Nintendo info from IGN:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/09/12/madden-nfl-25-saints-row-iv-top-us-sales-in-august?abthid=523251b4f8aefdec3700002d

According to Nintendo, 190,000 copies of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team were sold in August (combining physical and digital sales), while Pikmin 3 sold 115,000. New Super Luigi U has sold 120,000 combined units across physical and digital.
Nintendo reports that 6.47 million 3DS games have been sold so far in 2013, up nearly 30% from 2012. The following 3DS games have sold at least 250,000 combined copies so far this year:

  • Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (863,000)
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf (739,000)
  • New Super Mario Bros. 2 (406,000 in 2013, 1.85 million total)
  • Fire Emblem Awakening (390,000)
  • Mario Kart 7 (352,000 in 2013, 2.84 million total)
  • Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity (298,000)
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (268,000)
  • Super Mario 3D Land (265,000 in 2013, 2.86 million total)
  • LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins (264,000)

The retail copy should be tracked. It probably didn't sell a lot. According to Siliconera, Tales of Xillia was in the 11th spot.

The latter, and Jojo had some really bad word of mouth (apparently the story mode acts like a F2P mobile game).

3DS sales are going to be insane the next several months.  Thanks to Monster Hunter and Pokemon, Iwata will probably be able to achieve his 100 billion yen goal from just the 3DS alone.

You say that as if it's a good thing that the 3DS will be shielding Iwata from his less-than-stellar actions elsewhere.  :-\

Well, you know it's a weak month when a Wii U game makes the Top 10, but it IS good to see some new blood on the charts for once. I think this may be the first month since Black Ops 2 released that it wasn't on the charts. It'll be interesting to see how 2-10 end up next month's NPD (we all know what Number 1 will be). I have a feeling Killzone Mercenary and Rayman Legends might sneak onto the charts, hopefully with Puppeteer in tow (though I doubt it).

Getting Monster Hunter 4 as an exclusive was the smartest thing Iwata did this gen.  Though long lines could have been for the Vita, just like how Monster Hunter single handedly revived the PSP over there.  Instead, Nintendo managed to successfully steal the majority of the PSP's core audience, which is why in Japan the 3DS will probably end up doing better then the DS did.

It's probably like Japan where Nintendo only shipped 30k because they knew the game wasn't going to sell well.  So yeah, buying from an online site or downloading it on the eShop is the best option.

Yep, Nintendo of America keeping its hard fought record from Europe of being the worse of the Big 3 Regions.

That game should have been everywhere with promotion.  I got my with the $10 credit I had on DDP but I had to make an external harddrive with stuff I had laying around the house to have room for it.

Monster Hunter 4 sells 2m in first four days on sale in Japan.

In Japanese terms, they outsold the Vita.

In American terms, if the game ever comes to the West, the Vita will outsell it.  ;)

I finally got it after a tiresome search all over the city, i found one last copy and the employee was nice enough to save it for me since at the time i was in class. I know it might sound archaic but until Nintendo changes its online policies and decide to tie games to the account and not the system i will hold off on getting games that way, not counting indie games and virtual consoles.

Totally understandable. That's not archaic at all. What's archaic are Nintendo's digital policies and tying software to hardware and not accounts.
