TalkBack / Re: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Review
« on: November 27, 2012, 07:43:55 PM »
I really love this game. The single player is pretty fun but it is even better when I was playing 5 player split screen. You can play almost everything split screen which is amazing. Yes there are some frame drops but with five players at once I expected it a little.

As for the swam being a blue shell equivalent I can see that to some degree. I like the swarm way more than blue shells though. It does target the the lead player but it can be dodged with good driving a and a little luck. It all depends on where it is deployed, the more room you have to maneuver (ie in the air. wide lanes, etc) the more likely you can get out unscathed. It also stays place on the map so multiple players can be hit (not the person who fires though) so it doesn't just screw you over for being in first. The best part is that most items can be used in multiple ways, in the case of the swarm you can leave it as a trap behind you to slow down your immediate competition.

at $40 I find that this game is a steal. Its not perfect but it is definitely one of the best launch games.

TalkBack / Re: Server Stress and Broken Systems Vex Wii U Launch
« on: November 18, 2012, 09:11:54 PM »
I feel lucky not to have bricked system but I thought I might have a defective one earlier today. When i tried to download the update I kept getting an error code while it was updating. The code read that it couldn't connect to the server even though everything else I own worked fine. I still haven't gotten the wiiu internet to fully work. I had to reconnect and restart the update download every 5 minuets for about 2 hours just to finish. I was worried that my Wiiu had a defective wifi antennae or something. I discovered a similar issue happening on my regular wii when connecting to the Nintendo servers for the transfer process. At least its not defective hardware just poor server stress management.

Oh and no you don't need the update to play any games, just to do anything else...

TalkBack / Re: 3DS Successor, Not Revision
« on: June 13, 2012, 06:43:05 AM »
is it wrong for me to want Nintendo to milk money out of me with revisions of their hardware? i just want the same system with better battery life and maybe the circle pro built in. I would be willing to trade in my current 3ds and pay another 50-60$ for that alone. Oh but they have to keep the dark blue the red and the purple colors. those 3 are so sick.

TalkBack / Re: Kirby Anniversary Collection Games Revealed
« on: June 13, 2012, 02:23:00 AM »
I love kirby and all but the best part of kirby games is that they get the most experimentation out of all the Nintendo franchises. It would have been nice if they added some of the "wackier" games in the series in addition to these. Some of them wouldn't work well but there are a few that could transition into the package. (wouldn't work "tilt and tumble" and "canvas curse", would work well "dream course" and "air ride")

TalkBack / Re: First-Party Wii U Games Running at 720p Natively
« on: June 08, 2012, 03:02:05 AM »
You can notice the difference between 720p and 1080p it just makes less and less of a difference the smaller the screen is. As long as I get pretty graphics, running at a constant 60 fps with no noticeable slow down, I will be happy.

it looks pretty cool. I am getting the impression that the main game doesn't have a campaign with a definite end, something I would like to have may I add.

I did not like stick clicks until I was forced to get used to them to play some first person shooters on 360. I don't particularly enjoy them but I do like that they add more ways to control a  complex game without adding more places for your fingers to go. They are a really helpful control option in some games. For example COD (which i don't play anymore btw) making both sprint and going prone clicking a stick (tactical layout) most of your immediate movement options are only stick actions. That means you are always ready to move and shoot without having to move your hands at all since getting to the buttons can be a pain, especially under stress. In general they aren't really needed for most games but it is nice to have them and it keeps parity with the other controllers so porting is less of a pain.

TalkBack / Re: Wii U Pro Controller Set to Release with Wii U
« on: June 03, 2012, 08:12:28 PM »
when i watched the Nintendo direct i just happened to have my black glossy 360 controller(wired) next to me so I thought I would observe some things.

I do like having off set sticks on the 360, but now that I think about it critically my liking for the stick placement has nothing to do with having the sticks apart. It has more to do having the button up and to the right so I can reach them by sliding my thumb into the proper resting position. The upside to having both sticks up is I find that my motor control is actually better with the left stick over the right (though I am right handed). With that in mind I would like booth thumbs to naturally rest on the sticks rather than just one. I just hope switching to buttons/dpad is a very easy transition.

Boring further analysis: When I looked at my hand my thumb it is nearly horizontal and i realized i am almost doing opposite motions with my fingers to get the same manipulation of the sticks (ie. move thumb up for forward on left stick, to go up on right stick i am moving my thumb to the right). It also occurred to me that moving my right thumb left and right to get up and down might be a little more difficult. It then made sense why I would prefer to hit forward and back on the left stick and move left and right on the other stick, in both cases i'm moving my thumbs up and down.

I guess when people gets some hands on with the pro controller on Tuesday the new controller will be put to the test.

I am kinda looking forward to this. I never play main line ff games for some reason, but i play a lot of the spin offs (tactics, crystal Chronicles, kingdom hearts, etc...). Iv'e always loved the music from the games and i love rhythm games so i think i'll pick it up. $40 might be a little steep though. maybe i will wait for a price drop or a deal.
