Good point, Crimm. I tend to want to gravitate towards ones I haven't tried as well, but I think my 'responsibility' over Ninja Spirit winning last time guilted me into choosing a safe one this time.

I voted for Super Mario World because it has been at least ten years since I played it, and because I think it's probably the weirdest Mario game (even more than SMB2 USA).

Really? How so? Maybe it's just our different backgrounds but I never found World to be terribly weird. Maybe I was just one of those children who accepted things as they were blindly and so I played World and allowed it to imprint on me as normal so now there isn't a second thought about it.

I'm going back and playing DKC2 now anyways. Man I love this game.
I haven't played World in a really long time though, so I wouldn't mind if it wins.

Maybe he's talking about the fact that Goombas look like acorns in the game, or some of the odd enemies and levels (especially what happens to certain enemies after you manage to defeat the special stages). That made me love it even more. I urge any last minute voters to pick Super Mario World.

I completely forgot about the special world transformation. Yeah, World was tweaked out.
Vote for it! It is teh awersomeness!

Super Mario World just barely won, but it won. :)

In a future poll I wouldn't mind voting for Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

This was an amazingly close vote--I was really on the edge of my seat watching this one. Every game had a chance of winning this time--there was even a real competition for 3rd place for a while. I'm *shocked* at how ActRaiser came up from behind.

I haven't played Super Mario World in a real long time. I've been playing good deal of older games lately- I beat Wind Waker this morning so this fits in great with me. I'll play along  8)

Super Mario World is my favourite game of all-time. Awesome.

Probably gonna bust out my SNES again to play it how it was originally meant to be played.

Wow. 76 people voted. That's amazing.

So Actraiser and Mario RPG will carry on in another poll. I'm glad Mario World won. And I just found all of those missing cords to my old systems when cleaning out my room and stuff packed in the garage when I moved back in. So I should be all over this.

Just downloaded it, and I think I might actually have to buy a classic controller, I've been fine using gamecube up until now. But it makes it nearly impossible to run.

So, Mario World won, huh?  Sorry, but even though I did buy the game on the VC I played the original so many times I really don't want to go back and play it again now.  I'll look forward to hearing the RFN crew discuss it, I suppose.

SMW is not the game I voted for, but It should be an interesting Retroactive discussion.  I'm exicted about this one.

I'm going to credit my vote for Ogre Battle tying for last place, rather than being solidly in last as I initially expected.

Time to find and dust off the old Super Mario World cart.

Lame.

Super Mario World has already been discussed to death, both positively and negatively, so this can't possibly be any more interesting than any one of the other games on the poll. I doubt I'll be playing the game, though I might still join in on the discussion (which will likely be copy/paste of things I've said on other forums).

I think it's probably the weirdest Mario game (even more than SMB2 USA).
I couldn't disagree with that more. Super Mario World might have a few oddities here and there but it still features the same conventions and enemies as all other main Mario games released before and after it. Super Mario Brothers 2 is a battle for Mario's subconscious, it doesn't have Bowser in it whatsoever, Peach and Toad are playable characters, and the enemies include masked shy soldiers, flying masks, walking bombs, egg-spitting transsexual dinosaurs, mobile cacti, inflated ego mice, etc.

It's interesting that every game in the poll had a respectable (and nearly dead-even)amount of support.
