General Chat / My First Rant: A Gamer/Brony story here.

For those not in the know and outside of the few people I could trust with this info I am leaving the forums. I have been planning this for about 2 years but I wanted to finis hosting the 2 Mafia games I had planned from back then.So this has been a long time coming for me and I have been very emotional writing out this post.
My reasons for leaving are many and mainly have to do with the forums. There is also a few other members who have left from here and I share the same issues and concerns.So lets get to the first.
Bullying is a major one and at times I have seen people on the forums go and rail on a person just because they were posting a certain way here. Tendoboy's posts are a good example of people who did this. I personally think he was just trying to bring up conversation on the forum with his posts. Also there were people who were bullied at times in the past who became the bullies to fit in with the in crowd so they themselves would not get bullied. It can become an endless cycle.
This next one is one of the reasons I left the forum for a month during E3 this year. It just happened each year at E3 and also happened all through out the year from many people and it just got to much and that is Entitlement. This has more to do with being patient with Nintendo but also have to do with your fellow gamers. Nintendo sometimes can't release some info right away because their competitors will steal it. As for our fellow gamers it is usually a good idea to embrace all gamers no matter who they are because once we do that games will be ore accepted then they already are by everyone and not just something gamers keep to themselves while clawing at anyone else that doesn't fit in with the gamers mold whatever that is.
One of the most important things when keeping a good forum is to know how much moderation on the forums is enough and this forum has tons of topics that breaks the rules on the forums. There is a certain amount of tact needed to run a forum as a mod while enforcing the rules while keeping the members happy. I find the mods here are not very good here at doing this. I am a mod at 2 and I guess it comes down to the people there. Mods on the forum here can be condescending at times of the forum members.
This goes with the condescending as well. This isn't a good place to be a fan of Nintendo anymore. You have to temper your posts with qualifiers. In other words you can not be a overly positive Nintendo fan you have to put in some small negative that Nintendo has done and this also goes for Sony and Microsoft. You are singled out and put in SUPERs Fanboy euthanization station topic. I kinda joked in one of the topics here that I hoped that this place doesn't become a hive mind but in a way it has. It has become a place for negativity more then anything little by little until there is hardly any positivity left on the forums.People will be tired of it and then leave like I am and then it will be more pessimistic then anything else.
Final issue/concern I have and then I will get to how I would fix this and then positive stuff.You are a trooper for reading this far.
Final issue is that the site is having like many other big sites is that it is starting to have misleading titles for the talkback threads and or blog posts that have a headline that just is there for clicks and or to cause the reader to get emotional upset and post a comment and keep the discussion going. I know I have seen in the past there have been articles like this in the archive but when I went to go back to look for but they were gone from the site. There was a Rick Powers one that was pretty off base and got lots of comments but I can't find it anywhere on the site. Few others come to mind but that was the most forefront in my mind at this time.
I know some people get their jollys posting in these type of topics to feel like the thoughts are justified but if you need to find a better way of getting hits then posting these type of pieces or click bait.
I would personally do three things that will solve most of these things.
One get rid of the Karma system or modify it so that is just positive points.Maybe have it so that you can plus a post kinda like how it works in Miiverse. It indirectly causes division and is a passive aggressive way of dealing with people how it is set up currently. Also if the mods come back with that it is dumb for people to complain and the mods and admins came up with it then isn't it just place back on the mods. Just saying that that that it could use some work or be done with altogether.
Get better mods that can enforce the rules of the forums and can stay on the forums most of the time. I'd like to stay to mod but I can't for obvious reasons. 1. I am leaving as per this post. 2. I am a mod on two forums. 3. I have many other things I need to take care of in real life.
Finally if you have read that then congrats you are halfway through. The above is for the mods and admins the rest below is for everyone else.
I will say my most fun time I had here was when I was playing with people on the forums and actually talking about games and what they were doing in real life. In games like Animal Crossing: City Folk, Tri,SSBB, and Mario Kart Wii. I liked just chatting with people in Animal Crossing:City Folk and the generosity as far as sharing my time and items and helping out people and any stories from real life we had. For Tri it was just the loyalty and kindness to all I played with and that I stuck with them and worked with them in the game. Super Smash Brothers Brawl I can honestly say that that it made me a better gamer skillwise because I didn't really care much for competition type stuff but I worked at the game and for the most part I do pretty good at it and many other games since. As for Mario Kart Wii it made me enjoy gaming again and it brought the community aspect to games again.
The Brony part of this story actually started for me on this forum and it wasn't because of that topic that I like to post in a lot these days but from someone from these very forums and he faved a video back in I want to say February 2011 or at least that's when the episode came out for Sonic Rainboom. I didn't really click on the video at the time but I just saw the thumbnail and I thought hmm this person on the NWR forums faved this well that's interesting. I put it out of my head for a while but then I heard about the show through other outlets that I watched like a Monster Hunter podcast and it was near the end of the cast but didn't get it.
After a while at the start of August 2011 the word meme pops in my head for some reason so I look it up and I find the Know your meme channel on YT. So I was interested in memes so I did a marathon and pretty much watched all the videos that night and the newest video they had uploaded was about the show. After I finish watching the videos I go check out Ponychan and Equestria Daily and check out if there was any games and there was one that intersted me and it was a mix of Zelda and MLP and it was being made. I look up the name of the game and then I find this 300 page topic about the show and I lurk through the topic while watching each episode and then watching any fan content that was in the topic till I was caught up after about 2 weeks season 2 was about to start and I have been more happy since. It took many months from when I got into the show from August 2011 to December 2011 to come back on here and post about it because I wasn't to sure how anyone was going to respond to it. Part of the reason I decided to become a Brony was because a I have a niece so we can bond together with it, there was just to much negativity on here and this was just another way of me injecting positivity on here, the other is that it is a darn good show and everyone should at least give it a chance. It has relatable stories anyone can relate to.One of the newer episodes called Too Many Pinkie Pies is pretty much me nowadays to many things I want to do but not enough of me to go around. Also the characters are people that you probably would know in real life if they were actual people.

