Nintendo Gaming / RE: Nintendo sued for patent infringement on the Wiimote

Patent trolls, nothing more.  Unfortunately, after Sony got burned by patent trolls, they have to be taken seriously.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Super Smash Bros. Brawl

As long as they have Zelda and her ridiculously overpowered attacks, I'll be set.  Nothing's more satisfying than going "OMG OMG U GOT BEATED BY A GUUUUUURL" to my buds after the sparkley magic sends 'em flying.

As for the "spectacular special moves", it was stated before that it's an item-based attack, acquired by picking up a flaming Smash Bros icon, from what was gathered from the vid.

It's not her.  It's not Zelda either.  The real Twilight Princess has been with you ever since you made your jailbreak.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wire-based net connection?

Alas, I am not a network expert like my dad.  How do I learn the MAC address for my Wii?

Nintendo Gaming / Wire-based net connection?
« on: November 24, 2006, 04:37:01 PM »
My dad, being a masterful network engineer, has umpteen layers of security on the wireless network.  The wire network, however, may be a fair bit easier to access for the Wii... with one problem: how does one acquire an ethernet adapter for the Wii?  Also, is it possible to set up the connection to go through a proxy server?  That's another security feature, one that's caused me no end of grief in the past.

Nintendo Gaming / The Wiimote Speaker, and Twilight Princess
« on: November 19, 2006, 05:17:13 PM »
I am in agreement with whichever PGC staffer said that the Wiimote speaker is ill-suited for the things they make it do.  The little thing is overdriven and has crackled on me many times already.

HOWEVER.....  There is a way to turn it off, and not only that, but make the sounds it otherwise plays go through the standard sound system!  Click on the little "Home" button on the Wiimote, and you get an in-game system menu.  Near the bottom are readouts for the four Wiimotes, which contain battery charge levels at the top.  Put the cursor over it (enjoying the gyrosensor's ability to cause the cursor to rotate ) and click it.  Amongst the new settings you see here is a volume control for the Wiimote speaker.  Turn it all the way down... and all the sound is played through the standard speakers.

I work at a Target store, and we've had our 51-unit shipment ever since Wednesday.  I'm in MO too, so we always end up getting the last of the shipments.

Nintendo Gaming / Wii's AV connector including S-Video?
« on: November 12, 2006, 05:35:07 PM »
The topic title says it all: Will the Wii's AV cable include an S-Video connector?  I did a forum search for "S-Video" and nothing turned up pertaining to my question...
