The DoA movie was pretty good...
« on: November 17, 2006, 06:42:59 PM »
Srsly! It made for a pretty good B-movie, especially when you did a shot every time something immensely unrealistic happened.

Luckily, they had the good sense to not take the movie seriously.

Silly Smash_Brother, a movie can't be good unless Evan tell us that it's good.

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

ZOMG! I just saw it! The beginning was cheesy as hell, but then the movie became surprisingly watchable in the middle and end.

And then I was wondering why the choreography didn't suck, and why I was enjoying watching the martial arts fights (when I usually find 'em boring) and then I discover that choreographer Cory Yuen directed!

Woah! I've already got the first Mortal Kombat movie in my collection, and though I don't think this movie is as pop-corny entertaining as the first MK, the fun and inventive choreography and feel-good story makes me wonder...

We laughed so hard when the Russian (can't remember his name) cocked his arms like shotguns.

I assume you are talking about Bayman.

I wonder what happened to the movie. I never heard about it being released, nor reviews of the movie appeared.

Not that this means anything, but it got a 3 1/2 stars (out of 5) on Netflix, and I just added it to my queue due to all the "its not bad, I kinda liked" hype going around the internet. Thank god it wasn't made by Uwe Boll...

speaking of Uwe Boll, his latest movie(can we call it that?) now has a trailer - Postal - The Movie
and honestly it might be his best one yet, but only cause its supposed to be a horrible film and not take itself seriously.

I was just reading a small bit about it on JoBlo.com yesterday.  In North America, apparently they decided to put it direct-to-DVD.  In that same JoBlo.com newspost, they mentioned where you could see it online.  I think it was illegally (though I could be wrong) which I thought was very unusual for JoBlo.com.

Is this the kind of movie I should watch without pants on?

Ewww.... NO!

This is like... the closest any movie has come to the original Mortal Kombat movie ever. Feel-good simple storylines, neat choreography, NOT AT ALL FAITHFUL to the games, good clean PG-13 fun. Noteworthy: This movie was directed by the choreographer for the Matrix.

And believe it or not, once you get past the first 8 minutes, no gratuitous breast shots! And... Jaime Presley is actually pretty respectable...

AND OH MY GOD THIS IS THE FIRST MOVIE IN WHICH I HAVEN'T HATED DEVON AOKI WITH A VENGEANCE!!! THIS MOVIE HAS DONE THE IMPOSSIBLE: MAKE ME NOT HATE DEVON AOKI!

Hmm, I liked the first Mortal Kombat movie.

The JoBlo.com article says it's on Google Video in its entirety, if it's still there this weekend I may check it out.

On a side note, doesn't Devon Aoki play Kasumi?  I am not a Kasumi fan (too baby-faced) and Devon Aoki doesn't really look like her (which also isn't a good thing).  But Aoki wasn't bad in Sin City, IMO.

That Postal trailer was...kind of funny.  Except I really didn't need to see Dave Foley's Wii.
That's my opinion, not yours.

No breast shots in DOA? Sounds like I'm not watching it. Ewe Boll even got Kristina Lokken (sp?) to show her cans in BloodRayne.
I think it says on the box, 'No Hispanics' " - Jeff Green of EA