Also if he dies via Killer or vote out then there will be no hit for the night and there will be a choice between the remaining Mafia members for the new Godfather.Will show up as a townie when investigated.
John Lindemann (Lindemann Syndrdrome) He can cause another persons vote to not count for that day. Will show up as his role in investigations.
James Jones (Forum Maintenance) He can cause votes during a hour to not count.Will show up as his role in investigations.
Guillaume Veilette (Mafia Pretender) When the Investigator searches the Pretender the pretender will tell me which role they want to come back as and I will tell that to the Investigator. Will show up as that role when chosen as the GF.
Neal Ronaghan- Just a typical Mafia goon and he has no special powers and he will show up as Mafia Goon in investigations.
Townie roles
BlackNMild (Investigator) This person can search one person each night and get back data about one person. Have to watch out for the Mafia Pretender messing up investigations though.
Shyguy(Protector) He can protect one person from being attacked each night by sending me and Insanolord a PM. You may not protect yourself.

« on: August 24, 2012, 12:40:21 AM »Rarity(Khushrenada) even though she was so unlike her generous self and much like her greedy and selfish discorded self she was greedy for Discord (Oblivion's) head for what he did to her. So like a rockslides of Tom's the votes kept on coming on from the remaining ponies in the the desert. Pinkie Pie (Silenced) threw out a vote but it was a prank vote much expected from the Pink party pony. Big McIntosh (Nickmitch) being the quiet and strong and long standing pony in the world of Equestria and in forum games knew he had to stand strong and get out Discord.
Discord maybe possibly being confused by his own chaos magic or maybe he figured that he had lost and it was over voted for himself. He wasn't to sure to be honest.
AppleJack (Mop it up) just stood back and was in shock at was happening that she didn't vote.

