IIRC, from an interview posted on Gonintendo not so long ago from elsewhere----the 3 archetype class choice style is gone in recent times dev wise and replaced with you starting with a character from scratch and mixing and matching as you please from the onset.

So looking forward to this game.

I'll be so glad when all the floodgates open on Eldar Saga info and the thing is on shelves, hopefully to be enjoyed.  So much unknown or confused on that one.

Amazon is pointing at an Oct 31st release date in North America though...

Almost certainly a buy whenever it does finally make it out.

Well, in my case, I first got a taste of the Mahjong game from Clubhouse Games on the DS.  So considering it had only a handful of variants versus this one having scores of them, it felt like a natural move.  In terms of Mahjong alone, and maybe Solitaire too but I've not dabbled in it yet, this package trumps Clubhouse Games and I don't know of any other one available for Wii, DS, etc that this is inferior to.  Plus, supporting niche Wii games that are well made and all that.  I have a sneaking suspicion that this won't be a title that'll stay at full price very long either, unless Crave being bought out shortly after the game shipped complicates matters somehow.

This just makes for a nice, yet different, kind of Wii game out of all the other Wii games out there at this point.  Plus the music is actually well done to the point where I'm wondering if there's an OST out there somewhere for it.

Turns out this is actually pretty decent.  Wii mote controls perfectly fine.   There is an unusually robust soundtrack for the game consisting of 30odd tracks, some remind me of a "classic SEGA game" feel whereas another strongly reminds me of Earthbound for some reason---runs a gambit of genres and I suspect all of the make for decent easy listening.

Challenge wise it took be about 2 and a half hours to clear the first Mahjong board....so with there then being 100 more...then the 101 solitaires....then the matching games and such,  I darersay that's $30 worth of value from the now bought out Crave Entertainment.

Give this a shot people!

I'm not sure why nowhere seems to list this as shortly incoming, but this looked pretty spiffy to me as somebody that got introduced, and hooked, to the few variations of this in Clubhouse Games on the DS.

Anybody else taking the plunge?

I'll actually buy this later on this weekend PROVIDING initial impressions don't reveal some glaring technical flaws and whatnot.  I want more lightgun games for Wii, already own all the ones so far, and am not crazy enough to buy multiple copies of other ones.  Thus, my path, and hopefully enjoyment, is clear.

Glad to see you enjoy the game Kairon...it was worth me posting about it! (Still would like to see a front page news item on it though....especially since work(pre-production I think) for a DS sequel has started and they have some conditional hope for a third one for the Wii(All depending on how the sales and such for the GBA and/or DS iterations perform...)

I still need to get funds up to get the game myself...hoping for an x-mas cash influx.  You and me might be the only people that like the music/ambience though...everywhere else I look folk HATE it with a passion I can't understand.

New Bit:  Odds of being able to pick up either game at gamestop/ebgames just went down.  Apparently, the publisher was told that they (eb/gamestop) are getting out of GBA games and thus didn't want to carry it.  While I find a hard time believing that seeing as how there's FFVI Advance ont he horizon....it is what it is.  They recommend perhaps asking your local chapter of either to special order it, seemingly to hope that if enough racket is raised the game my get some legs there.

Looking more and more like the official seller on amazon and ebay is the only timely way to get it though, for those curious.

Both sames can be bought NOW on Amazon and Ebay at the very least for now.

My Ongoing Saga of Developer Harassment complete with rushed, poor written questions.

http://www.sabarasa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4

Bonus:  Newer, Better, Longer Trailer for Back to Stone  ARPG  from same publisher but a different dev team.
Also available on Amazon for now at least.  Comes out in a couple days I believe.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WsJYBwY5aQ&mode=related&search=

I STRONGLY request the mods/Nintendo World Report staff be made fully aware of this and grant this first endeavor by a new dev team AND new publisher a front page news item mention.   The content of my Developer Harassment also lends some credibility to it being VERY on topic.  Wii is about innovation and something new....thus we need to extend every courtesy to situations like this one and those that may follow it.

Mazes of Fate                                     back to Stone
Watch the Trailers...then head over to Amazon or Ebay.  My GBA Player has been collecting dust for awhile now but that trailer for Mazes of Fate has mere severely tempted to just go for it despite money being tight for the holidays.

Folks prolly need to support this fledgling devteam and such though.....talk about a darkhorse in the last stretch of the GBA!

Where in the world are they getting 1MB NES downloads?  Even some of the biggest fan trans games like Chronicles of the Radia War didn't even break half of that IIRC.

Lack of rumble is BS...the least they could do is try to spin it by saying something retarded like "we thought we'd try copying the PS3 for a change"

No online multiplayer/co-op=FAILURE  Here's hoping they wise up ASAP and start to gain this feature at the very least

Jeez, it is not complicated at all for Nintendo to beat out the fan emulators and give people an enriched classic experience.

TalkBack / RE: Sony Puts Lik-Sang Out of Business
« on: October 24, 2006, 04:00:08 PM »
This is a terrible watershed moment for gaming on the whole.  Period.  No other competitor is safe...and with a sudden loss of one...expect prices to SOAR across all other streams of attainment.

No way Lik-Sang of all places has to coffers overflowing to the point that they can have scores of lawyers in scores of courthouses all around the same time to even begin to defend.  My own personal situation has me stuck against somewhat similar tactics...they don't even FIGURE on winning because they are quite confident that it'll never get far enough to come to that $$$$-wise...from the Antagonist's perspective.  That I'm still fighting after 2 years is a matter of a personal stake...but as a business there's no way Lik-Sang could manage in a remotely similar way.

I know some mad SRW devotees and people that wanted ot get the home port of Hokuto no Ken...they'll flip out when they see this mess.

