General Chat / Re: Anime

My streetpass greeting is "El psy congroo."  :cool;

I'm picky about comedies, and really enjoy Space Dandy. It did take me a couple episodes to completely win me over but it's worth at least a 3 episode test (I'd suggest getting to at least the zombie episode). The show always has silly things happening, but it isn't some pure zany comedy. It's more like Samurai Champloo-level mix of drama and comedy. Part of the enjoyment of the show is the impressive animation and seeing what the different directors and writers do with the characters each new episode.

If anyone is looking for more sci-fi series, I recommend Masaki Yuasa's Kaiba for something different. Yuasa will be directing and writing episode 16 of Space Dandy. Eunyoung Choi, who works with Yuasa on many of his projects, directed the plant episode of Dandy. Yuasa also recently directed the Food Chain episode of Adventure time. I also have to recommend another show he directed, the Tatami Galaxy! It's available on Funi's youtube page and Hulu.

As for me, I tried giving Samurai 7 a try.

I couldn't get into this show, either. I didn't particularly like the characters in this anime retelling and as you said, the animation was kind of mixed. I'd probably watch something else instead... there are worse series out there but there are also much better series to spend your time on!

Ha ha ha! Yeah, I thought you were just going to pick them up and leave them to catalogue but then I realized that I didn't care if you took them since I wasn't going to use them and they are in my catalogue anyways if I ever want to re-order them so keep them. I'd have stopped you if I wanted them to stay.

haha yeah as soon as I turned off my game, I thought "****, I took the items!" Just smack me with a shovel next time i try to steal everything.

Yes of course, you should give Bunny Day a try first! That's part of the fun of the game, after all. It wasn't as bad as Festivale. Actually, I have an unclaimed prize ticket sitting around if you want it. And yes, you should give Katrina's new shop a visit first too after finally getting it built. I kind of wish Blanca would visit more often because it makes getting villagers' photos much easier.

I've had 4 characters for a while, which has definitely helped with Sahara! It's still been difficult. Even with 4 characters, I might only get 1 Sahara piece per visit. I'm only missing one carpet, the music room floor.

Yeah, some more sloppy furniture! I have some local friends that have been helping out with collecting that stuff (as well as some other items). I do have the floor and stereo. I went and downloaded the cancer table, thanks!

Thanks for the items! I didn't think of it at the time but I grabbed them instead of just cataloging o_o . Perhaps I was supposed to take them but I feel bad for not checking first haha. I guess they are all orderable anyways, but I do still have them all.

I'm going thought the list of shirts and bottoms to see what I have. I'll reply later with what I have.

154
For shame, Justice League! You don't see me quitting after logging over 500 hours in this game!

Actually, I think I have quite a few more of those items. I'm going to have to check my in-game catalogue to make sure.

Yes, I do have the Swell Shirt (must've forgot to get it) and the Arctic-camo tee.

No, I do not have K.K. Birthday. That is awesome that you were able to get those rare furniture items! Are they all orderable/catalog-able.

I believe I have all of the Bunny Day Egg Furniture if you just want to dupe it (need to check about his photo, though). Oh, I also have the Tingle Hood and Celebration Hat from Katrina.

I'll double check my in-game catalogue to make sure, but I believe I am only missing these Sahara items:
Garden Wall
Music-Room Wall
Music-Room Floor
Sci-fi Wall
Sporty Wall
Summit Wall

And I am still missing these Sloppy pieces:
Sloppy bed
Sloppy clock
Sloppy lamp
Sloppy sink
Sloppy tv

For Cardboard stuff, I only have the Cardboard table and Cardboard chair.

Ok, that's it for a quick update. I will go through your list of items and see what I can order!

Movies & TV / Re: New Movies/TV Shows we should keep an eye out for!

I don’t think I’ve seen this posted yet: coming this summer to FX, Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain!

The series will premiere on July 13th. Really looking forward to this series. The books were entertaining. It's about time we had a good and scary vampire movie again. The vampires are treated more like a dangerous, contagious virus, which makes for an interesting twist. And it's del Toro!

Glad my fanboy tendencies helped someone. :)

Haha yes, thank you!

The first 3 eps seem to be building to a promising season (or at least some awesome fight scenes). It’s great being able to marathon a few episodes at a time. I hear you can find up to episode 6 in spanish out there?

I don’t really have a problem with Republic City, but I’m glad that they are actually doing some traveling to other regions this season.

157
Oh no worries. I ended up going out last night but I'll be playing today.

Oh yeah and to answer your question in the other AC thread, I have about 20 gyroids for you. Also, a villager gave me a lawn mower!

Whaaaat Book 3 premiere last night with 3 episodes?! Guess I've got something to do this rainy afternoon! So glad you made a post about this cuz I definitely did not know about it.

159
You may be sick of AC again after that crazy mafia game, but I could catalogue stuff either today or tomorrow. I may not be free again until next friday or saturday.

I'm catching up from last week so I am currently playing through the Bug Off (last saturday's event).