Jrlibrarian aka Fluttershy who narrowly escaped death a few days ago unfortunately was too cute for her own good and was drawing to much attention to herself and that drew all the votes for her.
After that she was out of the game and she exclaimed to the rest of the town folks. "You are not a bad ponies you just made a bad decision."
That night the torrental Chocolate Rain was still going on for the final night and The Mafia decided to use their hit that night to get a hold of the towns folk and take control of the kingdom of Equestria. Discord and Queen Chrystalis each stalked the town of Appleloosa during the odd weather.They decided to split up to stalk their prey more easily. Discord narrowed his eyes on Nickmitch for his target for the night. He thought it would be a fitting choice. Nickmitch was Shining Armor who was Twilight Sparkle's older brother and also Captain of the Royal Guard. So Discord was about to do some of his trickery and cause him victim to see things that were not there and to change to the opposite of who they were but in the chocolate Rain that doesn't work on their intended target as well as it should or as accurate as it should. In the end Discords trickery hit his own teammate Queen Chrystalis and what happened next was sad and tragic. Before she was Discorded she would be boastful and feed on love to keep her subjects and herself full and healthy but now that she is Discorded she is meek and she feeds on hatred and all the negative emotions to keep her full and really the only place in Equestria that is like that is Tartarus. So she and her changlings went down to there for the rest of the game and let Discord fend for himself.

Braeburn(TJ Spike) was visiting to the giant city of Canterlot and he was to be frank out of place. For being a Earth pony who was more of a western pony. The city of Canterlot was an elegant and regal city mainly for unicorns. So needless to say this pony was out of place. With his outgoing personality and just him saying where he was all the time like so...
He was pretty out of hand and not well liked. One other pony was in the running as well for being run out of Canterlot but that pony was more liked the Braeburn. He was a normal pony.
Scootaloo (Unclebob) was fearing for her life and was paralyzed by fear to do anything and this indecision and this was easy pickings for Discord. Discord approached Scootaloo and made various images of chickens and birds such to extrabat the issue. Scootaloo said that she wasn't a chicken but well her actions said other words.
In the end she ended trying flying convinced finally by the illusions however Scootaloo can't fly yet or even has her own episode yet so in essence her fear killed her.

At the top of Cloudsdale at the best young flyers competition there stood Rainbow Dash(Bustin98) so swift and loyal.She started her performance to wow the crowd with her aerial feats. With her was another random pony and she was doing many tricks that were very challenging and she couldn't handle it and she started to fall and Rainbow essentually did this. but at the apex of it she ran out of steam and fell to the ground and lost the vote after saving whoever that pony was.
Discord was having to much fun dancing on Twilight Sparkles head to send in a hit.

The Mane 6 had made it to where the Elements of Harmony were being kept because they thought that they could help figure out the problems in Ponyville.
There at the ancient castle of the Royal Pony sisters Twilight and Nightmare Moon stood off and Twilight Sparkle undeterred stared at Nightmare Moon. Twilight Sparkle started to stomp her hoof and as to charge her foe and NightMare Moon just responded with.
After that Twilight Sparkle and Nightmare Moon charged at each other and Nightmare moon ended up being the victor because of superior Magic skills. Twilight Sparkle was sent to the moon then. Impressed with her power of doing that and thinking only Princess Celestia could do that she boasted a bit to much and let her guard down.
Just after that happened Pinkie Pie comes in with a Katana sword after breaking the 4th wall and cuts Nightmare Moon down. Hopefully for the rest of the Equestria that happens many more times.

In the land of Equestria there was 6 friend and many other ponies and there were many other mythical creatures as well in the land. There was Windigo's, Manticore's, Dragon's, and Cerberus among other things. Also in the land there were 3 very odd and peculiar ponies. One was one that could revert to a younger form and could somehow alter time as well. The next one was one who could shapeshift and mess with the order of the world and other ponies. The final one was one that thrived on the love of the ponies around Equestria and since Equestria was so happy well she could stay around for a while.
The Mane 6 Twilight Sparkle, Apple Jack, Fluttershy,Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity went and went on their merry way unaware of the danger in their midsts as well as the rest of Ponyville.

