I'm done working at 3:30 CST.  When I leave today, it's my goal to have any rule changes in place by then, so that they are firmly in place before the game starts.

If there's any rule changes, I'll make sure to PM any affected roles.

Speaking of which, all of the roles have been sent out.  If you didn't get it, let me know and I'll resend.

Drew I think it's important to make it clear whether or not you sent roll PMs out to every member or just members with rolls.

That's another lame-ass question people ask to try and snuff out mafia and those kind of 4th wall tactics piss me off.

I sent a PM to every single player of the game, stating what their role would be.   That includes townies.

General mafia rule is usually not to let the doctor protect himself. Otherwise, the only way to kill him is through the vote and that can be hard to do. Except through Peach backlash maybe. Or a bob-omb vote. Otherwise, the player is pretty much gaurenteed to make it to the end. Of course, maybe I shouldn't complain. Maybe I'll get lucky and be a self- protecting doctor for once. That would be nice.

Well in that case I think I'm willing to revise that rule for Luigi unless there's any protest.

Khush is playing?!?!?!?!

Yeah. It's a bit unusual for me. I thought I'd try something new.

Well, no one's really chimed in with their opinions on the Mario & Luigi roles that decoy talked about.

I am leaning toward changing the Luigi role so that he can not protect himself.

Also, I like the idea that it takes two hits from the non-bowser members of the Mafia, but the question remains - if I change that rule, should I also change the rule that a non-bowser mafia member will die if they try to hit Mario?

Now that you all have your roles, it's a little harder to accept feedback from the crowd. :)  I'll give it some thought, and make a decision before I leave for the day at 3:30 CST.

In real life mafia I've found that it is generally frowned upon when someone protects themselves the whole game. I think it is a pansy thing to do.

Agreed, but I'll remove the option regardless.

Okay, here are the revised rules for Mario:

Previous I said that once Bowser died, Mario became non-hittable by the Mafia.  I think perhaps that makes Mario a bit too strong, so I'm going to revise the role to say that when any member of the Mafia who ISN'T Bowser places a hit on Mario, the hit will be successful, but that Mafia member will be killed in the process.

I'll send PMs to the Mafia & to Mario to notify them of this rule change and update the rules post.

If that's because the rules have changed a few times over the course of this thread, you have my apologies.  This is the first game that I've run, and I wanted to rely on the mafia veterans as much as I could to make sure the game was balanced.

Now that the rules are set, and everyone knows what their objectives are, I think things should be getting fun.  Hopefully we'll see some threads evolve throughout the next few days.

Well I hope so, because whenever any game just turns into a discussion about the rules (even if they aren't arguments) it really detracts from the enjoyment.