160
Lol well that was fun. Well played, Stratos! The only time I became a bit suspicious of you was after the inactivity purge, particularly when Lucariofan voted for you. I didn't expect to last very long. I felt a bit bad that the villagers had a new player with the powerful role of Phineas...

Well done Apdude, Khush and fellow players with the Animal Crossing theme. I will never look at my villagers the same.

161
Vote Shorty. What are you hiding under all of those bandages, mrmpht?

162
Show me the way to go home, I’m tired and I wanna go to bed. I had a little drink about an hour ago and it’s gone right to my head, yeah!

3 villager casualties... we are lucky that 2 mafia and blanca also went down. Gonna vote for lucariofan, mrmpht!

163
Well that went terribly! I really don't know how to vote today. Should we trust in the dying words of Fatty and vote Caterkiller? I don't know. I'll think it over while I try to catch this diving beetle.

(and another great yet awful death pict).

164

Et tu, Fatty?

Mais Toruresu a dit rien!
Quote
*looks nervous, trying to hide the fact that he has NO reason whatsoever to vote for Dan, other than Dan being lurking until voted against*

Villagers have a slight advantage so let's not screw this up, people!

For now, I'll vote for Fatty the Hut.

165
Sorry, at work. What gives, mrrrft?! Your suspicion is suspicious!

Well I guess i gotta vote pixpix...

166
Aw crap, sorry Luigi Dude! Why'd you go and vote for Mop it Up!? Looking at how he voted, Toruresu may actually be a villager, but I don't like his choice of vote! Who wouldn't speak up when they are voted against? You don't want me to die! I gotta look at the past day's votes

167
Hey, Buddy! I'm on your side! Vote for Luigi Dude! He voted for Mop it up the other day after Spak said she was a villager.

168
Wow, crap... that sucks! I'm gonna have to read the past day threads more thoroughly now... I hope I can get a vote in before end of day, mrmpht. So who voted Mop it Up and who didn't follow Spak's advice? agh this game is stressful! I'm gonna go make a sandwich.

169
WHAT! The tourney is over? My day is just getting started, mrmpht! Oh, well, guess it's back to bed.

I might as well throw in a guess to the first place fish, though. How would a tadpole have ranked in the fishing tournament, Buddy? Little bite-sized delicacies, if you're into that kind of food, mrmpht!

170
I'll take Punchy, the lazy cat http://acwiki3ds.wikispaces.com/Punchy

I can edit down a avatar later

171
OK, I’ll give it a try! It would be a shame to not hit 30 players. It’ll be a busy week for me, too, but I’ll try to participate. It will be interesting to at least see how exactly this game works… I’ve played Werewolf, The Resistance, and Avalon games so this sort of sounds similar, I think….?

172

I've decided to sell some of my gyroids because of lack of space so I'm sure I have some from your list that you can just have. Also have several more Sahara wallpapers and floorings, cardboard items, and sloppy items for cataloging... that stuff can wait for another time though!

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Amazing Deals!
« on: June 15, 2014, 01:43:56 PM »
Target Canada deals

Wow!! I was at Target at the start of the week but I had no idea about those 3DS or Wii U prices. They had several signs in the Nintendo console display cases saying that some deal was not being offered at this location, so it must've been about that.

I did see some of those decent prices on games, though. I picked up SM3DW for $40, Lego City Undercover for $25 and Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy for $21. Wii Party U was also $25 at my location, but Wind Waker was regular price.

I went to Target to look for those AR eShop cards, but didn't see any.

And for content, the Yoshi 3DS XL is $159 on Amazon.ca. Not quite as awesome as a $100 3DS but alright!

I've said this before but... Takamaru for Smash?!?

That would be very cool if Nintendo were to revitalize the Mysterious Murasame Castle franchise... Looking forward to trying out the NES game once/if it eventually is released in North America.

General Chat / Re: A behind the scenes documentary?
« on: May 20, 2014, 01:19:58 AM »
Aw, well no need to completely throw out the idea. Sounds like you want to try a bunch of different techniques and story ideas and you want a way of tying them together? You see that all the time in skit shows (Portlandia, Human Giant, Time & Eric, etc etc) and video channels so I'd say it's definitely doable. I would strongly suggest starting small, though.

Initially, it might be good to simply focus on making each individual short and uploading it on its own. See how things go and perhaps you can start making longer episodes and combining the clips down the line. Chances are people will be viewing this online - and they are more likely to watch something short. Think about the audience, their time and how they will be watching.

I don’t think there is really any need to tie them together… Short films are good! Feature length films are expensive and hard to make, even if it is just made up of several shorts. You could always try to go back to the original idea of presenting these shorts as excerpts of feature length films after you have produced them.

You also talk about a short sci-fi you want to make - why not document the behind the scenes, making of the props/models/etc stuff of this film? You can upload them in parts to build up interest and get a following going. That stuff is always cool to see.

If you have some video ideas, experimental films, technical tests, etc - just go and do it! It’s good practice :D

I'm by no means some video/film expert here but I'll admit that I work at a non profit org that supports local independent filmmakers. Most projects are very small scale... lots of rentals to fellow film students as well as any and all filmmakers/artists.