Anybody can use items. Good or bad.
Elements of Harmony
The Elements of Harmony can be used by someone who finds them but there is a catch. They have to figure out who is the Mane 6 and PM me their guess. They only get one guess a day. If they are correct then they can use it if they wish to use it on 1 person who they think is Mafia. If the Mafia gets the item then they can't use it but they will keep it away from the townies/Mane 6 and if the person with the EoH dies then that becomes unusable to the Mane 6 because it has been corrupted by Darkness. If the person with the EoH dies and is on the townie side then it goes back in the item pile.
Invisible Ink. This is more of a defensive item. You can be invincible for 2 attacks a night.
Poison Joke Flower. This item causes the holder to not be able to do their action for the day. Be it Role or night action. You have no control over this really till the next day is up.
Umbrella Hat: Your Pinkie Sense is twitching. Basically you can tell what type of role is being used on you when you have this item but not who is using it on you. Kinda a reverse investigation. You have to figure out who is looking for you yourself.
Anvil:This is one of the attacking items. I am going to just make it so that it can stun the person for the day. Which means whoever this is used on can't use their ability for the night.
Binoculars: This item can tell you the persons role.
Knock out gas: This basically causes the person it is used on to not be able to vote for the next day.
Katana Sword: This item is kill one person and then it goes back in the pile.
Chocolate Rain: Eternal Chaos comes with Chocolate Rain you guys Chocolate Rain! Basically a lot of bad things happen for both sides. This is an envirmental item and will last for 2 days after it has been unleashed. It basically causes lots of random stuff to happen to the items and roles and the Mafia. Pretty much the vote is the only safe measure unless you are really gambling with things.
Mare do Well Mask. This Mask can give the bearer the ability to fly above attacks or defend. The flying has a limited amount of uses. The flying, however will not reset back to the max when it goes back in the pile. The defends have an unlimited amount of uses. Basically you need to vote out this person to get this person out for good whoever is holding it at the time. I have added that the townies can use this item to defend against hits while the Mafia can fly above any items being used on them.
Buzz Saw. This item can kill someone of the players choosing. Simple as that.
Finally the Power of Love Spell. This can be used to either get rid of the Chocolate rain sooner if it is active or to get past Queen Chrystalis blockade of investigations quicker and find out who she is. For the Mafia they can use it and if Queen Chrystalis gets it as a item then she can add a member to the team because Queen Chrystalis feeds on love.

Finally Queen Chrysalis She can be searched twice. On the second search she shows up as who she is. I may change this though

Well I have been planning this since the second Season of MLP:Friendship is Magic but things have been getting in the way of finishing its planning from getting a co host and putting it together and then figuring out how the roles should work in the game for each of the villians and the 6 main characters but that is behind me.
Anyway this is going to be a pretty different Mafia game from the last one that you guys just played in that it will be role heavy but I will explain as much as I can.
Game will start on August 17th 2012. I will put up the Day 1 thread in the morning. The voting will end later on in the night at Midnight EST.
I guess the first thing I should get out of the way is the Roles of both sides.