Oh, and you'll find plenty of defenders and celebraters on GFAQS at least...some even not appearing to be blatant troll accounts.

The youtube run isn't a TAS...a Superplay is like a speedrun though not always.

Here are 2 great sites to peruse....each of which has some AMAZING Metal Slug content(among much more!) with more on the way.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: From Seattle Post-Intelligencer: $250 on Nov. 19
« on: September 14, 2006, 08:33:03 AM »
Bah, the Temptation for Greed thread is haunting me now.

If I happen to get a Wii for Christmas or a late Nov b-day present then that's all well and good.  However, at these kinds of prices, it won't be until sometime in 2007 prolly until I'd get around to shelling out that much.  It doesn't matter to me how much worse the price breaks down for the 360 and PS3 are in some respects, 250 is still 250 in absolute terms at the end of the day.

To me, we've reached a dark chapter in the history of gaming when a proper controller costs more than a standard game itself that isn't Steel Batallion.

On the flip side, I saw a blurb from the transcribin's and such saying the Wii will be region free in the same vein as the DS....unless publishers specifically decide to be d-bags about it.

TalkBack / RE: EDITORIALS: Controller Conundrum
« on: August 31, 2006, 10:22:50 AM »
Seems to me all Nintnedo really has to do to prove their mettle is to have some folk sit down and play some involved games while everybody else watches.  For example, have Reggie and Miyamoto somehow engage in a full blown swordfight with all the trimmings through a LAN or WiFi dealie.  Then let a few other people play and make a live tournament outta it with the prize being an actual "legit" Master Sword.

This kind of thing would pretty sweepingly dispel worries about the controller not being able to work well enough.  The proof of everything lies in nothing other than the games themselves...so Nintendo will hopefully bring everything to bear.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: 1upyours 8/18/06 Nintendo could sell Wii for $99
« on: August 21, 2006, 01:37:22 PM »
EXACTLY!  199$ is the conditioning...the past paradigm.  What has Nintendo been unable to stop shutting up about all these months---gaming paradigm busting.

I'm sure there are tons of people who may never get around to getting a PS3, 360, or even a Wii if the launch price isn't "right for them, right now"  Things tend to come up later, unexpected priority shifts, or just plain forgetting stuff.  Wii shouldn't take a chance on cruel independent fate screwing them out of folk they were "sure" would jump on a cheap Wii price a year or 2 from now.  They need to be assertive and say "We're here NOW DAMMIT!  Ya can have fun and not have to worry about money so much.  No need to tell yourself longingly "Maybe in 1-x years when it drops under 250/200".  WE can enjoy ourselves NOW, not in some uncertain future world."

I see everybody's point in the genral scheme of things about price drops being steategic vs competition and so on....but here's the kicker:

Can GAMING actually expand/grow/etc via a series of annual price drops?  Afterall, that was Nintendo's entire point this time...not to play the contracting and bloating game of those gamers of the last several years that 360 and PS3 covet...but to just flat out increase the fold period.  To get some new blood in there.

Ya can't give a dying patient some fresh blood at a matter of convenience down the line...ya give it ASAP so they can start to reap the benefits of it.  So too with the gaming industry...I'd rather have 2 million (thin air number) gaming on a Wii from the initial mark that is priced cheaper than ever before(weakening the barrier keeping folk form gaming) instead of a million form the initial mark and maybe 500K after 1-2 years using the same old price structure that Nintendo has for years.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: 1upyours 8/18/06 Nintendo could sell Wii for $99
« on: August 21, 2006, 09:29:12 AM »
Again, the other critical part is that the Wii shouldn't be = or cheaper than the DSL.  150-175 is the "magic number" because that range is currently in line enough about the current cost for a DS Lite.

A good release price is better than a bloated one with implied eventual relief(implied only to full blown gamers).  Think of the PR battle to be waged if a 250 Wii fails to outsell a 600+ PS3 for instance...if people go ahead and write the Wii off from the start no price drop to 150 in a year is going to mean much to them...just like such matters didn't for the GC.  All IMO of course.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but I don't think a new control style + cheaper than ever before price in absolute terms is a bad way to go in terms of opening the door wider for more people to get into gaming...and that IS the market Nintendo is aiming for primarily I think.  250 is still 250...and that price is less attractive by far than 150...ESPECIALLY considering the holiday rush shopping that'll soon be upon us.

If the DSL somehow got booted down to 99...well...I don't think it'd be unreasonable for the Wii to cost 130-150/170.  I just don't like the traditional 200 price point unless they are truly cramming lots of stuff into it.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Zelda Using Motion Sensor for Sword!
« on: August 21, 2006, 07:13:20 AM »
Cool...depending on how detailed they let this get...this could be the first fencing Zelda.  Imagine jittering around one's TV, if one is so inclined, while defty thrusting/poking at a foe's vital points!  This is like a hilarious Scarlet Pimpernel flashback...sink me!

Otherwise, awesome move for Nintendo...will they manage better swordplay than Red Steel?

Somebody dig up my old Temptation of Greed thread to see this same circular arguement WITHOUT all the vitriol in this one.  Jeez..

The way I see it, so long as the Wii is at least 20-30$ more expensive than the DS at any given time...Nintendo is acting wisely.  From Reggie's last blurb...it is clear Nintendo understands the power and majesty of a WiiDs combo as opposed to a Wii60...or even just a 360.

150-175 is the magic number.  If they want to be trailblazers, charging more or equal to the amount they have for pretty much every previous console isn't gonna cut it near as well with trying to tempt new people into gaming.

Otherwise check the old thread back when it was a kinder and gentler time round here...

This turn of events lets me dream of Banpresto coming out with a massive overhaul of Super Robot Wars: Scramble Commander for the Wii a little bit easier.

Shoot, just about anything is apparently possible from here on out at a daily pace!
