How many games...?
« on: October 08, 2012, 05:04:58 PM »
A real quick question: how many games do y'all have for each system?
I'm looking for a quick ballpark number, no need to count your games out here.  But I AM looking for a breakdown of NES, SNES, N64, SNES, and DVD-case games you have, plus any special ones you have like Famicom or Virtual Boy.  Also, this isn't Nintendo only!
Thanks so much everyone who helps :)

I have about... 5-10 games for each system? I generally sell the games I don't plan on playing again.

I honestly have no idea. More than 200 but probably less than 300. That would be my ball park at least. I couldn't give you a break down without counting them and I'm not going to be doing that, otherwise my mind might start adding up the amount of money spent and I'll end up crying.

Let's see currently 0.  However going back and trying to remember my games.

Wii:  8 retail games
Gamecube:  12 games
PS2:  6
Nintendo 64:  8 games
Super Nintendo:  15 games

The important thing to note about these numbers is it is the number of games I owned at one time...I sold and traded in many games...and in the Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 era I rented a lot of games.  And During the Wii era I had about twice as many downloaded VC systems.

In the end, I am pretty standard with how many games I owned at a time.

I'm one of those backlog offenders who prefers not to talk about how many games I own (because it's way too many, with most unbeaten and many unplayed to any meaningful degree). Yet at the same time compulsively tracks and catalogs each game.

He has a good chunk. There were 387 N64 games, 84 exclusive to Japan and 4 to Europe. Assuming mop only has North American games, that means mop is only missing 3 games.

Something like that. There are 296 games released in North America, and I've got 'em all.

I was going by the total list of 387, with 84 exclusive to Japan and 4 exclusive to Europe, and assumed that meant that 299 were out in North America (maybe there were 3 games released in Japan and Europe, but not North America).

I meant what website has the list of 387 that you're talking about, I've seen different lists around, some more accurate than others. And yeah, there were a few games that saw a release in Japan and Europe, but not North America. Rakuga Kids comes to mind, but I'm not sure how many others there were.

(I'm betting the answer is Superman 64... that game is notorious. YouTube some videos if you've never see it in action. However, there are a lot of N64 games I've never played, so maybe something else was worse.)

I know all to well my friend. For my Confirmation many of my relatives gave me cards with money in them as a gift. At that point I was very young, naive and did not yet have access to the internet. Would you like to know what I bought with the money lovingly given to me by my family? I bought Castlevania 64 and Superman 64 based purely on the boxes, lol. All I can say is that children today have far more information at their disposal than I did.

Ouch.  I maintain that Castlevania wasn't as bad as some critics like to say (although it wasn't great either)...but I have absolutely no defence for Superman 64. Hard lesson.