What is the purpose of the game?
If you are on the townie side you want to vote out the Mafia.
If you are Mafia you want to vote out the townie side.
How do I vote?
Each day I will put up the day thread and everyone will decide on who is Mafia and then vote for them. Simple type in bold for who you want to vote for.
for example Vote Maxi.
If you want to change your vote then you must unbold your previous vote and make a new post while keeping your previous vote visable. un-vote Maxi and then make a new post with your new vote. I won't count your vote if you don't do this.
What is a Mafia hit?
The Mafia gets to attack 1 person each night with a kill action. The current Godfather will have to PM me with their action for the night. Nightmare moon will start as the first Godfather.
How are winners decided?
If you are a townie then you must vote and or kill all the Mafia members out of the game.
If you are the Mafia then you can win in two ways. Get the remaining of the Mane 6 alive discorded at the same time or to have equal amount of Mafia members as there is townies.
If we have any neutrals then they have to be the last one standing in the game.
What happens in the event of a tie?
If there is a tie then I will ask Rainbow Dash if she wants to put herself in the votes way. If not then there will be a 30 minute tie breaker period. The tie break can be done by anyone that has voted or by someone that hasn't yet that day.
If after the 30 minutes passed the tie break hasn't been resolved then nobody will die.

If you are Mafia you want to vote out the townie side.
How do I vote?
Each day I will put up the day thread and everyone will decide on who is Mafia and then vote for them. Simple type in bold for who you want to vote for.
for example Vote Maxi.
If you want to change your vote then you must unbold your previous vote and make a new post while keeping your previous vote visable. un-vote Maxi and then make a new post with your new vote. I won't count your vote if you don't do this.
What is a Mafia hit?
The Mafia gets to attack 1 person each night with a kill action. The current Godfather will have to PM me with their action for the night. Nightmare moon will start as the first Godfather.
How are winners decided?
If you are a townie then you must vote and or kill all the Mafia members out of the game.
If you are the Mafia then you can win in two ways. Get the remaining of the Mane 6 alive discorded at the same time or to have equal amount of Mafia members as there is townies.
If we have any neutrals then they have to be the last one standing in the game.
What happens in the event of a tie?
If there is a tie then I will ask Rainbow Dash if she wants to put herself in the votes way. If not then there will be a 30 minute tie breaker period. The tie break can be done by anyone that has voted or by someone that hasn't yet that day.
If after the 30 minutes passed the tie break hasn't been resolved then nobody will die.

From the video I can tell it has destructable enviroments, it seems like the Monsters are actually hunting you and not the other way around.Climbing walls and jumping on Monsters.
Any other thoughts on what the game should have in it?

Well in the most recent issue of Famitsu it has been confirmed that there is a version for the 3DS. Here is some details of the game.
Monster Hunter 3G is an enhanced port of Monster Hunter Tri.
3G is out in Japan this year in Japan.
Will have 12 weapon types and will feature the underwater hunting from Tri.
Local Multiplayer included but online specifics not mentioned.
Touch the touch screen to automaticly face the monster.
New cover Monster is Blakidos.
Pretty excited about the 12 weapon types and that under water hunting is back.
These are the weapons that will likely be in this game. sword and shield,dual swords,Long sword,Great Sword, Hunting Horn,Hammer,Lance, Gun Lance,Bow,Switch Axe, Light Bowgun and heavy bowgun.
Oh also TGS is next week so maybe we will get more info and screens and maybe video of gameplay.

NWR Mafia Games / Mafia LII:Teen Titans Day 5

The 4th day of the battle went like this.
The Titans managed to find out where Slade was hiding and where every one of his minions and fellow villians were.
The Titans took the place by storm. Robin went streight after Slade and fought him with everything he had. He took out his metal bo staff and so did Slade. Robin started with a thrust for the chest and Slade evaded to the side and then counted with a sweep and leapt up high. This continued for a while and Beast boy finished and dispatched his foes and captured them. Beast boy went towards Slade and was using his animal forms to take it to Slade. Finally after a long struggle Beast boy morphed in to a squid and captured him with his tentacles.
Raven switched her focus to Darkfire.Darkfire was braging about how they killed Starfire and that there was noting the titans could do to bring her back. They both fought for a while but in the end it was Raven that was successful because she had her final gear. She morphed into the terrifying and evil and very hard to control side of Raven. She used her darker side to get rid of Darkfire. After alot of effort from the remaining Titans she changed back to her normal self.
Meanwhile Madmod was no where to be seen.

