Top has to do with anything.

Lucas has sold his soul to the merchandisers and TV networks.  Thank God Peter Jackson is the new hero of the geek!

Secondly, you're about 27 years late for that comment, since Star Wars started the whole damn movie merchandising tie in thing. This isn't the first instance of Star Wars on the TV either. There was the infamously bad Star Wars Holiday Special and there was the Droid cartoon series that came out after Jedi was released. At least he's not planning on making 15 more movies like Star Trek. Also you're giving PJ way, way too much credit. J.R.R Tolkien created that universe you love so much. PJ just made some movies about them. Oh, and not to mention there's plenty of damn LotRs toys and collectibles out there, if you haven't noticed.

Frankly, I don't see how any of you can actually bitch about this stuff.

For all you Star Wars haters out there, take a look.

Also, comingsoon.net has reported that Gary Oldman is in negotiations to voice one of the characters in Episode III. While it isn't known which character he will voice it's a good bet it will be Grievous.

Oh, and from the sounds of things the title of Episode III will be Revenge of the Sith.

We caught George Lucas wandering around the grounds with his daughter, Katie. The director said the title of Star Wars: Episode III won't officially be announced until November, when the first trailer hits theaters.

But he conceded that fans on Web sites already have guessed correctly. So we threw a couple of rumored titles at him: Rise of the Empire? "No, that's not it," Lucas said. How about Revenge of the Sith?

With that, Lucas smiled knowingly, backed away and teased, "That's a possibility. Lots of titles out there ..."

Great info from a source in the retail industry who attended an official briefing on Episode III merchandising.

First, we received a brief presentation of the 4,5,6 DVD set. Still nothing any of us hasn't heard before. They played the trailer currently running on Hyperspace.

As far as the Episode III movie overview, this one was not nearly as spoiler laden as the one for Ep II was but I did see some rough footage from a couple key scenes, along with some storyboards and sketches.

To put it in perspective, after the Episode II presentation, the only thing about Episode II that remained a complete surprise to me was the whole Death Star thing. That was it. Anyway...

Vader / Lava themed product packaging (saw a sample, SWEET!!!!)

HEAVY Vader presence in all marketing (saw some samples - again, SWEET!!!)

(NOTE: On more than one instance, some of the artwork incorporated the lone word "REVENGE" (Revenge of the Sith perhaps?)

(Secondly, during the commentary, the phrase "closing the circle" or the "circle being complete" was also used more than once in a very "wink-wink" kind of way. (Tagline?)

First Ep III teaser trailer debuts in Nov. 04

First full trailer, April 05

Ep III Product release first week of April 05 (start saving!)

A mention of an increased focus on high-end collectables (master replicas? gentle giant?)

Eps 1, 2, 4, 5 & 6 to air on FOX throughout the month of April 05

Clone Wars Series 1 & 2 DVD coming in Q1 of 05

Clone Wars Series 3 to air April 05 (Ten 12 minute chapters)

Licenses renewed with BK & Pepsi / Frito-Lay

License with as-yet undisclosed wireless service.

LIVE ACTION TV series to premire in 2006!!!

Wow, that's a lot of tidbits to chew on!

Notice that there's going to be a live action series in 2006, too.
