General Chat / Official Australian PGC visitors disscussion
« on: March 20, 2003, 08:33:58 PM »
I'm doing Computer Systems Engineering with Maths and Computer Science (it's a mouthful) at Adelaide Uni.

As for my dance, how about the nerd-bashing one, followed by the jig to the pub!

do you guys have icq/msn etc? wouldn't mind getting your details if you did

I'm under the MSN e-mail zhifty_shifty@yahoo.com.au if anyone wants to talk to me about Gamecube stuff, or other stuff.

As for Mario's problem, you can't go wrong with movies and a restaurant. Unless the movie is Jackass and the meal is Hungry Jack's. Then you're asking for it!

General Chat / war in iraq
« on: March 19, 2003, 05:57:08 PM »
The number of people who I've seen, and have approached me at uni about this war just shows how much some people believe peace is the answer.

I don't believe them. Peace is just ignoring the problems.

Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. The USA isn't after oil. They are attacking Iraq because of its links to terrorist organisations. Just because the inspectors haven't found them, doesn't mean they are clean. Saddam Hussein has a sophisticated underground network below Iraq, and he could hide just about anything down there.

As for the moral implications of this war, I think this is inevitable. If Saddam Hussein was left alone, one of his sons would become the King of Iraq, and the problems continue. But the sad thing is that people will die, on both sides. And that is what happens in war. I just hope that they get rid of Saddam this time around.

General Chat / Newbie Check-In ... right this way!
« on: March 19, 2003, 05:43:25 PM »
Heh, I'm not quite a newbie. Just telling the other Aussie gamers that I'm not dead, or in Iraq as some idiot human shield. I've just lost touch with PGC and that Cube loving.

Hopefully I'll be posting here a bit more.

Hey Aussie Gamers! Shifty 2k2 is now the one and only Shifty!

I've just started at Adelaide Uni (give us a heads-up if you're around at all, I'm in most days 9-5) and this is a absolute drain on everything. Too much work. Too little time to do everything else that I was doing before Uni. So unfortunately the Cube is gathering dust. I haven't even got around to playing through Resident Evil or Eternal Darkness because of this, which I bought because I thought the boredom would get to me.

Apart from the deficiency in Nintendo lurve, Uni life is a blast. If you are of age, go out on a pub crawl with some friends. The Engineering Pub Crawl last week was the most fun I've had in ages, even with three months away from school. Imagine 750+ people, wandering the streets of Adelaide, searching for another place to get a cheap drink. That was how I spent 9 hours on a Friday night!

Hopefully I'll find some time to get through Metroid, but I'm not sure at this point.

Seeya round like a donut!

Nintendo Gaming / Surprise new Nintendo game in March?
« on: February 07, 2003, 08:06:19 PM »
Since the whole Megaton announcement, I refuse to listen to these rumours, especially from IGN.

Factor 5 are third party. They are a part of Lucasarts, but have a very good working relationship with Nintendo. They have made codecs for the Cube for video compression, and also made Rogue Squadron: Rogue Leader, a very good game too. They have a project in development, but no details have been released as yet.

Silicon Knights are a Nintendo second party. They were bought out somewhere around 2000, when Eternal Darkness showed great promise. I haven't heard any news of a new project, which most people are hoping is Too Human, a game that was shelved so Eternal Darkness could be the focus of the company.

Free Radical Design is a third party, owned by Eidos. There is little chance they will be bought out by someone, unless Sony or Microsoft are looking to shell out for one game every two to three years.

Star Fox: Armada as the mystery game? I reckon Nintendo will start to hype up F-Zero AC/GC before that happens.

My money is on news about the Mario Kart/Tennis/Golf franchises. Some screens or video to make us happy. These games are a given, its just a matter of when.