General Gaming / Sega Pass gets hacked

I just got an email from Sega and they informed me that Sega Pass got hacked. They also said that a subset of SEGA Pass members emails addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords were obtained. To stress, none of the passwords obtained were stored in plain text. If you guys remember I got an account over at the Sega forums so that I could try to set up an interview between HVS and NWR way back before The Conduit came out. They also recomended to change the login info of other sites if it is the same as the Sega Pass log in info.
They say they got hacked on the 16th and they sent me the email on the 17th.So it was a pretty fast turn around when letting everyone about it and they were upfront with everyone.
Now this type of thing has been happening alot with all the console manufactures and now things are starting to show up on internet sites. This is a quite frankly a scary thing. Has anybody had to handle this type of thing recently with any of the other consoles and or sites?

NWR Mafia Games / Mafia LII:Teen Titans:Day 4 anew

Well the third day of the battle went.
The townies decided to vote for Aqualad (aka Mary Jane) because Superboy thought that he was the top choice and he thought that was the best choice. To prove that he wasn't a bad guy he thought he could invite everyone to his under water base of operations. So some of them agreed and some decided to hang back and fight the good fight. A random citizen, Speedy and Blue Beetle went with Aqualad. A little before they arrived Slade was looking around and found Aqualad's room and planted some things there that made it look like he was one of the bad guys.He left in a haste. Just then one by one they went down to his base. So once they all got down to the base they decided to look around and then they got to Aqualad's room and when they entered they saw tons and tons of things that were basically plans to get into the Titan's Hideout and ways to disable the defense systems and all the weaknesses of the Titans. The three saw all this and well it didn't end well for Aqualad.
Killowat (aka Despicable)was fighting with Overload and it was pretty much a stalemate. As the battle went on suddenly Killowat just disappeared from existence. Something or someone was erasing heroes and villians from existence.
Meanwhile Mas Y Menos was was captured by Control Freak and they were separated. Just as he transported into the TV and computer. Something odd happened. Two Starfire's showed up in each of the devices. Control Freak informed Slade of this and told Control Freak to bring them to him. Just as Slade was about to destroy Mas he suddenly disappeared. Menos wasn't to lucky and was destroyed by Slade.
Just then 3 figures showed up and thought they had the best solution to this fight. Well when the 3 figures used their powers together something very strange happened. Time stopped all around, They were somehow transported to another dimension and everything wasn't making any sense except for the 3 figures. The three figures tried and tried to switch everything back the way they were but they just couldn't do it. The only thing they could do is restart the time again.
Just then time started again and everyone decided to vote out Mary Jane. It wasn't the best choice.
Killowat (aka Despicable) got trapped into a computer and got a virus. He tried and tried to show up but every time he tried to go after a bad guy he couldn't do so and he just disappeared after a short while.
Just then one final figure came into view. He had short black hair, he had a bit of hair in front of his face hanging down slightly and he was wielding nunchucks. Suddenly he returned one of the players in this battle to being Argent and not Starfire. Slade didn't see this switch and went after Argent. Try as she might to escape she just couldn't do so. She tried to use her powers to create a wall around her but Slade got to her before she could do anything. She was missing the next day.

Wasn't able to make it to the fight.He got separated and they couldn't use their super speed to make it to the fight.

Okay people here is the deal. GP she never had the Starfire role originally when the game started.The owner of the Starfire role couldn't play because of his laptop wasn't working.He asked if he could be a normal townie. I agreed and chose one of the normal townies as the new Starfire.The person with the starfire role actually died by not voting for 3 days. This person never sent any actions to me to protect anybody or evade.There was never any Puppet King switch between GP and the original owner of the Starfire role so for all intents and purpose the Starfire role should be out of the game.
Now moving forward. I want anybody that had a role action to send it in again. You can change your action from what ever you sent in recently.Since this whole thing has cause a rift in the day. All day today you can send in your actions.Once I have all the actions in I will start the Day 4 anew.
