DS Problems! Already!
« on: February 22, 2005, 12:35:30 PM »
Hey guys,

A friend of mine has received his DS early this morning through DVD Crave.  Unfortunately, it's all dodgy.  The problems include:

- System will stop responding to touch screen input after about a minute of being turned on
- Power light stays on when system is off
- Occasionally bottom touch screen flashing on and off, top screen fine

Oddly enough, any GBA games work fine.

Could you guys post here if any of you have had problems with your DS systems (if any of you are lucky enough to have gotten them early)?  We'd just like to know if this is an isolated problem or if it affects more DS systems.

Cheers,

Ben

Whoa... crap. Well i'm getting mine tomorrow so i'll find out then how good it is, this has me a bit worried that all the Australian systems are defective as a result of us getting them before Europe (rushed production or something?).

PLEASE be flawless.

That doesn't sound right at all.  My guess is that its one that fell through the cracks, or Ben is trying to kill all your anticipation because there have been no reports of any of these anywhere online.

- Power light stays on when system is off

That was a reported defect of the PSP .

Hmm I ordered from DVD crave too. They havent sent yet because Sprung hasn't arrived in their store yet. Atari must be the distributer or something. Anyway I'm a bit worried, DVD crave don't do hardware replacements.

Don't sweat it too much - Nintendo will replace it for you, I'm sure.  All their systems have a 12 month warranty, don't they?  (They USED TO have a LIFETIME warranty.  Those were the days.)

Well I got my DS, and no problems! I bloody love it too

I have one dead pixel at the bottom left of the top screen though... annoys me sometimes but it's nothing too bad

Dead pixel on the top screen where I hardly ever look. Wario Ware crashed twice during the Dentist scene (didn't respond to anything). Apart from that, yeah. Rawkin'

I guess I, Termin8Anakin, Mario and others must be the lucky ones, my DS is in perfect condition with no glitch or scratch marks on it.

I betch you that the people who sell the DS that dont like Nintendo, play around with the DS so that the buys get upset.
