Sheesh, talk about cringeworthy. That was almost painful to watch.

This was simply beautiful. The pronunciations of the misspelled words and internet slang killed me! That kid needs to alpha up if wants the chickie pies.  :cool;

As this is my favourite game of all time, it is a goal of mine to own every version and rerelease of this game. Needless to say, I will be downloading this for both platforms.

The article should say the Wii Mini is coming to the US. It's been out for quite some time here in Canada, and last time I checked, Canada is indeed a part of North America.

WHAT?! I booted up Swapnote to check my notes for the evening, and I see the message pop up stating Spotpass was discontinued for it. C'mon Nintendo, this is NOT cool! I use Swapnote on a daily basis and it's the most played software for several people on my friends list. I'm pretty bummed over this, it was such a great way to connect with other 3DS players.

TalkBack / Re: Our Pokémon X/Y Teams
« on: October 29, 2013, 12:21:12 PM »
I'm at post-game, so my team is not really well-formed at the moment... Magikarp and Aegislash for catching Dittos in the Friend Safari for breeding, and Fletchinder for hatching eggs.

I ended the main story with:

Mozilla - Delphox
I always start with Fire, and this was no exception. Nice secondary Psychic typing and great speed. Fast, strong, and reliable.

Toxic - Nidoking
This guy was a beast! Poison Jab wrecked the Fairies and Dig/Earthquake destroyed everything else. The +10 to his Attack base stat this gen is really evident. Definitely the MVP of my team.

Hexcalibur - Aegislash
Swords Dance + Shadow Sneak was an awesome combo. His stupidly high defenses allowed him to set up, then he proceeded to wreck **** up. Fainted maybe once or twice throughout the whole playthrough.

Static - Ampharos w/ Mega Stone
The Mareep line are my favourite Electric types, so I usually go for them if available. I found Mega Ampharos to be a bit underwhelming, though. Slow as balls and just didn't seem to hit all that hard, despite the 165 base Special Attack. Maybe it was from the lack of Electric-weak Pokémon around. That's how it seemed to me, anyway.

Chill - Lapras
Wartortle just wasn't cutting it for me, so I switched to Lapras as soon as I got it. Great bulk, awesome movepool, and a much-needed Ice STAB were this guy's hallmarks. Oh, and the custom Surfing model was pretty cool too. Reminded me of GSC.

Infection - Dragalge
Poison/Dragon is a type combo I've been hoping for forever and as soon as I learned of this guy's existence, I hopped on the GTS and grabbed a Skrelp to breed, as I have X. Too bad she was pretty underwhelming in battle. Mediocre Special Attack, slow as molasses, but such a cool design and typing! I couldn't resist, despite type redundancy with my other team members. Probably should have stuck with Tyrantrum...

It's too bad there aren't any hardcore fans/competitive battlers in the NWR staff ranks (though correct me if I'm wrong). I'd love to hear the opinions of a seasoned battler here on NWR.

I'm totally hyped for the new games. I'm a huge Pokémon fan and usually end up putting 200-400 hours into each entry I play, and I doubt XY will be any different. Pokémon is the only series I play competitively online, and I do it a lot, so the EV-training minigames are greatly appreciated. The graphics look great and I can't wait to explore the new world with everything fresh and (mostly) unspoilered. Pokémon Amie is something that I will probably tinker with for a few minutes when I get access to it, but I will likely grow bored and move on, like with Contests, Musicals, etc. As for Pokémon Bank, I will definitely go for the $5/year thing. It sucks and it's annoying that we'll be charged for something that used to be free, but it's an ultimately necessary (for me) feature. The free trial is nice, though. My National Dex is complete in Black 2, so it'll be nice to mass import everything over at once, unlike having to play that minigame to send over 6 at a time from HeartGold to Black or, god forbid, having to trade over each monster individually from Black to Black 2.

What I'm most excited for, though, is seeing how the type chart changes, new Pokémon, and Mega Evolutions impact the metagame. I know the changes are going to be huge and a lot of shifting around will happen, but of course we don't really know what's going to happen until we start battling. But I suppose pre-release speculation is part of the fun. Some of the big questions I've been thinking about are: How much more powerful are the Mega Evolutions than normal Pokémon? Will they become too overcentralizing? Will the Fairies be enough to end the reign of the Dragons? If so, will the Fairies become the dominant type? Will we see an increased usage of the already popular Steels to deal with them, despite the nerf? Or will Poisons rise up and finally see some offensive usage? And finally, will Nidoking become one of the premier Fairy counters with a Sheer Force, Life Orb, Sludge Wave set?

But yes, I'm excited to say the least.

I dunno, I don't really get this move. I want to call BS on the no 3D for younger kids thing. Weren't there doctors who explained that 3D isn't harmful, even to children? Also, 3D on 3DS is entirely optional, with a parental setting to turn it off even when the slider is up. I get low price + Pokemon release, but almost every time I go to Walmart, the original 3DS is on sale for $140 anyway, making the pricing advantage largely moot. Other than that, it does look comfy to hold, though I just can't help but think it looks cheaply made (or flimsy). Which I guess is the point. Cut costs and lower price.

Nevertheless, it does look quirky and I certainly wouldn't mind picking one up sometime in the future. It would make a neat addition to my collection.

Wind Waker HD Sets Sail for North America on October 4

Oh, I get it! Because the game has you do a lot of sailing in it. Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! No mention of the fact that it will immediately tank and sink to the bottom of the "sails" charts, eh?

I dunno about being at the bottom, but I don't think it'll be a system seller either, being a remake rather than a brand new game. On top of that, I think the majority of Zelda fans have already played Wind Waker on GCN and the high price certainly wouldn't entice them to get it again. I'll probably get it at some point, but I'm one of the few who never played the original so it'll be like a new game to me.

HAHAHAHAOHOHOHO

Does Magnemite ring a bell? I get pretty sick of this Pokemon elitism with the original 151 Pokemon, myself.

(Not saying you're being elitist, but I do get sick of that kind of attitude.)

This. Magnemite the magnet, Koffing the naval mine, Grimer the literal pile of sludge... I'd go as far to say that Gen I is the least creative of the generations, by far. I'll take Blaziken over Charizard and Hydreigon over Dragonite any day.

61
Streetpasses are pretty rare in my neck of the woods to begin with, so I'm not overly concerned about if or when the new games come.

62
I'd be more excited for this if I had a Pro Controller, but I can't justify dropping $50 for a peripheral that isn't essential.

Hopefully they'll update the participating Canadian stores soon. Although, I suppose it wouldn't much matter for me. Atlantic Canada always gets the shaft with these kinds of things. Plus I live about 150km from the nearest Best Buy.

There is no update for Zelda II. I really wanted to play it with save states. Sigh.

Just FYI, the Zelda II update that includes restore points is available now.

Yes! I've been waiting for an announcement like this. My hands are big and get cramped easily while playing for extended sessions, which is something I never experienced with the DSi XL. I hope this rumor turns out to be true!
